It becomes YOUR HOME and you can decorate it to reflect your individuality! Love it! But remember, you also have to purchase the property it's going to be installed! THAT ain't cheap!

      @artist one ok we get it. You don't like this type of housing. Who are you anyway? Some sort of "Super Troll" on here. I've read all of your comments on this vlog. They're all negative. So don't invest in one of these homes.
      I like this idea. The company builds it in the factory. Delivers the home to your site and sets it up in like a day. The buyer of course has to coordinate setting up water and power. This gives the owner options like, Solar energy, Rainwater reclamation or well water, Propane or all electric for power and heat etc... I can purchase a beautiful lot down the street from me (5 acres) for $13,000. And taxes, well we all gotta pay taxes. Even after you're dead and cold in the ground the damned government comes for their taxes. With all of these costs I can still see this home coming in under $100,000.
      So what's your problem?

    • @markbtw7987
      @markbtw7987 4 ปีที่แล้ว +39

      Maybe at some point, but you could build a basic 20x20 stick and brick for $15,000 easy (finished out inside). The solution to homelessness is cutting municipal regulations so that it's easy to build 20x20 semi off-grid units in the $7,000-$20,000 price range. Homelessness becomes a problem when there's barely any options in between tent city squaller and $2,000/mo apartments.

      @@caasi09ification Their poor living situation absolutely exacerbates their issues. Don't tell me you wouldn't be a mentally unstable drug addict until you've been forced onto the street, unable to get a shower, sleep in a bed, go anywhere without having all of your stuff stolen, etc. It could happen to anyone. We need to lower minimum wage so that more jobs open up for these people to re-enter society. I sympathize greatly with homeless drug addicts but their work isn't worth $15/hr until they prove themselves. But if bare bones housing is more than $350/mo, it won't work. There's no logical reason you shouldn't be able to find a place to stay today for $350/m0 in any metropolis city no matter how populated. That's step one.
      At that point, they could afford a modest rent for a bare bones 20x20 studio. Some may only need 10x10 to regain sanity. Solar panels, community water and bathrooms, etc. LA has plenty of space where they could allow people to build their own tiny houses in place of the tent cities. Japanese style guest houses are another great idea. The problem is that in the US landlords can't just kick people out if they're a nuisance to other tenants, so these kind of guest houses become a problem. There should be creative and innovative solutions popping up everywhere, but regulations thwart it. The real estate lobbyist are pulling the strings of the municipal politicians in places like LA and San Francisco. They will pay for their mistakes more and more as homelessness becomes worse and worse.

    I’m definitely interested in alternatively built housing. I watch a lot of tiny house & other alternative housing vids. Maybe for myself in the future,...but I think it is the wave of now and the future. It almost HAS to be. Our world demands it, needs it. Traditional building is going to become more of a luxury. And people are getting tired of having to sink 30 or more years into a mortgage or just not being able to own and struggling to pay outrageous rents and maybe staying at a job they hate to pay for a roof over their head. People are clamoring for something else. Box-built, modular, tiny houses, tiny houses on wheels, RVs, boat houses, converted buses and shipping containers are all being used to create cheaper, flexible, more energy efficient and affordable living. Great vid. Thanks!

Of course, I think there will always be a need for the traditional built houses for those who can afford it, but this gives more options to those who cannot. I found this because I was searching for modular homes (which I was shocked how nice they are). I'd love love love to invest in something like this. Land is the major concern, shipping of course too, but I feel Boxable has that part solved for modular homes. I'd look at a company that can offer a 'package' deal to work with other professionals, they need to get this sorted. This is ideal, buying land is a headache. I really love this concept. I think homes should be affordable. Living in California they are not, the homeless rates are ridiculous. I think the government should look into something like this and make home buying incentives for people who make less than 50,000 or 100,000 a year.
    They totally have my vote. I think the way houses are built should be re-looked at and the cost-effectiveness of 'buying' a home too.

    They could take my $100 for my interest! I ❤️ this. But, I don’t know what the shipping costs would ultimately be outside of the Nevada region. What I love is that one could start with what they can afford, like a basic unit, but can then build out or stack on top if there’s not enough land. I’d do anything to get out of my 1 bedroom apartment. With the exception of the cost of the land, perhaps many more could pay cash for their home.

      So, it’s 5 months later. As per Kristina’s question regarding whether or not people are more likely to like this type of home or a traditional home, I consider the pandemic and WFH (work from home) culture, which is growing. But, it “may” be growing in painful spurts. I’ve now been WFH for 5 months and, of course, that gets ideas dancing in my head, where I might be able to buy a cheaper plot if land than where I currently live, drop a modular home and, if things change in the future, perhaps, I can move that home elsewhere. However, things have remained up on the air. My employer has been talking about bringing us back in for the past 2 months but, a continued rise in CoronaVirus cases has made that unpredictable. Still, I fill that my options are trimmed as, I’m not interested in a long commute. Been there. Done that. So, while I rather like the mobility and expandability of it, I’m just stuck in stasis.

If I could buy a bit of land and get it ready I would have everything I need. I have been looking at tiny homes for a long time. The main problem I have with them is the loft. I can't crawl around on the floor to get to bed and if the bed is down stairs then you usually have to be an acrobat to put the sheets on. I am not even certain that I could climb a ladder. I'm totally digging modular. The roof on these is the sticking point. A roof must have a pitch for roll off

      Our units do have a small pitch. Other areas that require larger pitch need an added roof system.

      @Joe Duke Yes that's something we might roll out in the future.

    I was very impressed with this video... Such an amazing concept at such an affordable price! I live in Canada and know that if this was available here, there would be a huge demand for such homes. I could certainly see these for the second home for people who want a summer home apart from where they live. If it were possible, I would buy one for my son, but he does live on a small Island, so I know that would be problematic for delivery... It is a really great idea for so many different applications. Traditional home building will continue I am sure for a long time to come.

      If that island gets their supplies by ship it looks to be the size of a shipping crate on a truck. Same with ferry. I don’t see that as a hurdle if either scenario is the case. The problem would be unloading it unless it’s on a slide type trailer that drives out from under it.
