Another neat little Easter egg: if you pay really close attention to the sounds in the opening scene, and the scene where Lewis goes back in time to see his mom, you'd realize that they actually sync up perfectly, in that Lewis was the noise that spooks his mom, as well as the one who knocked on the door in the beginning, after he'd already done everything.

And now the time loop is broken because dorris is never created and goob is adopted so nothing in the movie is canon

The crazy thing is, in most other languages the photo is changed to one of that dub's voice actor!
Actually, they made up the Tom Selleck joke before he got cast. They used that joke to convince him to do the voice for Cornelius as an adult.

When Wilbur said “your hair is a dead giveaway”” here is a hat to hide your hair” wasn’t because they don’t have blondes in the future but because in the future Lewis still wears his hair the same way he has it in the past.

Meet the Robertsons is one of my comfort movies, TBH. I watch it when I've had a bad day and I feel so much better.

I was surprised to hear that people hate this movie. I think it’s pretty great. I’ll admit it does have a weak story, but I love the way it deals with Family. No one really talks about it that much. And some of the people who do talk about it usually say it was a bad movie. I personally don’t think it is. It’s very entertaining and funny overall. The dinosaur scene I still think is really cool. I also thought the ending was pretty emotional. It definitely is a great movie. I loved it as a kid and I love it now.
Also, quite fitting that you posted this a day before Mother’s Day since the film was about Lewis trying to go back and find his real mother until he realized he already has a family.

It’s weird that ppl hate it. But then again, I feel like most Disney movies r pretty high quality and ppl find the most ridiculous of reasons to shit on or hate them. Even the company itself does it. So many live action media from Disney shits on the animated movies. When the animation is the main draw and has the better staff (tbh).

Goob ran away because he knew he didn’t deserve to be in Lewis family. He felt guilty for all the horrible things he had done
OMG one of my fav movies. Sad it doesn't really have that much traction in the commentary community. Was about to watch a movie, but this takes precedence. I'm adopted, and i know it was because my birth mom wanted the best for me and she knew that it wasn't her.

@@SophieLents Met her once when I needed to get my "adult" ID since my adoption wasn't on the books. She was happy with how big I've grown (adoptive parents fed me well), she was happy for the opportunities that my adoptive parents could provide me. Before I met her, I always felt angry and sad, thinking why would she "throw" me away, when I saw that she cried when we parted, I finally understood that, that was never the case.

Fun fact: This was the first Disney animated film under the studio's current name (Walt Disney Animation Studios) as well as the first one to have the current opening logo.
As for the movie itself, It was never one of my favorites from Disney but the one thing I love about it is how they paid tribute to Walt Disney himself by using one of his quotes as the film's message.
Wilbur saying Cornelius looks like Tom Selleck is a reference to the fact that he actually does voice Cornelius.
Now i remember this Movie!
I was so angry when the first couple rejected Luis becouse he didnt do Sports. (Yes, it was majorly becouse of the Allergic reaction, but you can see how they lost interest when he said he wasnt into Sport)
The Producer was adopted too. He said that when he was a child he wanted to find his mother and ask her the big question, but while he grew up he was so focused on his own Life that he forgot about it. Suddenly he rememberd that when he already had a family of his own.
The Hendersons interviewed Lewis because Lewis resembled them physically even though their interests would have led them to Michael.
After Michael loses the game, the Hendersons do interview him, but Goob has taken over, and polluted Michael's personality.
Future Goob was voiced by the director of the movie.
This movie means a lot to those of us that are adopted.
I watched this movie a lot when I was younger, I'm very glad that more people are seeing it! Really enjoyed this video, your commentary and humour are always entertaining! Now there's a random thing regarding this video and your one on Lilo and Stitch, I had this random thought a while ago about you saying my name (David) in one of your videos, then you watch Lilo and Stitch which has a David in it! Then I wondered if you'd see a film with either Trains or Dinosaurs in it (I've been really interested in both of those things since I was younger) and then you watch this, which has both haha! Just thought that was quite a coincidence!

