Hi! I’m Singaporean. Love the positive vibes and filming style in your vlogs. Thumbs up on making effort to interact with the local people and service staff. Actually most of the F&B and retail staff are foreign workers from neighbouring countries. Cost of living in Singapore is indeed high compared to other neighbouring Asian countries besides Japan, Korea and Taiwan. However our salaries are also much higher, hence attracting a lot of migrant workers here. Also, with our strong Singapore dollars, Singaporeans can stretch their dollars when visiting other countries to shop and eat. Hence, I feel the pain of tourists from non-first world and undeveloped countries visiting us. Anyway, hope you have a great and rewarding time in Singapore as you immerse yourself in our unique multi-racial environment and diverse culture and food experiences. Stay safe and have fun. ❤
@romyhamid1888 Yes, a lot of the service staff are foreigners from developing countries or from our neighbour, Malaysia. I find the Finipinos very courteous and customer oriented. Honestly, Kampung Gelam is a tourist area. Everything is quite expensive there. I usually go to Geylang Serai around Joo Chiat Road to get affordable food and Muslimah clothes. Majority are Muslims over there as well and mostly from Malaysia and Indonesia. Kampung Gelam have mostly Arab Muslims that's why there's Turkish, Lebanese, Mediterranean food, etc. You can get Malay food at Geylang Serai Market. Their nasi padang, satay, all very nice. But need to go in the morning around 9-11am. Most stall will close by 4pm or earlier.
I am Singaporean but to be fair, all Southeast Asians are friendly and one advantage about Singaporeans is that most of us speak English which makes it easier to communicate compared with other South East Asia Countries.
I m a Singaporean Chinese and I find your video fascinating. I never knew the local Muslim community came from all over the world. I love the vibe and how you interact with people and then find common root, that is so touching.
Strange you didn't know this as Singapore is a tiny country and quite diverse unless the chinese Singaporeans live segregated lives and dont like to mix?
Assalamualaikum Mr. Myer, you do have a very easy and personable character. No airs at all. Please continue with what you're doing. Good luck with all your endeavours. Insya Allah.
Mr. Myer:I can’t wait to watch your amazing new video this morning from Singapore City, Singapore this week in October of 2024❤❤❤Thanks you so much for this great video this week in 2024❤❤❤
The thing is you can find cheap food. Its just that u are in touristy areas with jacked up prices. If u go to hawker centres or explore the heartlands, a murtabak can be $5
Kampung Glam or Gelam is basically the face of the Muslim community. If you’re looking for the heart, you should check out Geylang Serai, which you should have gone to while you were in Katong. Oh well!
Yeah Geylang Serai is so underrated man. Our government needs to do something to bring attention to the place. I never ever see any tourists visiting the place or see them mentioning it on their vlogs. But I guess the residents around the area would probably not be too happy if their neighbourhood is constantly swamped by tourists all the time.
Myer really skipped all the hawker centres in the last 3 episodes. Hope you can enjoy the food at Geylang Serai, Tekka Centre, Sims Vista next time at half the price or less. Halal Thai, halal Italian, halal Brunch and halal Dim Sum are also available within 30min bus ride at different price point.
Food in Singapore cost more because of higher overhead - mainly rental, staff salaries, ingredients are mostly imported. The rental alone can kill the business. Better not compare prices with other Asian countries as overhead there cost much lower. Just get what you wish to eat and just talk about the food, compare the quality and taste here in Singapore and the other countries. The murtabak here is made differently than in Malaysia. If you compare, Tasneem's murtabak is even different than next door Zam Zam's and Victory's. Personally, I prefer Zam Zam's murtabak.
Cendol/Chendol is typically served either in a cup or in a bowl, depending on the stall. The green strands in the dessert is called Cendol/Chendol. The brown-coloured sugar used in Cendol/Chendol is called Gula Melaka or Palm Sugar. If you want your drink to be less sweet (less sugar), you can tell the seller 'Kurang Manis'. 'Kurang' means less or reduced in Malay, while 'Manis' means Sweet in Malay. I am not sure about other people, but a medium sized Murtabak can fill up the stomachs of my parents and I. So far, I haven't come across anyone having 1 Murtabak all to themself, the portion is actually good enough for sharing. So far the places that you visited in this video are very touristy in nature, so that's why the items you bought were quite expensive. For delicious and affordable Halal hawker food, try going to Geylang Serai Food Centre, Haig Road Food Centre or Tekka Centre. These hawker centres are excellent options for budget travellers, because the $10 you spent on the Murtabak can get you around 2 to 3 meals at a hawker centre.
So glad u highlighted this. I thot it rather weird the way the cendol was served at that stall. Wot I wud describe as sikit atas type cendol but really I'd rather hv good old cendol served the traditional way - not sluurrp thru a plastic covered cup, eeeeeks. & worse, so misleading to visitors trying it out for 1st time 🙄

