I can think of 2 reasons she got bullied. Her looks and because she's nice. It's pretty obvious that she looks different and sometimes that's all it takes to bully. As for being too nice, that's also pretty common. I am pretty good looking and I always tried to not bother anyone as a kid. But I still got bullied. She is completely an ANGEL. Can you imagine having a friend like her that is naturally so caring and honest? Also I'm sure everyone's discussed this, but he is so amazing as well. Specifically like his ability to be empathetic and carry a conversation through a difficult conversation like loss.
@Ed dude being an empath myself, we have the ability to sense what others are feeling, some take in that feeling as if it's their own. When watching a show or movie you're invested in, say for instance extreme home make over, the reveal when the people break down in tears of joy when seeing their new home that they desperately needed. if you felt their joy and teared up yourself. Or you could be watching it just like...ehh, they got a new house, big deal. Or listening to someone talk at a funeral about someone you didn't even know, but you still teared up because you felt their emotions so strongly.
@💣 Troll bombs 💣 This is just called empathy. No one can actually sense what other people are feeling. We're not psychics. We can, however, imagine ourselves in other people's shoes, and so we can elicit similar emotional responses.
She's very smart very sweet, very beautiful and just awesome! She makes me laugh just because she laughs! She's contageuos! She can just look at you and make you laugh!

Kids are kids , most of us all were picked on , or , and picked on others . Most I hope grow up and realize it was wrong . We get out of a school life and learn . The schools are to fit in with peers , it's not for all . A separate school is best , why they combined them is beyond me .
I have an older brother, and we are very close too. Our relationship is the best thing that has ever happened to me; I feel so incredibly lucky to have such an older brother. Thanks for sharing your experience with Williams syndrome, and your sibling friendship!
The first time I heard about Williams Syndrome was in an article I recently read about dogs. In the article it said that dogs had the same mutation that causes Williams Syndrome and it is this mutation that makes them so able to be loving and happy. The researcher who discovered this was afraid was that this would be insulting to the father of a son who had Williams Syndrome. He answered that if his son had a tail he'd be wagging it.
honestly, I'm jealous of people with actual good relationships with their siblings. my brother is 13 years older than me, so i never actually experienced having a sibling you can watch movies or videos with, or just genuinely hang out with... yeah i have other family members but they're completely different, plus my mom doesn't let me interact with my cousins, who are 13 and 11 (dad's side) and actually share the same interest as me, we 3 like JoJo's. but yeah i stopped talking to them because my mom is strict with my paternal family. and my maternal family is just problematic so... 🤷 this became a vent, sorry 😂 accident
Wow... this is like. The complete opposite of sociopathy. Its hyper empathy to the point that it can be dibilitating. This was very insightful. Thank you.
It has been said that pan paniscus (bonobo: playful prosociality/sociosexuality for promotion of group stability regardless of age and gender) also has similar variant of domestication syndrome to Williams syndrome which causes them to be slightly more emphathethic and tolerant compared to humans and pan troglodytes (chimpanzees: described as more despotic and more interested in proactive political games over status and fertile females) which are said to be more prone to proactive aggression. Obedience to abstract laws and authorities in general population due to self-domestication syndrome according to the Goodness Paradox is another factor for humans.
@@vetlerradio Strangely, in some parts of the world the same dog breed can be more reactively aggressive than other parts of the world. Probably situational socioecological environment also is at play.

He speaks with what I would call "positive-leaning neutral tone." It's the *exact* way I speak to children. The younger the kid, the more exaggerated the tone. It's actually very similar to how children themselves talk, so they respond quite well to it (they might even mistake you for one of them momentarily lol). Though, it certainly has the drawback of not appearing genuine over a large sample size. To speak on what someone else said: He could really spice it up with a bit more charisma (Anthony Padilla tends to nail this, but Anthony & Chris are a bit apples & oranges), however, I think he may be trying to be consistent across all his videos (i.e. not showing more love to someone over another), bc that could be detrimental to his image, brand, channel, and overall mission/goal of his work. The problem with that, as someone who is charismatic and able to see/dissect his "speech craft," is that it can be a little off putting depending on who he's talking with. I think he may have intentionally hit her with the "are you happy we're friends" stuff bc he probably picked up that she likes him (it seemed obvious to me) and didn't want to set any expectations beyond the original intent of the interview. I can sit here all day and come up with reasons to justify the way he speaks, and reasons to criticize it. But even the times when he comes off to me as not being completely genuine, I just remember what I'm watching... And ultimately, it doesn't matter if he is genuine or not, or if his intent is altruistic or not, bc his channel is making the world a better place, and allowing people we didn't even know existed to feel heard & accepted from a community of open-minded, compassionate people... and you can't put a price on that.
@@foofookachoo1136 Really? He sounds like a very talented speaker. I've also learned a lot from the way he pronounces and enunciates words. That's a very nice idea but there are trade-offs with everything. The price she paid to be this lovely is her ability to function in a complex society. You don't even need to have WS to be too nice to function, I've been there. It's not even that mean people take advantage of you, you literally have no space in your head to worry about your own problems. But, maybe one day evolution will work its magic and in a million years we can be this nice and still manage to take care of business.

