In a pediatric malpractice case where the child is severely neurologically disabled will they make us bring her into the courtroom? It would take nurse staffing.
Also if the defendants lost summary judgment would improve the chances of successfully mediating the case prior to taking the risk of trial and potentially years of appeals.

No one is going to make you do it. Your attorney may have a strategic reason for bringing the child in for a very brief period of time.