Every time I've visited Singapore, I always come here to pray at Masjid Sultan as well as eat in one of the many Halal restaurants. It s easier to get there by MRT - only 2 stops from Marina Bay Sands to Bugis, and the walk from Bugis station to the masjid is 5 to 10 minutes
Bro Myers, your blog is very interesting and educational. It made me rethink about my view Singapore as a Singaporean myself. We now view Singapore from a foreigner/tourist perspective. Thank you and come again.
Thank you for another fantastic video! For even cheaper food, you may want to explore the traditional heartlands such as Toa Payoh or Ang Mo Kio where most people live in HDB flats. Most of the cheap foods in Singapore can be found in the amazing hawker centres and "coffeeshops" where you will find different stalls selling a variety of food. Coffeeshops are usually found in a housing estate below a flat. Hawker centres and markets are found in the town centre. In general, every hawker centre or coffeeshop will feature some halal food. Or you can also explore a newer estate such as Punggol with plenty of amenities and activities but the area will be comparatively more expensive than the traditional heartlands.
@myertravels Tekka Market in the morning has many Indian Muslim foodstalls. Reasonably priced. Naan, briyani u name it. Now it is also decorated with Deepavali or Diwali lightings. So colourful at night. Masjid Sultan is very nice too at night with lightings. You have to go to the biggest 24hrs store name Mustafa Centre. Even rich people shop there to save money.
Thanks to youtube algo that i chanced upon your video. I like your style of vlog where even as myself as a Singaporean, you are showing places i haven't been too. I like that you promote businesses you liked. I keep returning to you're video since Ethiopia video which my home land you're absolutely correct when you talk about our coffee with yemni
The cendol shop you visited features a rare external staircase on the walkway leading to the second floor, the last of its kind in Singapore. Historically, these older shops lacked internal staircases, relying instead on external access. Over time, most shop owners have renovated their premises, adding internal staircases and removing the original outdoor structures. So this is one of the few remaining external staircase in Singapore old shop houses.
Mr. Myer:Thanks you so much for this new amazing video from Singapore city, Singapore to shows these incredible places on the streets in October of 2024❤❤❤
These coffee shops are a little pricey compared to hawker centers mainly due to their location and size. Therefor you're paying almost restaurant prices "almost". Hawker centers are the heart of Singapore culture. You can visit Geylang Serai market where a lot more Muslim foods are offered. Other hawker centers in Singapore usually has halal options even in the heartland in public housing areas due to Singapore's demography. Enjoyed you interactions with the locals we are friendly if you are not shy to approach us haha!
@@myertravels & actually the humbler the food stalls with no fancy "decor", the better & more authentic the fare. I'd rather sit on rickey stools & get the best briani than pay crazy prices at nicely laid out table with the food not even half as good.
27:30 Locals prefer the Zam Zam Restaurant just a few doors away from Tasneem. They have been around since 1908. Their murtabak is priced from $7. You missed the chance to eat at the famous Zam Zam.

Last month i just reported to the authorities to fix the many lamp poles not working leading up to the mosque. We always thought the authorities are efficient but often many lights are not fixed unless someone reports it
Next time you come to Singapore, you should Google 5 star hawker centres/5 star hawker foods. You can get some meals at half/a third of what you were paying and they possibly taste better than what you’d bought as well. Hawker food if often rated on price too! Hope you come back to Singapore soon Myer! :)
Hi Mayer, thanks for visiting Singapore! If you want to eat cheaply - you could have visited heartland hawker centres and coffee shops where you’ll get delicious cooked foods for low cost. The places that you’ve been visiting on your videos are more touristy. For $5-$10, you’ll get a decent meal at the heartlands. Cheers!
Lovely bro mentioned my country Ethiopia to tell him that Yemen is closer to Ethiopia . Queen Shiba 32:47 , we Ethiopians also called this Queen ,Queen Sab. Ethiopian Queen is famous in Singapore proud of that. Keep up ur good work.

