    Retirements aren’t normally graceful or particularly watertight in hip-hop. For better or worse, every MC that experienced the thrill of hearing arenas full of fans bellowing their rhymes back at them struggle to replace that adrenaline rush. And when they can’t find it elsewhere, the mic faithfully slides back into their hand. But in the case of Logic, there’s a real sense that he’s bookended his career as intended. Over the course of his No Pressure album live stream on Twitch, Logic was laid to rest and in his place, Sir Robert Bryson Hall II re-emerged afters year of hibernation.
    As he thanked his supporters and openly wept, it seemed as his emotional response was concocted from a mix of both happiness and the release that comes from escaping a traumatic experience. Considering the support network, riches and lavish life that he exhibits in the video to ‘Dadbod’, it’d be easy to discredit the idea that Logic could’ve endured real strife in recent years. But when you think about his journey since those heady days where hip-hop ushered Young Sinatra into the timeframe where the allegations of corniness ramped up, could you objectively categorise Logic’s career as a smooth ride?

      It's sad. Other genres tend to be "yeah I like them, but don't care for them". The macho-bacho masculinity, even for female rappers, makes it so love-hate. The haters are everywhere and their own insecurities don't allow to merely not care for another's music, instead they feel the need to put others down. The irony is strong.

      Logic shouldn't be mentioned with those 2 though....because he garners so much more hate...and what Logic fans fail to acknowledge is even though YALL love him, the fact that he gets so much hate from the community and even more prominent figures in it, means there might be just a little bit of truth in it. Logic made his money and im not made at him but there are a lot of rappers who make money and arent ever going to be great or even considered good by most ppl. Logic has a niche audience and they are loyal. I respect it but he is never going to be beloved or considered a GOAT or pioneer of anything like Cole and Hopsin are...(and for the record, hopsin isnt a GOAT either...but he is a pioneer in the way he made his success in the rap game happen) He never even had a number 1 hit. the closest he got was number 3 with that suicide song that got a LOT of smoke from being a little too close to Joyner Lucas's suicide song (release date wise)

    I think what made Logic great and what was inevitably his downfall was his yearning to be loved and accepted. His mom never showed him love and his dad abandoned them early on. Logic talks about being a child and watching TV where people were loved and had a family and pretending that was him. He was never loved and accepted growing up and the drive for the world to love him is what made him work so hard to be a great MC.

      Toussaint Brown Budden is funny as hell at times, but he’s akin to the fucking trolls that love to throw shit at people because they’re unhappy with themselves and their lives.
      Joe Budden is having more success as a speaker on the culture than he ever had as a rapper. Eminem couldn’t even save his dwindling rap career with Slaughterhouse. If Eminem can’t save your career as a group act, then you know your solo career is DONE!
      Keep in mind that Joe actually apologized to Logic. Budden likes to think that he put emo-rap on the map or some BS when in reality, Joe was never that influential.

    • @atlien1988
      @atlien1988 3 ปีที่แล้ว +91

      Francisco Davis Budden hit the scene with Pump It Up. That was his breakout single. Yes, he switched his lane and started going against the grain, but his first and BIGGEST single of his career was as Pop as you can get from Rap/Hip-Hop. He lost all credibility when he began throwing stones at other rappers considering how he hit the scene and not to mention he was never a heavy hitter in Hip-Hop. At best he was a mid-card and I think I’m being generous.
      NY listeners may beg to differ, but I can tell you that practically no one was listening to Joe Budden. Three of my top five rappers are from NY (or up North) might I add. I’m a GA boy, Atlanta native and I listened to Joe here and there. His career is rather forgettable to be honest and Logic is certainly a more impactful rapper. You cannot deny that.

It doesnt matter who you are but if you succeed at anything you can rely on people coming after you because they dont like you, they may claim all kinds of reasons why they dont like you but in the end its simple, you got a chance to be successful and they either havent got one or they didnt take it so they resent that you have it and they dont.

    Notice how he always makes his best music when he didn't care what people thought of him. compare the young Sinatra callection, the Bobby Tarantino collection, even The Incredible True Story and especially No Pressure. You can feel that he was just being himself. The reason why "Everybody" and "Confessions of A Dangerous Mind" failed is because that's when he let everything start getting to him and he wanted to impress everyone. He was trying too hard. He was trying to be what he thought people wanted him to be. Thus, being what nobody actually wanted him to be. But it was nice to see him exit with the mindset "idc what people think anymore" and left us with an amazing last album. I'll always hold logic close to my heart. Logic's case is complicated. He proves lyrical prowess is not enough to sustain a long-term rap career at a certain level, or at the level he wishes he was or he thinks he is, you need a certain mindset and personality to gain the mass appeal in this genre. Is not like Rock or Pop, where everyone is quite permissive and understanding, Hip Hop is like a prison yard, and you need to stand tall and proud or not be in the spotlight at all. You need to be made of a certain wood to rule this place, and, sadly, he isn't. The community does not care about him at all, I'd say he's even more hated than Hopsin. He's like Eminem, but he lacks his aggression and temperament. Logic is way too sweet and kind-hearted. But, in the end, he contributed to the genre extensively, so he shouldn't feel sad. He simply should move on to other projects, like raising his baby.

      Facts. He’s always lacked the hunger. He can’t ride that peace love and positivity bs forever because...it gets corny. He never challenges himself and as time went on his pen game declined. Now 80% of his lyrics are filler. He just isn’t goat material. If all the memes and budden hurt him so much, why didn’t he address it in his music?

    • @cflame14
      @cflame14 3 ปีที่แล้ว +34

      I wouldn't say that because we accept rapper's like Childish Gambino, Kyle, and Tyler The Creator. Nobody would ever say those guys are hard. At the end of the day if you make good music it will silence the critics.
      Logic just tends to make a mistake in crafting albums. He had the whole space thing in in his second album but most of the songs had anything to even do with that theme. The album as a whole didn't tell the story with the songs. Only with skits. Then the skits continued into his later albums with no real conclusion .
      Then he mistakes rapping fast for being a good rapper. Alot of times he just repeats words over and over fast and doesn't have anything real to say.
