Right, lol? It's been more than a decade since I last seriously played the game. I think I finished the story that was included in the release about a dozen times over lol. Now looking at the game today... Sheesh. It's really been expanded upon like crazy.
The community kinda imploded and then got taken over by the "art community" mindset. Lot of these punks don't hold a candle to Redigit, though, who made it to the game industry with Terraria. Apparently the community was salty over him making it big too, like crabs in a bucket.
@@sintheemptyone8108 Maybe in the past, sure, for leaving the game at a buggy state. But I assure you things changed over time as the devs of X2 managed to find a way to fix the janks within the 1.3 source code. And we all are proud of Redigit to hit it big, after making a Mario fangame using just Visual Basic.
I'm truly, continuously amazed by what people are able to make in SMBX these days. I'm still used to how simple things were with 1.3 over 10 years ago. Seeing this game evolve so much since then, and the episodes and features people can make with it, never fails to blow me away.
I have no idea what this is, having only really been prominently following and playing SMBX 1.3. I remember following SMBX 1.4 a bit... But finding it to be a bit too WIP for my tastes, and then kind of drifting away. This is SMBX2, correct? Is this even the same engine, an entirely new one or what? I am not caught up at all.
This is 2.0, afaik. A direct continuation of 1.3, but there’s been so many crazy improvements that make it easier for people to make custom features. I just wish I knew how all that LUA coding stuff worked myself, it’s hard finding the time to learn
@@Turret3471 Yeah, this is nuts to me. I'm used to 1.3. I just opened the level editor and it's so unfamiliar and packed with so much stuff. I don't even know what I can or can't do with it. All the custom features I've seen look absolutely astonishing.
lots of sick projects here, and the presentation is top-notch as usual. you've been going above and beyond with these directs, they're always a fun watch
This is so cool! I only started using SMBX2 a few days ago and only made one demo level, salutes to all of these talented individuals who put their heart and soul into their projects, and caps off to the SMBX2 team for making such a great game! Will definitely make more levels soon, probably inspired by these!
I mean, I remember growing up with Mr. Dragonboy 96 content and absolutely felt nostalgic coming back to it. I don't know if they were any playable. But If not, I really do hope someone does one day (maybe with more polish than the original).
21:31 Gee wiz I wonder who that particular handsome fella is in the user tab on the top... Awesome direct! Thank you kindly for putting it all together!! Looking forward to seeing everyones projects flourish. :D
This is so great. Seconds ago i was like "man i wish there was a way to know what modern SMBX levels I can download." And then this was the 4th result. I just wish you also went over past-announced projects that have finally released so I could try them out on the SMBX android version. These look cool but a lot of them aren't at a "v1.0" state.
The amount of dedication going into these games is insane. Nintendo definitley could make a fan game section in their library to show they support fans with big ambitions but they'll never be that cool sadly. You guys are awesome!
I am happy to see our team's project, The Legend of Darkness, being a part of this Direct! By the way, since that trailer was finished in summer of the last year, the content shown in this Direct can be outdated at present. Several days ago, I uploaded a new video of preview of opening plot & level 1-1 of this project, with a lot of stuffs updated. Watch it if you're interested in this project! th-cam.com/video/m7ki9ADXKVY/w-d-xo.html
Hey....I remember SMBX....man good times I had with that shit! When 2014 rolled around and I got Windows 7. I made quite a lot of levels in SMBX! Some were pretty cool and creative. But others were pretty weird and deranged. Looking back at those disturbing ones makes me quite embarrassed about how utterly insane and mentally unwell I was or....still am as a matter of fact. But I had no idea that there was a new update for this game, after all these years! Even after Nintendo stepped in and stopped the original creator from making anymore updates past like....1.3 or something like that! Which was like over 10 years ago at this point. But it's still cool to see this over a decade old fangame being supported even now. Gonna have to check this out!
Can someone please explain step by step for an absolute SMBX noob what exactly to download and how to play any particular variant? (I downloaded the Luigi's Quest - Trouble in Sarasaland)
shy guys panic is literally the dumbest thing ive ever seen, it doesnt take inspiration from stuff, it just steals the idea (and all of the sound effects are unoriginal)
Wow I did not realize there was still a community alive for this game, that's cool to see.

i thought smbx was taken down?
Well it was but it got revived back
I thought i had a page error but guess not :p
Why was it taken down?
Because nintendo hated it like usual?

Does anyone know how to fix some errors in SMBX2 that are caused when playing episodes made in 1.3?

I'm so glad this game is still alive
