LOL same here. Just spent at least half an hour combing through Reddit, reading one horrible/unhelpful reply after another trying to figure out how to make ISOs "playable" inside of XEMU. It's almost mindboggling just how bad some people are at providing technical support for others. Sometimes I just don't get it. If not for this video, I'd probably be stuck for hours on end.
for people getting "permission denied" issues or struggling in any way with the powershell command, move all of the files (the iso, the extract-xiso.exe, and the folder for the iso), into one folder on your desktop, and then run the command
Holy cow it took me way too long to find this. Never mind that this was also 10x simpler than all the other methods I already tried, thank you so much for making this video.
Thank you man, I saw your previous video and it helped me a lot, but this one is even better. I was also using repackinator as well, but I noticed that this methods make the iso even lighter than the repackinator method.
You could make the 2nd part of the xiso creation, after iso file extracted to a folder, even easier without a need to manually start the conversion via powershell. Just make a simple batch command file with a Notepad editor. Name it e.g. iso2xiso.bat and write two lines. LINE1 set folder_name=%~f1 LINE2 extract-xiso -c "%folder_name%" Then you can just drag and drop the folder on top of the .bat file to start xiso creation.
lmao.. took me longer than it should have but thank you! I didnt even wanna play the game anymore just wanted to make it work to prove a point! Thanks a million!
Thank you for this guide, followed every steps, put the correct command in powershell. I can extract or convert game iso to .xbe & Xiso. All done using 1 program, Very convenient. I saved your guide in my Xbox Emulator playlist. 😊
100% the easiest way to do it so far! Got my head all spinning trying to figure this out for the deck! xD Massive thank you for this! Also isn't it sad that after a life time of computers, from amiga2000 to steamdeck I never learned how to use powershell or commandlines. So many little things I never knew was right there :D
For anyone confused by the video, xiso files have the same extension as “iso”. So it may look like nothing changed but your “new” iso file is actually an xiso file and you can tell by the reduced file size just like the video described.
Thank you bro, no joke, I was searching all over the place trying to understand why my games would not work on the Xemu emulator, turns out I needed to do that powershell step.
Yo. That shit was hard as fuck! Had to download Powershell, type out everything like you had it. It wasn't working because the 2 ISO files were the same name. Such a simple error had me stuck. i got it though! You the GOAT!
for me that happened but i changed the name to only include letters i changed mine from "JSRF - Jet Set Radio Future (USA)" to "JSRF" and it worked for me
Dunno what I'm doing wrong i have the iso and exe for converting in a folder and when i drag and drop the iso it just opens a window for half a second and doesn't create an xbe at all. anyone know a fix?
Thank You! As a pc amateur I still wouldn't exactly call it easy, what with the PowerShell commands and whatnot (which is why I saved the video for future reference) but it did the trick! I don't know why these files wouldn't typically be uploaded for easier use to begin with, but I'm sure there's a reason I'm just not aware of. Clear and concise video, though. Thanks again!
A redump is a 1:1 copy of the original disc. Everything including encryption is preserved. Historically, redumps are meant for backup purposes rather than emulation. It just so happened most emulators like to use redumps. If you also want to play on original hardware, you'd like to have the redump/encrypted ISO, because the console will look for the encryption of the original disc. Emulators on the other hand, need decrypted files.
@@EmeryC75 No worries, if you're into archiving/preservation, it makes sense to keep the redump, because you can always decrypt a redump, but you cannot restore the original encryption from a decrypted file. Cheers!
@@KatRollo I'm not personally, but I do think it's worthwhile, and appreciate that there are people who are. I was just speculating earlier that what you said was probably the case, though. Thanks for the confirmation.

thank you for this video. I was trying to convert the the iso file to a xiso file, but unfortunately it says that the value is too large. did i miss a step or is the file i was trying to convert really just too large? :D
xiso just does not work for me. It's saying i don't have some BS dlls that i already have and that every computer has.. like ucrtbased which is in every home computer due to it being available by default just from having visual studio
theres a website that lets you do all this automatically, no need to download anything. just upload your file and itll convert it to xiso. I doubt itll let me link it but it should be easy to find
Honestly thank you, but wow ps2 you download it, get the bios and run game. Xbox it's download emulator, find 3 different files you need, then convert games into a different format (why didn't they upload in that format who knows) it's just insane!
hi! so i did this through my mac on terminal and it said it worked- even created the file itself but for some reason the game xiso isn’t showing up in the folder? could you help at all?
I don't understand why sites that distribute Xbox ISO files don't prepare them like you did in the video It would be a good idea to create a page where you post the files you prepared for us to just download and run or a program to do this let's insert the xbox iso file and have that program prepare as you have prepared me here and That would be great I've tried various programs that claim to do this but they don't and I can't find any files complex in the ista ISO file for example the voting file for Xbox does not exist and it is hard to find at least for me and there is another problem to prepare this file you must know English because the computer program cannot write in another language to be able to execute the command and it's very hard for someone who is not an English speaker that's why they should create a page where you prepare the files beforehand Like you did in this video we just download them and use them It would be a much better idea because not all of us can use the computer so skillfully most of us only use it to search explore watch movies listen to music and download premade games I also found Windows games pre-installed, we download them to the computer and start them and play them, we don't even have to install them. This is how a page created by you should be with the files ready, I see that you know how to do this. We don't understand that you are doing this to me If I was good at it then we would post, I would make a page like this But I don't know how to do this job and that's why I suggest you do this job, put a page where you can post the files that you make Ready ready we you see we download them and use them in the emulator It would be much easier for us
First you have to apply the first method taught in the video then there you have to apply the command in PowerShell with that folder that has the default.xbe
