    Just went through this with my 15 Silverado, the dreaded P0449 code. Also, on my dash it was telling me to tighten gas cap. First thing I did was tighten gas cap, cleared the code and rechecked. 0449 code is back. Inspected hoses at filler neck. Sure enough a critter chewed on the plastic vent filter hose. Replaced that, cleared code and rescanned, code is back. Checked the EVAP solenoid and a wire had corroded not allowing current to the solenoid. Ordered a EVAP solenoid with wiring harness from Amazon for $30 would have been $70 from auto parts store, my solenoid was probably good, but since I'm into it best to just install a new one. Installed new solenoid / harness and again cleared the code. Fingers crossed, and rescanned. NO CODES. Hope this helps someone having the same issue.

    Best video yet ...been clicking for 2 hours ... none have included the breather filter off to the side either. When i looked on Amazon for parts and seen that ..i was like ugh wtf is that now? And bam your video told me. 👍

    I enjoyed your video and was all set to tackle the job in my 04 Silverado with 4.3 V6, but unfortunately it was a different animal altogether. I had to search for the valve and it was to the outside of the frame rail on the V6 and you could just about get one hand up in there. The hose came off easy as it has a clip on the V6. Hardly any room to work on this version, and found a little help by removing the hold down bracket first. Again, thanks for your post, and hope this helps anyone working on a V6., have not found any V6 specific info on line.

      Hi, how did the truck act to determine you needed a new solenoid. I'm getting a heavy gas odor by the back door and it acts like it doesn't want to take fuel from the pump

    • @ryoga8170
      @ryoga8170 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@spikecamden9860I don't have the gas odor but I definitely have the slow fill at the pump issue. It'll take $1 worth and then back up amd click off and it'll do that several times before I can do a full, uninterrupted filling....

    The one I'm working on looks nothing like this, there's no hoses like that either, but the plug looks the same, I'm concerned. It also came with some sort of vent filter that is separate, that has a hose similar to yours. Could I be taking out something different?... *Edit, I have a breather just like yours, but still concerned about the solenoid canister

      Its the preferred location. If you mount it towards the back, It will pick up more dirt than if mounted forward up by the trans under the cab. Hope this helps

    That long hose going from the small canister to the small box filter , can I zip tie that to the filler neck of the gas tank so I can access it easier ? When the transmission shop rebuilt my trans they zip tied it to the very top of my transmission I can barely reach it. And does it have to be a exact length ? I'm thinking of cutting the old one off and running a new piece of 5/8 heater hose. Thank you for your time.

    • @WrenchingWithKenny
      @WrenchingWithKenny  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That was part of an update that GM came out with . That spot on top of the trans tends to be the driest . I wouldn't see any reason you couldn't do what you're saying . And that hose length can be whatever . It doesn't matter.
      Thanks for watching !!

    When you do a smoke test and the smoke comes out from the filter side that goes on top of the transmission does that mean that the canisters is no good

      Sounds like the hose to the gas tank is crimped bent just enough to allow the gas through. Kenny did a video talking about this already.

    HOW DO YOU TAKE THE CONNECTOR OFF

    • @WrenchingWithKenny
      @WrenchingWithKenny  ปีที่แล้ว

      The tube connecter gets pinched on the end to collapse it and release it . Try to get in there with compressed air and some WD40 . Sometimes you have to get inside the end with two 90 degree pics or small screwdrivers to pry the locking edges up
