Thank you for the kind comment. It was a fun video to make since I did not know how it would turn out!!! It is often hard to know when it is worth spending the extra money on a better tool if it is not being used commercially. There is no one "right answer" for everyone since it varies person to person how it will be used. My goal of most of my videos is to let people see the differences between tools through testing to help people see the general level of each tool before they purchase. I'm pretty sure the thermo protection has to do with the motor getting iver heated from use whether covering vent holes or not they still get over heated. Better to have it take a nap than burn out. I also have both of these drills having recently switched to the brushless im enjoying them. I have 4 the regular drill lol i was buying them on clearance to get a battery for less than the price of the battery alone. Switching to the 4 AH battery is the next performance jump i would suggest.

Plus lets face it, I was abusing the drill beyond what a reasonable person would expect from a tool at this price point. 100s of holes in row on a sub $80 drill is asking allot... and it did it!! I have also noticed it is sometimes cheaper to buy a tool with batteries than get the batteries separate, especially online. Then you can ebay the tool you did not really need!! These are indeed both 20v drills. But what Wattage is on the brushless and that on the brushed? they could be rated for different amps, and thus one motor is simply more powerful not because it is brushless, but because it has better magnets, or rated for higher amperage... If it's rated for higher amps, then 1. Motor would be more powerful. 2. You would get voltage sag if used continually, hence the brushless would stop due to severe voltage sag, which would then recover once you stop using it for a while. Thus, this simply shows that they put a higher amperage brushless motor in the brushless drill. You should have tried the brushed drill again, as it would probably come back for a bit as well, since it too would have voltage sag.
Watched a guy throw a almost new hart brushed drill,battery and charger in trash can at a car wash soon as he left I went to look and it looked like it may have been used once or twice, so I took it home battery wouldn’t charge looked around on TH-cam found out battery was probably too dead for it to charge so I jumped it with a old kobalt battery I have and after a little while the battery started charging and so far has been working for a few weeks haven’t done much with it but can’t beat it for the price 🤣
That is fantastic!!! I have seen a couple of reviews on the Walmart website where people have said they could not get their "new" batteries from a kit to charge. I suspect (wild guess) that there were kits that were sitting around for quite a while. I wonder how many could have been fixed with this trick!! I have also seen people with tools they have not used in years have the same issue and resolved it the same way. I will note for anyone thinking of doing this, do so at own risk since lithium-ion battery fires are hard to put out!!! Seek help of a competent electronics expert to help prevent fires..... Do so at own risk.... etc....Undesired fire bad!! Congratulation on winning the free tool lottery!!!
Brushless motors are easier to control, don't have carbon brushes to wear out and are far more power efficient. Brushed motors don't require complex electronics and are cheaper but will likely require new brushes if used daily.

It is from a SNL (Saturday Night Live) skit from 1993 by Chris Farley that, at least for my generation, has turned into a well know phrase. If you search for "living in a van down by the river" on youtube I suspect it will show up on the offcial SNL channel. If you google the same phrase you will several people asking where the phrase originated. It might be a regional saying not used throughout the US. Have a great day and thank you for the comment!!

Plus if you go to the Walmart website, you can see bundles for vastly different prices than buying things separately. Plus, the prices do seem to change. I see people on ebay selling new tools in the box with the battery and charger removed. They are being clear in the description that they have removed the batteries and charger. So I guess that is a business model for some people, buy the bundles, then sell the items separately. I have bought a few chargers from people doing that. Thank you again for the comment!!
Thank you for your comment. I agree!! In general, within any given brand, if there is only a $20 difference between a brush and a brushless kit, for most people, I would say go brushless. However, I just looked and I am not seeing anything in stock showing only a $20 difference with batteries. But I know stock and pricing changes allot!! Normally, just after I buy something... the price drops!! 😂 The only exception might be for a person who is only getting a drill to hang the occasional picture frame who is on a very tight budget. For them even a 12 volt brushed motor is all they need in most cases. Thank you again for your comment!!
