I have been flying drones for many years edit blowing most of it on the market. I definitely love the Air3 the only thing you need to look out for it's trees without leaves the centers do not always recognize them. I've had a couple of Close calls with mine. Thanks for a great program.
I hope the comparison helped and you really can't go wrong with either of them. If you can afford it, the Mini 4 Pro is a better all-around drone with the 360 degree obstacle avoidance but you'll be happy with either of them.
Hey neighbor! We bought the OG Mavic Mini on your recommendation and had a great experience with it… until my son crashed it into saltwater! Tia just bought me the Mini 4 pro for my birthday, and the difference between the two is startling! Love your comparison video and your intro video to the mini 4 pro. both were very informative and entertaining! Looking forward to a new level of cinematography. Nerds Rule! Slainte! -Rob and Tia
This was a great review. Thanks for comparing these two units. After the review I am looking at the Mini 4. Do you think if you never flew a drone these are good starters? I am going to shoot videos of me metal detecting for my TH-cam Channel. Thanks again for sharing.
Great comparison video, Rick! 😊 A physical feature on the Mini 4 Pro that I prefer are the leg supports under the front propellers. The supports definitely help with stability on ‘uneven’ ground takeoffs and landings (with or without a landing pad). I have the Mini 3 (non-Pro version) and it has the leg supports just like the Mini 4 Pro.
I like the leg supports as well and always worried about the Mini 3 Pro landing on it's belly. It's still a great quad and I love putting them both up in the air.
There is such a small cost difference between the Mini 3 Pro and the Mini 4 Pro that it really would make no sense for a new purchaser to buy the Mini 3 Pro; the technology in the Mini 4 Pro is just astounding. I really like my Mini 3 Pro which I purchased shortly after its release and can’t afford the Mini 4 upgrade since I already purchased the Air 3. All DJI drones are great, but the Mini 4 Pro is the best of the minis. I look forward to your Mini 4/Air 3 comparison. Nice overview, Rick.
I agree and it all depends on your budget. With all of the Mini versions that DJI has released in the last few years, there only a small difference between each of the models. I always suggest buying what you can afford and get out there to start flying. I agree that the Mini 4 Pro is amazing and I can't even imagine what DJI will do with the next one.
For fun... I want to see these drones race. Like if a starting-line camera & a finish-line camera were setup to see how each performs, & even with the heavy battery difference in flight. You'd need two pilots but I would imagine the FAA would allow one person to trigger the remotes, in that the 2nd pilot is there to take control of the 2nd-drone if needed as you aren't allowed to have in the air by yourself. Obviously the Mini 4 will win the descending-speed. I imagine a tall parking-lot might allow a vertical race too. I fly a Mini 3 for fun. Smoothly roaming the yard always amazes friends, especially if they have a playful dog for me to show off my skills to.
That Mini 4 is definitely a great little drone. I personally don't have one, because I'm not into the mini series. I do have the air 2, and air 2 S, and I think they're good enough for a couple more years maybe more. I think DJI is doing something great with making drones compatible as far as batteries and props that I think it's the reason why I have the two air units. I like that they did the same with the Mini as well. Thanks for sharing Rick. 👍👍👍
Also note Mavic 3 series has 6 variants, all use same aircraft body (to a large extent), same batteries, charging, hubs etc. Air 3/Mini 4 Pro are introducing new, O4 controllers but already there's 2 aircraft. The transmission system revisions are always painful, such as O2 Smart Controller, O2 drone controllers that mounted phone at bottom, to the to RC-N1, RC Pro etc. Generation you are running. I actually held my nose (and wallet!) and jumped fast to 04. Only link to the recent past/Current but EOL is Mavic 3 Pro and RC Pro. Some $4650 invested, and not even the "Cine/Pro Res" set. Ahh well. In roughly 2 years I'll be looking for an O4 Mavic rig, Mavic 4 with RC Pro PRO? LOL - IT NEVER ENDS.