Midway through my teaching career, I had the privilege of teaching special needs students at the high school level in Florida. One of my students had Williams Syndrome. During his second year with me, he developed cardiomyopathy and had to have a heart transplant. Thank God he did well after the surgery and came back to school and graduated. These students are truly angels on Earth.
I once taught a teenager with this syndrome for many years - Probably the most memorable student I have ever had. No matter how bad my day was (or how infuriated I was with his peers perhaps!) he was always there to keep things grounded and simple for me.
I worked with a child with Williams syndrome about 20 years ago now. I was about 16 and I worked at an after school program with him. He was an absolute delight - extremely emotional, and he would give me INSTANT feedback on how I had made him feel. That desire for direct engagement made him pretty tough to manage in a group - I can understand how she ended up homeschooled. Oh also - folks with WS absolutely love music. I’ve never seen anybody moved so much!

When I was teaching in a technical school, one of my students had Williams. She was a wonderful ray of sunshine, studied REALLY hard and learned lots of great office skills. Not everyone understood right away, but I tried to create space for people to understand her way of functioning by doing a few talks on understanding differences between all of us. Everyone got used to her. She ended up making friends with most classmates and even people who were wired to be stand-offish learned to just let her be.

Alexandra seems like a really cool person, her laugh seriously brightens up the sky. However, I think saying she doesn't have a disability is condescending, I can imagine so many things being hard for her in everyday life. Instead of saying "wow more people should be like you", we should be in conversation with her and people like her about how we can make society more accompanying
Yes, people in the comment section should really stop romanticizing such a difficult condition that will affect this person it a lot of different domains throughout her life. I wonder if any single one of these people would enjoy living with this condition themselves for even one day. (Spoiler alert: they wouldn't.)
most of the time (at least for me) my disabilities are difficult to manage because people tell me i’m normal or there’s nothing wrong with me. being disabled isn’t a bad thing, but it’s not really something to be jealous of. it’s like when kids would take your crutches when you broke your leg because they think they’re fun to use, not realizing you NEED the crutches and they’re still kind of annoying to use, and you’d probably rather just be able to walk. i’m not a hero for being autistic, but i’m also not a helpless baby. i’m a person with struggles like anyone else, autism is one of mine.
I guess the message here is to just accept people as people - for however they are, "disability" or not. If someone bothers you or makes you uncomfortable, you don't have to hang around or be friends with that person. If you do, then you can if you want. "Can't everybody just get along?"
She is just the cutest and sweetest girl. It is heartbreaking to hear she was bullied. I pray that she has embraced the beautiful person she is inside and out and loves herself for who she is. William's Syndrome is still a disability. It doesn't just cause the increase in empathy - it also leads to emotional outbursts, an increase in impulsivity that puts them at risk, a variety of cognitive and motor function difficulties and a shorter lifespan. Those with William's can live full, happy lives, but claiming that the world would be better if everyone had these conditions only hurts disabled people in the long run, as it doesn't acknowledge the parts of the disorders that negatively affect them.
@@ka-im5nd I disagree. A diamond is created from the most extreme of pressures. Long life spans are not necessary a good thing. Having to overcome challenges always makes you a better person. A life of comfort and joy is probably the worst thing that can happen to you.

A very articulate, young lady who is obviously a deep thinker. She has a high EQ. It’s tragic that such a sweet, kind, caring person would be bullied simply because she is a little different and they are missing out on a wonderful experience.
No, it's a disability. As she said in the video, she's "an adult with a disability". It does have some positive impacts, like an increase in affection and empathy, but it also causes a number of problems. It causes increases in impulsivity that can put them in danger, it causes emotional outbursts, it reduces your lifespan, it leads to cognitive and motor difficulties, as well as increased anxiety and depression. William's Syndrome's impact on affection specifically can be a very positive thing, but portraying disabilities as purely positive or as "superpowers" damages disabled people, because it means people are less likely to acknowledge the negative impacts that the disabilities have. I'm not saying this out of anger for you or anyone who talks like this, but calling any disability a superpower is harmful to those who live with those conditions.