next time, try the halal Vietnamese restaurant Eminami at Kandahar Street, amazing food and great people. I ate there regularly when I worked in the area. My lunch I always got from Kampong Glam Cafe with drinks from Bhai Sarbat.
Loving your videos on Singapore so far. I hope you are enjoying your stay here. By the way, may I know what camera are you using? I find the quality is pretty good, especially the audio and I don't see any mic attached on you.
To be honest Singapore is like one of the easiest country to get halal food and Muslim travellers should never worry about it because Singaporean Muslims take their halal certification seriously. You can get real authentic Chinese food, Japanese food, Korean food, Italian food, American food etc. just anywhere islandwide from heartland neighbourhood, everywhere accessible with trains and buses. There's so many local TikTok videos featuring halal certified restaurants to explore too. So if someone ever complained about having to eat non-halal food or starved, that's an excuse 😅
@VoiceSriLanka Generally all malays are muslim But there are malays who have become christian.Muslim in Singapore comprises other races too, including malay, and so the percentage is 15.6%
The current Mjd Sultan building dates back from the 1930s btw. The original building had multi-tiered pyramidical roofs similar to many other old Nusantara mosques here.
Masha'Allah bro, I enjoy seeing the places I missed out on our visit there. Not sure if you're still in Singapore, but if you get a chance check out Changi Beach / Changi Village. It has a very chill vibe and probably the best Nasi Lemak I ever tried.
Actually to really have a budget travel, you would have to eat in a hawker centre. I guess for about 10 Sgd you could get a meal with a drink. Malay indian food tends to be more expensive though.
Why is the world surprised by Singaporean Muslims? Don't they know that Singapore is located in the middle of the Strait of Malacca in the Malay world? In fact, Singapore itself is actually a Malay land. And the name Singapore is taken from the Malay language, singa means lion, pore/pura means temple.Tourists who visit Bali are certainly familiar with the word pura/pure.
Because PAP trying to make the Muslims and Malays extinct in Singapore and glorify only their own kind(chinese). Pretending to be multiracial when they only import in chinese to maintain their 75% so called majority despite having the lowest fertility. Its a cultural and religious erasure by PAP.
Singapore is expensive due to the high rental. Food that costs 2 to 3 dollars now costs 5/6 dollars for a packet of chicken rice in a hawker centre. I also see that you eat at any random store. You have to walk around to check the prices. Just one foodstall does not give the local price.
Yes it’s true Singapore is expensive but there are some deals to be had. I like to explore and try different places but you’re right it’s always good to price check!

Don't think it's the last of its kind, my old office shophouse still has one, and we changed preemises only this year.
@@lonewolf1868 Which area is it?
Mr. Myer:Thanks you so much for this new amazing video from Singapore city, Singapore to shows these incredible places on the streets in October of 2024❤❤❤
the feels and ambiance is very fILIPINO vibes... keep it up bro, you have good style of blogging....
❤❤❤❤thank you for sharing this story with me, and I was born in penang Island 🏝
These coffee shops are a little pricey compared to hawker centers mainly due to their location and size. Therefor you're paying almost restaurant prices "almost". Hawker centers are the heart of Singapore culture. You can visit Geylang Serai market where a lot more Muslim foods are offered. Other hawker centers in Singapore usually has halal options even in the heartland in public housing areas due to Singapore's demography. Enjoyed you interactions with the locals we are friendly if you are not shy to approach us haha!
Thanks for the tips! 😊
@@myertravels & actually the humbler the food stalls with no fancy "decor", the better & more authentic the fare. I'd rather sit on rickey stools & get the best briani than pay crazy prices at nicely laid out table with the food not even half as good.
You can go to Changi beach and their hawker center which provides you nice and cheap food.
27:30 Locals prefer the Zam Zam Restaurant just a few doors away from Tasneem. They have been around since 1908. Their murtabak is priced from $7. You missed the chance to eat at the famous Zam Zam.
No longer $7 bro.
@@25MUGEN Chicken is from $7 onwards. Used to be $6, $10. Now smallest is $7, medium $11, $15 upto $20.
Yeah. I was screaming when he stopped to eat murtabak just a few doors away from Zam Zam! 😂😂
Can have Zam Zam water too. $10 is way expensive for murtabak. Just flour, egg and little bit of chicken or beef.
Subahanallah.....the greetIng of salaam....Allah hu Akbar...
we muslims r bonded by faith.....by the syahadah😢
frm a Malaysian sister in syahadah😊
Malaysia is a joke even wanted to patent the allah word which itself using English alphabet....LOL.
Assalamualaikum Myer, you have missed Teaattarik beside the Sultan Mosque. The teh zaffran (iced saffron tea) is superb and is really cheap too. Great video, welcome to Singapore ❤
Thank you! I’ll have to try that next time! 😊
Mr. Myer:I really LOVE to watches your amazing videos from Southeast Asia this Month of October 2024❤❤❤Thanks you so much for your great videos in great joy 2024❤❤❤

While i take these sights for granted (frequenting them as a local), it makes me appreciate what a muslim traveller wld need.
If you're in JB, and need recommendations on where to go, give us a shout. Happy to meet up and share what i can. Am also orig Pak 🙌🏽 hehe.
Can't believe u didn't walk down Jln Pisang (Pisang is Malay for banana) and try the famed Hajjah Maimuna restaurant which has a spread of local Malay food. Huge variety.
U also walked past Sabar Menanti - also nice local food. But then there's a dime and dozen awesome places for foodies to check out ;) gotta come again huh ☺️ - farheen ✌🏽🍃
Very pleasant to watch .. Ma shaa Allah keep it up…