Great video as usual. I see no need for me to upgrade from my m3p. I’m always flying within vlos so no problem with range. I am always very observant so obstacle avoidance works fine for me on the m3p even though the m4 pro seems a beast, but can’t justify spending more money. I wonder when the mini5 pro will hit the market and what new technology it will have?😳 Thanks.😮
Great Review! Thanks! But I have a different dilemma , Have access to get a Mini 3 Pro with a RC Pro Controller or a Mini 4 Pro with a RC 2 controller . I have been told the RC PRO will probably never be able to be upgraded to OcuSync 4 Outside of cost, can you help with Pros and Cons of each option?
Great vid as usual 🎉 I’ve got original mini combo pack ❤ have there been any upgrades in the past couple if years as I’ve had some health issues and haven’t flown for quite a while 😢 do they now have their own controller etc - again love you very informative videos. Cheers Chris “The Aussie living in the Netherlands “
Great To See DJI Is Back On The Right Track By Producing Drones With Active Track, Obstacle Avoidance ( Improved )Which Was Around Years Ago. Mini 4 Pro Has Now Front Supporting Legs With Lights And A Landing Light On The Bottom Of The Drone To See Better In Gloomy Conditions. I Pity That Some People Have Been Flying Drones Irresponsibly To Have All These Drone Laws Implemented. I So Enjoyed Flying Drones From 2017- 2020 Before These Type Of People Turned Up. Getting Far To Commercial.
not enough for me to upgrade from the m3p plus the rc pro I have works with my other drones. unless rc pro support is added I have no reason to upgrade.
Does the air drop sytem for these two work on the signal from controller or a fob type. Looking for casting solution while fishing. Fob has limited range i do have a mini se I'm considering getting the fob design one until I upgrade to I think the 4 pro. I have rc planes that a good drone could track in flight.
little remark: active tracking is quite picky and only follows humans, boats and cars... will not recognize other objects and will refuse to follow them... I tried it last weekend and it's not working 100% perfect. I might be due to low ligt here in winter-time. (central EU)
Yep, its been out for a little over a month and has a few upgrades to the Mini 3 Pro. if you're flying that drone now, no need to upgrade. I'm thinking they may move to a 1" sensor on the Mini 5 Pro in the Spring and that may be worth the upgrade. Stay tuned.
It's a terrible idea and the drive behind it has nothing to do with security and everything to do with politics and protectionism. This is what happens when we elect folks that care more about lining their pockets (through lobbyists) more than the good of the country. DJI has already been eliminated form State and Federal contracts based on nothing more than nonsense and the alternative drones that have been approved costs 10 -20 times more and do far less. I can't believe it will happen because cooler heads should prevail, so I'm not too worried.
Simply Excellent, Thanks Rick!
Happy Flying!

Thank you for the comparisons. I was leaning toward the mini 4 and now I have made my decision.
Why the suspense?

Another beaut video Rick. I have both the 3 and 4 now. The daughter’s getting into flying with me so I gave her the 3 Pro and I’m using the 4 pro.

@Dronevalley is there big difference in the photo quality? Thanks
Always enjoy your videos Rick. Hopefully DJI will give you a Mini 4 for your 12 Days of Christmas Givaways!
Love my Mini 3 Pro. Next update to the crew is probably going to be the Mavic 3 Classic.
Mini 3 Pro is an amazing drone and a ton of fun to fly. No need to upgrade the Mini. You're going to love the Mavic 3!
@@Dronevalley Can't wait. Ordering black Friday. I really enjoy flying so much I rarely take advantage of the camera.
You're going to love it and if you use the links in the description to make the purchase, you'll be supporting the channel. Have fun with it!

DJI MAVIC AIR ALL THE WAY for 2023 and beyond!
Love the Mavic Air and still fly mine. The Air 2, 2S were interesting but the new Air 3 with the dual cameras is a major upgrade.
Dang there's already a mini pro 4!
