Spot on review. I was able to purchase my Limited AWD a month ago. Best car purchase I ever made. Zero regrets and everytime I get in and drive, the feel and excitement never gets old. Hyundai built a winner!
I’ve had the Ioniq 6 for 2 months & I love it. The style, the speed (AWD), interior, the buttons, mileage, 20” in rims. I have free DC fast charge for 2yrs. 5 mins away from my house. Then I’ll charge at home
Hyundai has pulled off a masterclass with this one! Hopefully for myself and others they can mass produce these things at a fast pace so we can see more of them out on the road!
I tell people not to take a test drive because they'll be hooked. I pulled away from the curb and l was hooked. Had no Intention of buying a car at that time , however l bought it that week. It's awesome
Thanks for the nice review. I am an MB V-8 gasoline car owner who has yet to jump on the EV bandwagon, but the Ioniq 6 is the EV I've been most impressed with so far. I really like that it's small and aerodynamic (Cd = 0.22), which gives it long range without a huge battery (thereby high battery cost, long charging time and high charging cost). They might think of eventually making it Sportback, Audi S5-style. It wasn't before the 1990's that car buyers in North America decided massively to buy SUVs, and there's no good, logical reason for an SUV for most people - hopefully people will go back to smaller cars. Like you, I believe that the Ioniq 6 will have huge market success, and I am hoping that it helps create a trend towards small, efficient EVs in the near future.
I personally prefer driving cars over SUVs, but it's getting harder to find them in the marketplace. Soon we won't have any left on the new market in Canada.
Recently I was acting as "taxi" for my grown son who was selling his car to a Hyundai dealer. In 2021 I bought a Mustang Mach-E and honestly thought it would be my last car...I'm 79 (not planning on checking out any time soon). But when I went to pick my son up at the Hyundai dealer he said, "Hey, Dad, they have Ioniq 6's...why don't you look around." So I did. I was not prepared to fall in love with this car; it is literally the first car that has turned my head (other than an Mercedes EQS...only if I win the lottery) since 2019 when the Mach E as introduced in LA. I took a short test drive (assuming the sales person that I was not shopping for a new EV). But this really is quite a car. I have owned five Hyundai/Genesiss cars (all ICE) and have had excellent reliability from them. So now I'm "thinking about it." I still love my Mach-E and have had no problems. What to do.... PS: I have owned three EV's and all three have operated at about 20% of the fuel cost of my ICE-age cars. I have solar panels on my roof...so they really run for nothing, but I've kept very consistent and accurate monthly spreadsheet entries on all three cars and the savings is very real (and very substantial).
The Ioniq 6 is a sweet looking car, don't see many of them on the road. Hyundai has some great experience with electrification, they've been making EVs for longer than most other brands. It's hard to say if you should trade in your car for one, as the overall performance, range, and features are similar between both, but I feel the Hyundai might hold up better long term when it comes to styling, and resale value.
@@PRNTestDrive My dealer has a half dozen of them for sale (none are LTE, however). I drove one and if I were really in the market for a new car I think it may win. It has certainly gleaned a lot of attention and awards. But my Mustang is giving me no reason to rid myself of it (esp. at current interest rates) and the Hyundai has no government incentives, either. However, I did create a list of 13 features that are either not present or have been significantly improved over my 2021 Mustang. Range is not a concern and the 270 AWD range is plenty good...esp. with the higher charging speed of the Ioniq 6 which basically means that it will get back to 80% during the time it takes to go to the restroom and buy a Coke. But the price gap cannot be amortized by those 13 features...so I'll stay happy being happy with what I've got.
I ordered mine in april 2023 (ultimate red) should have it in 10-12 months. Dealer said it may be a 2024 model. This car is so cool. Can't wait. Dealer told me i was the 6th for a ioniq 6 and that he had a waiting list of 30 peoples for the ioniq 5 but was receiving only 5/6 cars until the end of the year.
@@mowcowbell Because of the exchange rate on the dollar Hyundai makes more money selling cars in the US than in Canada. So we have to wait while your delearship lots are full.
I did mention it briefly when I spoke about the car warning me about speed cameras the speed in the HUD turns red if you are over the speed limit. This car had so many features it was hard to go in depth with them all. The HUD did show me my speed,Navigation directions when I had that active and what song was playing when I changed track. Very nice to have!
@@bafattvahetere tbh I was on the fence about the cloth centre panels but the other benefits far outweigh any drawbacks like not having to wait another 3-4 months
Can you have it in 2wd mode in custom and use ipedal? And when you change modes does it automatically go into awd or do you have to change it in the menu everytime?
I am struggling with Ioniq 6 and the coming refreshed Model 3. To me, the biggest drawback of Ioniq6 is the infotainment system. It feels like a functional phone where Tesla's and other EV brands' feel like a smart phone. And the charging infrastructure is not as good as Tesla's. But all other stuff are just so good! And actually, I prefer Hyundai's lane keeping system better than Tesla's auto polit, as it handle things so much gentler than Tesla. You won't feel hard and quick turns at all. I have been on the waiting list since last year, hopefully I can get one soon, lol
Charging infrastructure will vary depending on where you live. In Québec, plenty of SAE/CCS charging stations are available throughout the province, whereas NACS/Tesla chargers are limited to Tesla Super Chargers and some public Tesla stations. It'll be interesting to see how NACS adoption will change now that Ford and GM have decided to adopt this charging specification.
@@PRNTestDrive yeah charging network is way different, but to me, I am not doing road trip very often, So it's not a big deal and it's not that bad in Ontario.
Rgd. the speed camera warning. In Europe this may be illegal, however there is legislation that makes the car play bing bing... when you are driving over the limit. It is annoying, but - hey - drive up to the limit and you are fine (although the car only knows its telemetry data and not the GPS speed). I have ordered this version in blue. It is sitting at the harbor for more than a month now and I am waiting and waiting and waiting, it is so frustrating.
Perhaps they do in the US, which is why I imagine all the brands are jumping onto the NACS recently. Here in Canada Tesla has a good presence of chargers, but standard public charging infrastructure vastly outweighs what Tesla offers.
@@PRNTestDrive Tesla has the best charging network in the country and you can charge a non Tesla car if you have a Tesla account! Volta chargers, which are free, seem to be another good choice in Northern California!
