    It's incredible how SMBX2 can give you the freedom to do gameplay mechanics like the ones shown in this video. I was looking for the current state of the art of SMBX episodes currently and this one did not disappoint :)

    I played it on SMBX 1.4.5 and now the games gets better on SMBX2. This was one of my favorite episodes on smbx 1.4.5!

    This looks cool! Love the audio change when in the water especially. Miles of polish. The only thing I noticed was that after mario teleports to the other pipe, the star partner moves from the first pipe in a linear motion. The star could teleport to the player to polish that even more. Maybe the star flies into/out the pipe :)
    I'm attempting to understand level design more, and after looking at this, I wonder if there could be some mechanics that can be stretched to their fullest through a formula to teach the player more. But I also understand it's a mario fan game, so the audience would be people who are familiar with it already :)
    - I think it's fun that the player has some acrobatic moves, but they aren't explicitly required to complete any objective in this level at all (except wall kick). hopefully that are taken advantage of more.
    - The thrown star projectile feels like the most unique idea of the game. Destructible terrain has lots of potential.
    - The thwomps from the later portion of the video show some great ideas, could definitely go a lot further with those.
    - I enjoyed seeing the volcano lotus make an appearance. As more are used, they could be positioned in increasingly dangerous places for the player.

      Appreciate the comment! This is the second level and the first level where you'll be using your first partner, so the level is entirely focused around using him. Other levels are focused on a certain type of gimmick, like an enemy (such as thwomps) or a powerup, while also making use of said partner. The first level is focused on walljumping. Each chapter/world will have an unlockable level which is a lot tougher and will focus on some more advanced moves, so it requires more use from the available moveset. Hope that clears it up a bit!

    The fact that SMBX2 is capable of doing that makes it better than anything Nintendo could ever make. Nintendo will always stick to their consoles which limits the creativity and genius of people like this because you don't have abilities to customize this much like customizing sprites or coding your own stuff. I am honestly surprised about how versatile this game is because everything can literally be in this game with the ability of coding. Would love to try this project and best wishes to the creators 🙏

      Well yes, you can code anything you want to tailor it to your expectations. Plus you can use copyrighted materials without repercussion, something Nintendo can't do. You can make a mario game where naked Sub Zero is the end boss and have the soundtrack be slayer, all while using Worms as weapons. Inventive.

    I can tell this works out a lot better in SMBX2. Do you prefer lua over teascript? Do you know much lua?

      I know pretty much no lua. I might have to learn it at some point, lol. As of now I have other people that do the lua side of things!
