They are lovely people....have an FTP 900, TDR S510XS, TX200, Pro Sport ....and all are incredible rifles! I had a couple of problems and they sorted them without issue and were excellent!! LOVE 'EM!!!!

That is some serious kit for world champion level shooting.
Does beg the question though. Do you need that much rifle for HFT?
Putting pellet on pellet at 40+ yards is what you'd expect for that level of gear but with so many top shooters adopting the new XTI family of rifles will it put off newcomers. Will they feel that they can't compete and go back to plinking.
Of course its all relative. This is a YT video and not a debate.
But wow £3000+ we paying for the R&D and the relative small number of sales.

Love my XTI. I was getting good (for me) scores with my HFT500. There are many people who shoot better than me with less expensive kit than my HFT500 setup.
I have been shooting just over a year and my advice would be to practice as much as you can and get involved in whatever competitions you can get to.
You will always compare scores, but you and the course are your only actual competition (until you can keep up with the best of them)
      Enjoy 👍

@@adrianwright6265I’m a bit late to this conversation, but here goes. I was considering purchasing a HFT 500, but am slightly put off by the fact that it’s not regulated. More and more rifles are coming out that are regulated, and Air Arms told me that they have no plans to fit a regulator. Do you think that it’s an issue. I’ve seen people shoot impressive groups with this rifle and was wondering how much extra the XTI 50 brings to the table. Many thanks.

I have a couple of HFT500s they are a great piece of kit and better than I am - most kit is. I bought one of the HFT500s off a friend at my local club. He had two different regulators on it during his ownership, the second needed the air cylinder drilling. He went back to no regulator, fitting a new cylinder as the regulators brought no score increases to the party, but proved to be something else that could go wrong. You will get more shots per fill when regulated. This HFT500 shoots well from about 170-120bar. I have digital pressure gauges on mine and have a very consistent sweet spot from about 164bar down to about 124bar which is plenty for a competition. I fill to 170bar giving me enough practice on the plink. I top up for long practices. Most of the people I have spoken to agree that the HFT500 does not need a regulator.
I was lucky enough to win my XTi and had some good results with it but am yet to match or beat my PB, though I suspect this will come in time - I am still tweaking fit and learning the rifle.
If you buy an XTi rather than an HFT500 there is no guarantee that the XTI will out-perform the HFT500 as both are capable of putting in perfect scores given the right shooter and conditions.
If you buy second-hand at the right price, you can move kit on without losing money if you want to move it on.
Good luck whichever way route you choose.
