@jasonsavory9748 usually, "don't feed the fish" means not casting noncreature spells into a remora and waiting until its dead and gone. Ofc, that does mean not having any of your fast mana available to you, which does make it hard to win
The momment i saw tainted and a vampiric tutor on kenrith's hand i knew it's gonna win, but it was quite unexpected the way he did it, very well played ma g
For game 1 it looks like ryan should have went for turn 3 win both blue players spent there counter magic on trying to protect there boards and looked pretty open
Godo had an opening turn 2, could someone explain why not go for it? Especially when all your deck does is try to win? Its not like you actually try to out grind a 4&5 colour piles plus a storm deck... what am i missing? He even had the land on turn 2 to make sure he hits 11
I'm curious about the stickers/dots on Chris's cards; are they used to sort between multiple decks? Are they on the inner sleeves? Is it noticeable when shuffling?
Those indicate cards shared between decks. They should be on the inner sleeves as that’s where I have mine and make the most sense. I personally haven’t noticed anything when shuffling, but it does add thickness to the side with the stickers. I store my deck in a Boulder, and have to take half the deck and flip it around in order to get the deck to fit, and it’s still tight.
Turn 2 was possible. Cast LED and Petal, 2 Red Floating, Land drop, tap crypt and both land and the 2 red floating for godo, get 1 red trough birgi. Godo ETB get Helm of the host, crack LED Crack Lotus petal and the 1 red to equip helm to godo, gg. Or did i miscount somewhere?
@stevenashley27 there's two players who can represent free countermagic at any given time. Sometimes forcing them to have it causes you to lose. If he went for turn 2 win, it just would've been forced as Zack drew into the FoW off of Remora
I wonder why they don’t show the actual version of the card that each player plays as they play it, instead of showing the incorrect/newest versions of cards.
i think they have 1 image per card imported in their library so they just have to type it in their editing software of choice and then use it. Downloading and using all versions not only is tedious and adds editing time, it also takes a lot of ressources for the pc to even load them.
I'm glad they do that on dual lands, old ones are ugly as fuck and too many text, 30th anniversary are easier to understand since gameplay goes to fast
Besides what everyone else has already said, we try and use the most readable version of a card. Using crazy secret lairs or foreign language Strixhaven Mystical Archives makes understanding and following the game more difficult.
It's basically a rule at our table to kill the blue player first I remember a time that this was so prominent at an lgs I went to no one played Any blue commander decks for a solid 3-4 months it made the games way more interesting way more interactive. Like okay no blue so how do you deal with someone trying to combo off and win if you cant counter anything. Simple ya play stax God this was an amazing age of no holds bar smack each other or stax each other out or learn to adapt to what is at the table. I remember a crazy player who ran every single white counter spell he could find with scepter it went wild he protected that thing with his life it was such an interesting fun way to play.
I am stupid or what Ryan had the T1 kill and was first in Turnorder, why he plays like that, i dont get it, maybe for safety reasons but hey its Godo OMG this happens like 1 ind 1000 Times that you get such an Christmasland hand, i wonder so much pls explain the thoughts behind it, i mean sure Blue farm and Kenny could have some Interaction but go for it, i mean its CEDH .
If he goes for it and gets blown out by interaction, he just effectively loses as it would take forever to garner enough resources to make another go at it
You always have that one deck you just loathe playing against or outright don't like and for me it's Blue Farm. It's SO BORING. Yes, it is probably one of the most efficient decks in the format, I understand it, but for me, cEDH is figuring out ways to police the table and just go for it. Blue Farm has the same set of events that will lead to either a Thoracle Consult win or a Underworld Freeze win. It's just. So. Boring.
10:02 It’s so nice they displayed the decklist ❤
I SAID THE SAME THING AHA. "I'm taking notes"
So, I don't understand why people don't pay their taxes anymore. When did it become okay to feed the fish and not pay your rhystic taxes?
When you are trying to win.
@@Zen-708 it's hard to win when you lose 😂
@@BrassWholeit’s also hard to win by not being able to go for it because you’re short on mana, having paid 4 for remora

@@Snowjiggles true, but OP mentioned paying taxes which refers to the additional cost. Even paying for rhystic can leave you short of mana

if I ever see Ryan piloting something that isn't Godo I'm going to have a heart attack
👀
Ahh yes, the classic I’m going to feed the fish strategy.
Definitely a Playing with Power video.
@4:35 this is why sequencing is SO important... :'(
Every time I see Ryan on Godo I assume the red love discord is ransoming his family.
It seems there's a leak that needs plugging
Big fan of Godo, the Warlod
Ha! I just saw it lol
Just hard mulligan to remora in these pods
inb4 someone asks what the dots on the cards are for
I love your content and channel and work you guys do. Would you guys consider doing more high power edh games?
We can look into it
Peter is outta control; you guys gotta not allow him to play Kenrith or K'rrik. He makes it look too easy
Quite the old-school lineup. I love it
Some good games. RIP Godo =')
For game 1 it looks like ryan should have went for turn 3 win both blue players spent there counter magic on trying to protect there boards and looked pretty open
That was a ballsy windfall
It was after silence, not ballsy
How is chris marking his cards? What kind of stickers does he use?
Was scouring the comments for this answer too.
The 6mm dots I found on Amazon. Ten bucks will give you like 450+ little stickers.
Thx mate!

Good question, he could have gone for it.
There was table talk not in the video that discussed them having interaction to stop Godo, so he didn't go for it.
Any chance we can see some more Winota games?
Nice games. Happy New Year!

@@GuerteI’ve always wondered that. But couldn’t it lead to marked cards?
@@stevenashley27You’d have to sticker the whole deck to prevent that.
I don’t know the specifics behind timing in CEDH but Godo had a perfect turn 1 win
What's the magic number 11? Remember you gotta cast godo THEN equip the helm its not just godo and win

I wonder why Ryan didn’t go for the turn 2 win
@Knusti000 yup that seems about right. Math be hard

Wanted the monoreds to pop off but old good meta wins again
Amazing games! I need to learn Breach lines at this point, its just so insanely good.
Some cool games this video!
Awe half the pod on mono red was kind of a bummer. Would have been more interesting if the other 2 players did something other than feed the fish 😢

Editing takes time. Going with the first image is simply more efficient with little downside.

Love you Ryan you're my cEdh idol, one day I will win a tournament in your honor
Best of luck! I'm rooting for you!

I will never understand the feeding people who play remora or rhystic. Just sadness
Ryan coulda just turn 1 or 2 slammed godo and won the first game. Idk why he held back
Because you don’t cast Godo and leave Helm on the battlefield for a turn.
Fun game

So true... I'm pretty bored of watching thassa's Oracle winning almost every single table of cEDH...
Oh, another Thassa game... didn't see that one coming 🤭🥴😑
God I want oracle to go it’s so boring
