    This reminds back in 1988 when LL Cool J used to drive down Farmers Blvd in his 560 sec. The only difference is Cool J had a black convertible top.

    What's so cool about the W126 chassis is that it was made in so many iterations, that every time you turn around you find some new accessory or option for sale that came on the car at different years and intervals.

    Back in 2005 i had an 1984 500 sec, i was only 17 at the time and drove it everyday my senior year in high school. I regret selling it to my cousin. I had no idea what type of gem i had. Back then it was whatever. I had no care for it. It was just another car. Anyways im in the market looking for another to build and keep forever. Extremely nice car i love it. Great video sir.

    Superb attention to details. A fabulous design with your elegant touches. Your Euro lights add so much. Sleek classy. And I've never seen those wheels. I wish you would gave commented 6on them. Maker, size and tire sizes - and your feelings about wheels. Great documentary of all your hard work. Bruno would be proud!

      @Second Looks For Men - thank you for the kind words and recognition. I really appreciate it. The wheels are 18" OZ Futuras that were custom made for the car.

    THUMPS UUUUUPP WELL DONE , REALLY A GREAT JOB. Would like to see the car before you got it in your hands, that seems like a loot work but absolutley worth it. Tons of refined details here, love it. Thanks for these video

      @ka3abneh - I bought the body kit used and it was badly damaged, so had to repair it - which took considerable time.

    Very nice car. That car takes me back to my glory days...the 90's. I drove the car once, but ended up buying a 94 S500, which I drove for a year until the opportunity came to get a brand new 96 S600 V12. Loved them both. I'm thinking about getting another one but it's hard to find a clean used one. I'm not a mechanic so I'm trying to learn what I could potentially be getting into by watch videos. You did a great job on your car. Can I ask how much it cost to buy the car and how much you had to put into it. Thanks

    • @slownrusty
      @slownrusty  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Ralph Kroll - I paid $6500 for the car, these cars are fairly straightforward to work on, so don't be afraid to get into one. Ownership is very rewarding.

    Wow! Looks great. Are those rims 18 x 8? I have just refinished my stock 15 wheels, but have a set of AeroII monblocks thinking about putting on mine. Already did the tranny on mine, working through the rest of the mechanics now. Do you have a source for the headers or more spec on those? Any underside pix of your SEC on the lift? Thnx.

    • @slownrusty
      @slownrusty  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. The wheels are OZ Futuras, 10.5" wide in the rear. 8.5" wide in front. The headers were a short run and the fabricator that made them has moved on to other things now. I will get a video of the underside of the car soon.

    • @slownrusty

      @Nad K - Thank-you, the lever is from a W140

  • @bigmovies88
    @bigmovies88 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Sweet SEC & nice work. How much modification did you have to do to add the sunroof, was the w140 glass sunroof a direct fit? Trying to decide how far to go with my 500.

    • @slownrusty
      @slownrusty  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank-you! The W140 Coupe sunroof is a direct bolt in, it took me the better part of a Saturday to remove the old steel roof and install this glass roof - if you're handy with a wrench you can do it!

    It's a gorgeous ride, though I've never liked the AMG skirts. Too easy to damage on even the slightest driveway grade. My 87 SEC was lowered with H&R springs and I had to be careful going in and out of my driveway or parking near curbs. If I had those skirts it would've been murder!
    My interior was blue. But black and eggshell are my favorite. What did it cost you to redo those front seats?
    That radiator... 😱 wow
