3 years ago I bought the very same model in Rotterdam (the Netherlands) and drove it through Germany to Hungary. As I floored on the Autobahn, I literally heard the engine sucking the gasoline like crazy. :) It was great to do 125 mph for like 10 minutes.

I used to own a 1986 560 SEC.
At one ocation I drove HARD from the town Uppsala to Helsingborg (Sweden, a distance of approx 650 km) in just over 3 hours.
That includes a stop for filling up 90 litres of gas at 2/3 of the trip.
I would say that my car guzzled some 2.2-2.3 litres per 10 km on that trip.
I can only agree with you, that car was great in 125 mph....
....but expensive to fill up.
With Swedish gas prices, filling up that 90 litre gas tank would set me back 1350 SEK (150 $).

In normal highway driving she needs at least 1,4 litres per 10 km.
City driving, at least 1,8 litres per 10 km.
Sport driving with a lot of accelerations, don't be suprized if she goes over 2,5-3 litres per 10 km.
That compared to my 2005 SAAB 9-5 2,3 turbo 260 hp
Highway driving 0,6 litres per 10 km
City driving 0,8-0,9 litres per 10 km
Sport driving with lots of accelerations 1,2-1,5 litres per 10 km.
My SAAB with a 1800 kg caravan coupled, around 1 litre per 10 km.
I do have to say. Just you sitting in these cars, makes me wanna buy one.

The 500 SEC American model was available with the V-8 SEC's do not come with a 6 cyl.The 500 euro had more power than the American 500 model.

A gray market car. I have a friend who has a Mercedes Benz 280 TE station wagon. TE stands for Tourer Einspritzen, Tourer is station wagon, Einspritzen is Fuel Injection in German. It's a nice car and the triangle in the trunk is a warning device. In German it's auctung means attention or warning. The wagon is a gray market model from Italy in which the gasoline engine was not available in the United States.

I have a 1986 500 SEC Euro with 4000 originals miles that my Mother purchase from Germany in 1985 she had to get it converted changing the steering wheel from the passenger side to the driver side it’s been sitting in my garage since 1987 it’s never been registered everything on it is Original