A lot of people really need to see this movie or just the Disney quote at the end about keep moving forward because they keep complaining that Disney world and land are getting rid of old outdated attractions and then get angry when they are told it's what Walt Disney wanted

I watched this movie in the theaters when I was 5 years old and I just loved it, I like to say that my family is like a mix of Meet the Robinsons with The Croods and believe me it is

For me, I listen to the song “Another Believer” (the song that was used in the montage where Lewis is building the memory scanner) whenever I’m doing my homework or studying.
It is my firm belief that, just as Wilbur (Jimmy #2) disappeared when Bowler Hat Guy and Doris fled into the past with the (repaired) memory scanner, so Bowler Hat Guy disappeared when Lewis (Jimmy #1) woke up Goob at the baseball game. And then happy, adopted Goob grew up to become the owner of Playtime Planet, the unicorn-themed restaurant where Bowler Hat Guy and Doris plotted their revenge. Since Lewis could exist in the same time and place as his future self, so dark-timeline adult Goob could exist at the same time and place as best-timeline adult Goob.
I was so happy seeing this in my feed! This is really an underrated gem that needs more attention! So glad that you reacted to it Sophie :)
Another underrated gem from the Disney movie vault being given the due attention and reconsideration it deserves... Thank you, Sophie, for putting up this reaction! I still love it even after 15 years since it came out. The theme about family, you can never go wrong with it. I want to recommend a few suggestions for your next movie reaction order: The Parent Trap, The Prince of Egypt, A Goofy Movie, and if you haven't already but I might have missed it, The Incredibles. This movie is one of the more underrated Disney movies
Oh I love this movie that I definitely did not expected you filming me and my sister watch this a lot since when we were kids. Besides what I love about this movie now is that Adam west from Batman 1966 was in this.
I saw this movie with a group of friends and told them I really related Lewis we have the same last names and spent the first 8 years of our lives in an orphanage.
PS that how my friends found out I was adopted.

About this movie im agree: its a very simple story, nothing so particular (maybe the twist of the villain was the the biggest surprise) but its very, very enjoyable to watch from the start to the end, its a pleasant movie and still a great one for that :3

Man, this movie takes me back to my childhood. I used to watch this movie all the time. And yes I agree this movie is so underrated. And I remember that the soundtrack for this movie in my opinion was amazing. Rob Thomas(solo artist & singer for Matchbox 20), the Jonás Brothers, The All American Rejects, & other artists have contributed to the soundtrack for the film and Danny Elfman composed the score. Man I loved this movie.

I read somewhere that the blond couple who come are his birth parents. Plus if you look at them they have the same facial features
see as someone who literally watched this all the time as a kid, the allergic reaction scene always made me mad, like if they just said "hes allergic" rather than "we normally dont eat peanut butter" HE WOULD HAVE STOPPED POINTING AT THEM- his first reaction was "im sorry i didnt know" bc he literally didnt. like what person with an allergic reaction wouldnt tell someone whos shaking that thing at them that they are allergic? i get it, hes a kid, BUT HES A SMART KID like he wouldnt have kept shaking it at them if they just told him

Honestly as this is one of my favorite Disney movies, Doris is also one of my favorite Disney villains and female villains lol 🎩 she's so evil, causes the most amount of damage, high kill count off screen, slavery, and intelligent... while never saying a single word and only expressing in the noises/eye

What's funnier to me is that there is an actual grocery store called Robinson's and its logo is red & white, so your joke about how their house looks like a Target is perfection.

That was actually my first time watching this movie, I remeber when I was a kid of seeing trailers and mercy for this movie, but for some reason I never got to watch it.

This Disney film is actually great but for some reason, it didn't get the attention it deserves. The Bowler Hat Man is in the style of stock characters found in silent films and earlier stage melodrama, wearing black clothing and a top hat and with a handlebar moustache. One of the best characters who is like this is Snidely Whiplash of the cartoon "Dudley Do-Right". You ABSOLUTELY need to watch "Storks" (2016), a super funny animated movie. Plus, for time traveling comedy mayhem, you must react to the "Back to the Future" trilogy. 🎥❤

Aparently, though not that great of a success as Disney's high score movies, Meet The Robinsons was an important milestone in the studio's history; in early 2000's they were releasing flop after flop, and loosing to studios like Dreamworks and Pixar (I think this was Disney's 2nd attempt at digital animation? Their first was Chicken Little and that flopped /hard/)
It's one of the reasons why the motto 'Keep Moving Forward' is so prevalent in the movie, and why they put the Walt Disney quote at the end- Meet the Robinsons, while not a smash hit, was their exclamation of hope that things will get better
Chicken Little cost $150 million and made $310 million worldwide so it wasn't a huge hit (but also not a mega flop like Treasure Planet or Home on the Range).
It's also in the 2000's period of Disney Animation where they didn't make good films (this scored 37% on RT) and none were box office smashes or classics. The era was in between the classic 90's era and the current resurgence of the 2010's, nobody really holds that era in high regard, including Disney.
Technically Lewis is at fault still he didn't keep his roommates health in mind. Yes goob shouldn't have moved on tbut Lewis didn't have To keep his roommate up all night. That is why he decided to fix his mistaken wake him up
