    Great video with one exception. You need to warn people to get a skinny guy to do this. I'm just a little too big. I had to feel around as there is no room for my head and arm both. Otherwise perfect. Short and to the point and still showed everything. Thank you

      Here’s to hoping that’s the fix. (Guess not, that’s just AC related)

    Why would anyone dislike this video? It's great. I would never have figured out where Mazda had secreted the bloody filters withought help like this. I do appreciate the deep space behind the tiny glove box, it's very useul so I guess Mazda can be forgiven... to a deree. Thanks for this video. :)

      I'm guessing the "dislikes" are because of the terrible design by Mazda. Skinned knuckles, 45 minutes, and lots of sweat for me to do it using this video, and it would have been impossible without the video!

    @halocore Yeah, the 5 doesn't have much space to work in - I can only imagine how small the space is in the 3. We've been looking for a 3 to get a video of but we haven't had any luck yet. If you do end up changing the filter, let us know what was different!

    Nice video. I think I will 'Lose' the filter altogether.It seems like it will just impede airflow from the outside.One thing is for sure, old car's had WAY MORE air flow threw the vent's from outside.

    My Honda Element cabin filters take about five minutes to change, this looks like a chore. My daughter in Orlando has a black, black interior Mazda 5 . The A/C is pathetic. I hope this helps, I got a feeling it has the original filter in it. It looks like a tough job for a big guy.

    • @filterheads
      @filterheads  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should replace your cabin air filter once a year or every 15,000 miles. A dirty cabin air filter filter could be filled with debris like leaves, pollen, and dust. If you live in an area with a lot of smog or around a lot of trees you might want to consider replacing it more often because you'll have more debris that may clog up the filter. Stale odors can also be caused by a dirty cabin air filters.

    Made it seem easier than it was. Had to lay on my back across the footwell to see that last screw. I'm 6'2" and 194 lbs., so didn't have a extra bit of shoulder room. With all the maneuvering, it took me over half an hour.

      Use one hand to hold the first filter up in the housing and use your other hand to install the second filter. This can be tricky and may take some patients to install.

    I found the easiest way to access the screws was to lay with my feet on the driver's seat with my right flank on the passenger's seat. That way my right arm could get in and my head was at the correct level.

      I did this on my 2008 mk1 Mazda 3 .I wish I'd noted which way round they went . I found a different video online that shows the space they fit into . I vacuumed it out as there were leaves/ debris in the housing etc . Will take a photo before I remove them next time. Hard to shine torch as it's in passenger side of centre under dash on RHD uk models.

    Its not that hard. Just don't loose a screw.. I did this on my 2010 mazda 3 and I couldn't get the box to seal correctly and it lose some air through the gap it created when the blower was on. Also make sure to plug those connectors in firmly or you'll get intermittent use of different blower speeds.

    I changed mine summer of 2010 and it was a pain in the butt. Mazda did not design this without considering ease of replacement in mind since this is can be a reqular owner maintenaned item. Price of cabin filters here in Canada is just retarded, purchased mine on-line and had it shipped to me for less than half of Canadian prices.