She is completely an ANGEL. Can you imagine having a friend like her that is naturally so caring and honest? Also I'm sure everyone's discussed this, but he is so amazing as well. Specifically like his ability to be empathetic and carry a conversation through a difficult conversation like loss.
It's like she's born with a superpower!
She probably learns really fast as well because you need lots of serotonin to make strong neurological connections
@@jenm1 I am not sure what you mean by that, I don't think it's true.
She's a natural empath. That sisterly bond and love is incredible.
@Ed dude you may be highly sympathetic and want to help people.
It breaks my heart that anyone would ever bully this beautiful soul. I find her so refreshing and warm and I wish this world were safer for people who love so purely
Kids are kids , most of us all were picked on , or , and picked on others . Most I hope grow up and realize it was wrong . We get out of a school life and learn . The schools are to fit in with peers , it's not for all . A separate school is best , why they combined them is beyond me .
The absolute love between the sisters is palpable, beautiful.
🤷
this became a vent, sorry 😂 accident
...and absolute love ,in the heart of this very , very cute and beloved girl .
Wow... this is like. The complete opposite of sociopathy. Its hyper empathy to the point that it can be dibilitating. This was very insightful. Thank you.
Yess , wow you are exactly right !
@@uvwuvw-ol3fg Really interesting, I also read somewhere that dogs also have a genetic condition similar to Williams Syndrome.
@@vetlerradio Strangely, in some parts of the world the same dog breed can be more reactively aggressive than other parts of the world. Probably situational socioecological environment also is at play.
@@uvwuvw-ol3fg Yeah but according to research the main reason this subgroup of apes are able to exist its because they are from a dense in food sources area blocked from many other dangers, competitive and agressive behaviour arises from strife due to poor access to ressources and adversity of the elements, these genes thrive in an encapsulated part of the jungle.

Chris is genuinely SO good at communicating with any type of person. We can all learn a thing or two about the way he speaks to others.
This is my first time watching this channel and I noticed right away like wow
@@-danny. Right! This was only the second video I watched and he got my sub right away
one word Emphatty !!
He speaks with what I would call "positive-leaning neutral tone."
It's the *exact* way I speak to children. The younger the kid, the more exaggerated the tone.
It's actually very similar to how children themselves talk, so they respond quite well to it (they might even mistake you for one of them momentarily lol).
Though, it certainly has the drawback of not appearing genuine over a large sample size.
To speak on what someone else said:
He could really spice it up with a bit more charisma (Anthony Padilla tends to nail this, but Anthony & Chris are a bit apples & oranges), however, I think he may be trying to be consistent across all his videos (i.e. not showing more love to someone over another), bc that could be detrimental to his image, brand, channel, and overall mission/goal of his work.
He talks in an almost exaggeratedly friendly manner, but this is primarily to disarm and relax the speaker, who naturally feels more comfortable revealing things when they're not threatened or intimidated. If he sounds irritating or gets on your nerves, then it's your issue...

most of the time (at least for me) my disabilities are difficult to manage because people tell me i’m normal or there’s nothing wrong with me. being disabled isn’t a bad thing, but it’s not really something to be jealous of. it’s like when kids would take your crutches when you broke your leg because they think they’re fun to use, not realizing you NEED the crutches and they’re still kind of annoying to use, and you’d probably rather just be able to walk.

@@ka-im5nd i understand. I was commenting a positive thought i had. By mentioning a positive side of who she is, i was not trying to ignor the fact williams syndrom would be very dissabling. It didn't occure to me to comment on any of the less happy or positive aspects of her disability, because she uplifted me with her sweet soul, and i felt inspired by her & wanted to say something positive, because i know alot if people would say negative things. I understand completely what you are saying, and you explained everything beautifully. I hope you understand where i was coming from. 😊
This is the second comment I come across from you that romanticizes this unfortunate and difficult condition. I do believe it's past time you apologize for your naive comments and recognize that Williams syndrome is not something to be praised by any means at all.
The person in this video is not gifted by her condition, it brings a lot of difficulties for her and will continue to throughout her life. Many people are offended by your comments and I am too, rightly so.
I urge you to reconsider your point of view and quit stop justifying your unfortunate and out of place comments.
@@marc2377 ok he apologized, he meant well but you explained things so he could better understand, now he does, let's move forward. Xx
@@faithhope7704 you're right :) fair enough.
The way he turns the sad talks of loss and death to happiness that they're together is so heartwarming. He's an awesome friend to who he meets and amazing interviewer
I am so grateful this channel and the comments are back. This channel warms my heart. She truly is a reminder of what we need more of.
This lady has the power that makes people happy.
I've learned a lot from her.
I can totally understand why the sister's just dying to take her home. I already miss her after the video ended. What a precious, sweet soul.
Alexandria is beautiful inside and out. Her family is absolutely incredible & beautiful as well. We all can learn from Alexandria & her family 🎉 They are blessed, just as they are a blessing to others.❤💖🩷
I have Autism, but I have a close friend of mine with this condition. She's a genuinely good friend who in all honesty is too good for our world. My buddy David who has Down Syndrome is the same way. We as humans can't have nice things or nice people until we learn to take care of them
She is amazing. Syndrom or not, I wish more people were like her, the world would be a more loving place.
Such a lovely young woman. She is a present to humankind.
She is lovely and sweet. We all feel lonely at time. I am an older lady, 72 this year, but a widow, and others pass away. But happy is joy you have inside and smiling tells others you are happy. Anxiety is hard even for me. Prayers are a huge help. You are a treasure and blessing to those you are with.
She is such a beautiful soul. God has truly blessed her with a special gift. Her gift of joy is so contagious.
He also gave me a gift
I cheesed so hard through the whole thing
Such blessing be unable to take care of herself.
