This is my favorite ballad from Larry Boone. Peaked only at #57 on the Billboard country singles chart on 3-30-1991 and #40 for one week on Billboard's National sample playlist chart ( pre-1990 BDS method) on 4-13-1991. This gem should have been a #1 for Larry Boone.
So cool of you to say that the way you did. When this was new do was fronting a band, still in High School and working on the side with a band on the Great Navajo Nation with some "wild Indians." Learned more from those boys about real, genuine country and outlaw music than I could have learned anywhere else. We played several songs off of this album, tons of old Waylon, Gary Stewart, ETC and all the greats. As Frank Sinatra said in the Rat Pack, " I miss my guys.."
I agree, love Genes version as well but this is the one that pulled me through some times that I wouldn't wish upon anyone. So grateful for this power ful music.
I Have this one too and also love it. This masterpiece, "To Be With You", "Where My Heart Aches To Be", "It Wouldn't Kill Me", and the title track "One Way To Go Are My Favorites." All ten tracks from the album are my favorites. Too bad none of them were #1 country hits, including this gem.
What ever happened to Larry Boone? Is he still with us or has he passed on because if this song was released today it would be #1 bound with a bullet. If anyone has any in please post it!!!
A truly forgotten Country Classic

Another fine example that the 90's produced the best country music ever recorded unlike todays mainstream crap out of TRASHVILLE!!!
