    This looks awesome! Only thing I can recommend is, cover your clutch. Don't be afraid to ride the clutch when you are going slow, it is wet for a reason. A good way that I practiced with this is riding really slow in a straight line while standing up. When you ride the clutch, you are able to keep the engine reving higher which helps you balance, and its easier on your cams, since it doesn't lose oil pressure.

      Thanks for the comment! after this race I realize how important the clutch is, I can’t wait to do this race next year! Hopefully I’ll do better lol

    Awesome video amigo. Don't see many KLX R videos. i bought a 2021 6 months ago. Old dude gettin back into single track enduro trails. 59+. Low maintenance. Plenty of power for 6' -220lb. A little cramped but added a few mods that are helping with that. i know this vid is old but yes .....to high a gear and too little clutch work and you must get up on those oversize aftermarket pegs i know you bought even if you still have it. 45 miles is about my limit now....maybe 50. You did an awesome job amigo and represented well for all the KLX300R riders out there.

    I'm liking this new KLX more and more all the time. From watching guys making good laps on a moto-x track to single track Kawasaki did what they've always been good at. Making a decent bike for a good price. With good riding skills and practice be able to beat many others on big $$$ machines. I'm 55 this year and have one bike, a 2012 KTM 690 Enduro R on/off road, but would love this KLX just to trail ride and have a lot of fun for less than half the price. Keep after it and ride a lot and work yourself up to riding hard for hours at a time. Weight isn;t really awful if the bike is set up nicely to do a good job of hiding it which it seems to do. The E start is worth it though if you lay it down and flood it for sure. I used to stand up riding more and more to help with staying loose and not riding tense to keep the arm pump down. A good set of wide pegs and bar height set just right and suspension dialed in for you can make a hge difference for you. I raced Yamaha IT;s and old air cooled KDX175s back in the day..Those were light right around 200lbs so very easy to throw around. you kept going and finished on your first race and that is a good start. I liked the single track trails. Nice and smooth and not full of big rocks and ruts. Nice trails..looked like a great time.

      You’re 100% right, what matters the most when riding a dirt bike is the skills you have, and in my opinion this bike is perfect to master your skills. yes I’m trying to ride as much as I can, I would love to ride 2 or 3 times a week, but I work night shift so I’m always sleeping during the day. And yeah that race was really fun, the weather was perfect, the trail was amazing, everyone was super nice. Thanks a lot for your comment! Take care :)

    You did good especially for your 1st race,the arm pump is rough I know.
    I am working on $ for the same bike,I used to race a KDX 175 also,and was fast,now I'm 62 I know I better not overdue it cause at 62 the bones will not heal as fast(broke left finger in 1981 for poping a pine tree) I dont think they even had bark busters back then,enjoyed you vid,just remember not to ride over your head,even tho a well know road racer (Josh Hayes) says if your not scaring yourself you not riding to your potential! I will go with my plan!!

    Good job there! 🤘 I ordered a 2021 KLX300R in March of this year (2020) and waited for delivery until mid October. Rode it three times in the mountains around my area (Sawtooth Mountain range, Idaho) and two days after the break-in service avout three weeks ago I put it on consignment at the KTM dealership. Wife put her KLX140R up for sale as well. My bike sold two days ago and I made about a grand over what they would have offered me, which covers the negative equity on her bike. My KTM300XC-W and her KTM250XC-W are on their way. I am about 6’5” and 195lbs (currently) and the KLX was way to underpowered for me as was hers for her tall frame (6’0” and 134lbs). Oh well, live and learn! But, nonetheless, you did a great job. Especially your first time on some brutal single track, body beating, numb arms, damage you took. Mad Props 😃

    • @themarcopolo.
      @themarcopolo.  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The good thing is that you guys were able to find a bike that fits your needs! I have heard that KTMs are amazing! I went for the klx300r because it was my first bike and it is a good bike for beginners because it has controllable power and maintenance is easy :) Thank you so much for watching and thanks for the comment!! Happy holidays!

      @@themarcopolo. that is what we were thinking as well. I raced Moto-Cross starting at 11 years old and eventually made it to 250 expert class with local bike shops sponsorship.. I assumed that the 300R was plenty bike for me because we didn’t know about the suggested engine displacement ratio to body weight formula. Each pound of my weight I would need two cc’s, for 4-stroke and it is one to one in a 2-stroke. I am 6’5” and about 200lbs. I needed at least a 400. The bike struggled for me when I would get into it. The salesman didn’t try to upsell me to the KX450 or, since they sell Beta’s and Husky’s try to coax me into one of them. Live and learn eh? You did great 👍 that ditch kicked some serious ass n people though 😉

    No shame in that especially for your first single track enduro event, good job. Is there anything about that bike you would change for riding events like that? I use an enduro converted RMZ250 for enduro's and leisure riding, but it's a pain in the ass for leisure riding which I do more of. I was looking at going for this bike and getting rid of the RMZ, how do you like it so far, would keep considering this bike for this type of racing?

    • @themarcopolo.
      @themarcopolo.  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, back when I recorded this video, I wanted to put the full fmf exhaust and a power commander V and I already did, so feel like the bike is as ready as it can be for this type of races. The only problem I think this bike has is the weight... she doesn’t feel like a heavy bike when you’re on her, but when you gotta pick her up for the 4th time it stops being fun lol. Yes I feel like this is a really capable bike and I’ll continue to use her for racing. You just gotta keep in mind that this bike is probably slower and heavier than the RMZ250 you have. Let me know if you have any other questions! Thanks for the comment!

    Does the KLX300R like to catch neutral when downshifting from 2nd to first? It's a chronic problem with my YZ250X, really hurts on the gnarly climbs. Great riding man!

    Keep after it buddy. Don’t get yourself convinced you need the best bike their is to have fun. That bike will give you little to no issues and will be more than enough bike for almost anyone to have fun in the woods. You dont need a new 450 to have fun riding, remember that.

    • @smeggysmeg2837
      @smeggysmeg2837 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      very true. 450 is too much for the woods actually, and many people ride bikes too powerful for their ability and conditions. 30hp give or take a bit is all you need for most off road riding. traction and maneuverability are much easier to find on 250. an old wr250f is currently my favorite off road bike

    • @themarcopolo.
      @themarcopolo.  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Freeman thank you for your comment! And tbh that’s a hard question, I think this bike is almost perfect for the style of riding I’m doing right now, but if I had the opportunity to go back I would buy a wr250, because it’s lighter (it’s like 40lb lighter), it’s a bike made for enduro (the klx is a “trail bike”), I’m sure it has more aftermarket than the klx and I’ve seen some really cool reviews of it.