Thanks you so much for your new remarkable video today’s from Singapore City, Singapore to shows these amazing places on the streets in Southeast Asia October of 2024❤❤❤
Nice video! For food you should try heartland hawker Centers is way cheaper
Appreciate the recommendation!
Thanks for your awesome travel vlog around Singapore and also sharing Holafly! V useful to know! 👍👍👍👍👍
I’m glad you found it helpful! 😊
Another muslim area is joo chiat complex haig Rd hawker centre geylang serai market.
Geylang joo chiat is was known as Malay area . Geylang means press, mill or factory aka kilang.
Great to see you blending in Meyer
Appreciate it!
waiting 🙌
Very nice Kampong Glam. 👍🏻👍🏻
🇪🇹
In Islam we know her as Balqis. But her kingdom was called Saba'. Not surprising that it rhymes with Sab in your language and Sheba in English/Latin.
11:26 maker in english bro hahaha. Basically is maker of cendol (the drink). Love your vids, welcome to SG!
Haha good catch! I’m still getting used to the local slang.
Ikr..😂 I literally burst into laughter when he mispronounced it. It's literally in English! 😂😂 I guess bro's overthinking got the better of him.

I believe you have Enjoyed SG so Far. Many More to EXPLORE..
Alhamdulillah 🤲🤲🤲
Waalaikumsalam thank you!
Likely, the lychee drink & Mutabak in your case is considered 'restaurant' price. You try another location / hawker.. to make some comparison.
Nice video, something different from other vlogs. 🎉
I appreciate you saying that!
You got one more subscriber, me 😊. Love your vlog.
Thank you so much for subscribing! 🙏
Welcome to Singapore Myer!!
Appreciate your honest opinions on travel costs. give us a better clearer idea how much travel budget of each country.
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll keep that in mind for future videos. 😊
next time, try the halal Vietnamese restaurant Eminami at Kandahar Street, amazing food and great people. I ate there regularly when I worked in the area. My lunch I always got from Kampong Glam Cafe with drinks from Bhai Sarbat.
Nice insight into Singapore! I like your watch brother which one is it?
I live nearby Kampong Glam and I've never been to Saba. Thanks ma man.
It's a must-visit!
Muslim is 15.6%, and Malay is 13.5%.
Like in UK also , not all malays , Pakistani are islam . They murtad and convert to christian
Lol
@@boykhan22 Funny?
@@kamariahabdrahim6963Malays are not Muslims?
@VoiceSriLanka Generally all malays are muslim But there are malays who have become christian.Muslim in Singapore comprises other races too, including malay, and so the percentage is 15.6%
The current Mjd Sultan building dates back from the 1930s btw. The original building had multi-tiered pyramidical roofs similar to many other old Nusantara mosques here.
InsyaAllah, from 100k , You will Grow Big. Always be thankful 🤲to Allah SWT..
love your video!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
Masha'Allah bro, I enjoy seeing the places I missed out on our visit there. Not sure if you're still in Singapore, but if you get a chance check out Changi Beach / Changi Village. It has a very chill vibe and probably the best Nasi Lemak I ever tried.
I'll add it to the list!
Oh my.. you didn't just say our nasi lemak is better than Malaysia's?? You might have just started a war between us and Malaysians, bro. 😂😂
@@s_shaleh 😂😂😂 in my defense, I haven’t been to Malaysia yet, so I can’t say which one is better. One day I’ll visit Malaysia, God willing
Actually to really have a budget travel, you would have to eat in a hawker centre. I guess for about 10 Sgd you could get a meal with a drink. Malay indian food tends to be more expensive though.
He is a Muslim so he needs to eat only Halal food. Majority chinese food is non halal, thats why they are cheap
May i suggest you go to geylang serai. More halal options!
Great suggestion! Video coming soon
Singh is Hindi and in many other Indian languages means lion.
Lion in Tamil is Singa
Singapore is expensive due to the high rental. Food that costs 2 to 3 dollars now costs 5/6 dollars for a packet of chicken rice in a hawker centre. I also see that you eat at any random store. You have to walk around to check the prices. Just one foodstall does not give the local price.
Yes it’s true Singapore is expensive but there are some deals to be had. I like to explore and try different places but you’re right it’s always good to price check!
Nice vlog❤
what camera u use bro ?
U should go to the hawker centre.. neighborhood area..more cheaper food & a lot of choice..!! 😅
nice content!
Singapore and Malaysia exude a harmonious atmosphere due to their similar ethnic compositions of Malays, Chinese, and Indians.
Hi Myer
