I'm jealous, you have the cars I want. However I think the SEC should not be lowered or any W126. They look more menacing at the proper height. Lowered they look like they need to be fixed.
I have a 500sec but has the w140 rims on I think but not really sure about them. After wanting to lower mine and put mags on it I think I might just put the original rims on it. They seem in good supply as well. What width tyres do you have?
Thanks Bevan. My tires are 205-65-15. The AMG Monoblocks look great on these cars in 17 or 18. It is imperative to have the correct offset,if not you will have a bad experience. There is a guy that make the stock looking wheels in 16 and 17 inch. His name is Roland M. Muller.He is on facebook. Hope this helps.

I picked up a gorgeous 1985 500 SEC, euro import so the higher horsepower. 106k miles. I am on 16 inch BBS RA wheels, which are as smooth as butter. No SLS rear suspension. That makes things easier for maintenance but it doesn't drive quite as nice as the 560 SEC I once owned. Currently stock height with new front and rear shocks. Quite frankly I think I'll keep it this way for a while. I would love to see more videos on your SEC. It's a gorgeous example.

I also intend on lowering mine with the h and r springs as well. Something I'm looking into is adjustable rear suspention in terms of dampening and rebound. A benzworld member used a hydraulic resistor valve in line from the hydraulic struts to the accumulators. He can dial in a softer or a former suspention response at will
Christopher Penovatz please tell me more- I have 89 560sel and ‘95 s600 I’m trying to revive (the s600 has been sitting for 4 years about to go on 5 as I’m never had time to locate a replacement engine after I replaced certain harnesses and had the main harness replaced as I can’t get my hands all down in there)

I am very interested to see what you do with this car re mods as you would think you could really get horsepower and performance increased as you have a pretty nice engine to start with. I also have a 560 sl ( which are all over the place) and a 73 280sel 4.5... which you never see up here..

Your way seems the most reasonable because there’s no too much interference in car originality. Several reasons, it does look good depending on how it was done but braking performance is significantly better. And better handling and acceleration characteristics as well. The original springs are tired and 30 years old. Might as well upgrade while replacing soggy springs to quality H and Rs

I looked all over it and couldnt see any obvious problems. 11k for a car that was close to 100k when brand new ? What gives ? It had under 150k if I remember right. Im sure it could be expensive to fix a broken one, but id like to learn more about them.
I pulled the trigger and materialized my dream, in buying an 86 560 SEC last year. Very few problems. Legit. Im very happy that this purchase has been checked off the bucket list. Look at my videos. You shall see her.

Luckily for e, my car was a one owner out of Vegas and there's not a speck of rust anywhere on it. Much easier to do the rear work that way. Nice car, man!!
The stance on the SEC was always to high, especially on the front. I lowered my 1985 560SEC and love the look. Do you know where I can get aftermarket head lights. They make them for the sedan but not the coupe. Thanks for a well made video.

That is not true.. I am still alive, and can work on those hydraulic suspensions.
Beautiful car! The only thing it's missing is a set of period correct Ronal wheels.
