  • GC James and Kyndra Light give me a tour through their 99% complete 3D printed home as they put the finishing touches on for an open house TODAY! This home on Clay St in Tallahassee FL is soon to have a new owner. Unlike many of the other homes we have seen this home is virtually indistinguishable from a regular home inside and out. At first glance this home looks like any regular house but if you look closely at some of the curved edges you immediately get the feel it is something unique. During the construction of this project James' brother Kevin Light passed away, Kevin was an instrumental part of this project and he had a vision for the future of construction automation through 3d printing. This project is dedicated to the memory of Kevin Light and his passion for construction technologies which will uplift living standards for people everywhere.

That's great but my home ( stick built) is very well insulated. Just today at sunrise it was 27 degrees outside and my thermostat showed 65 degrees inside. We like it cool in our home a 38 degrees difference before my thermostat kicks on... that's phenomenal. I'm wondering if these printed homes can match that. I had a friend that had a cinder block home and he always complained it was too cold in winter and costly to heat it. Only time will tell but I very much like this technology.

congrats! Brave and Bold has a price. I'm in Sebring Florida and have a very different kind of build in mind. I'm looking for a tiny 800sqf shell with no interior walls (open concept) and flat slopped back roof in Sebring Florida. I like the natural 3rd print texture inside and out. Is building small cost effective?
Also wondering are you walls filled with foam insulation?

Great opportunity. Many new houses echo until occupied I've been told by an old school construction soul.
Also, there are soundproofing techniques that can be incorporated into the process.
We are not limited to just one type of printer style, printhead or filament. This is just their first house. With all that is going on in Florida (and elsewhere) now, post Hurricane Ian, I can't wait to see what the Lights are going to print next!
The old Macintosh commercial of the 1980's is still true, especially given the possibilities that printing offers. "It''s an exciting time to be alive."
Print On 'Till Victory Is Won! Yes we can print so many of our solutions. JOY! Even the sounds are getting better.
