So proud of my hometown ! And unfortunately I still have to live in UD. Sadly my son was bullied in elementary school back in 2020 , so when schools shut down for Covid we knew some things had to be decided on for the fall. Middle school was approaching and there was no way I’d send him to BHMS or UDHS(don’t need to hear from those who, love the district, that is great if you had good experience, I’m only speaking on my family’s experience) . Made the decision for cyber school and so glad we did. Not saying there aren’t good people in the district, of course there are. But my other child also went through a lot in the district and they did absolutely nothing for her. It was a nightmare. And then after what went down with my son, I have a bad taste in my mouth for UDSD . BUT I’m not trying to attack the district or say these things don’t happen all over, when I know they do. ..I know there are still great kids and staff, but I’m tired of seeing this happening more often than not. How long until it’s something worse ? How many times over the past few years has it been on the news? Heck, when my son was in the elementary school, they had to be on lockdown. A second grader never should have known what a lockdown is or have practice lockdown drills. obviously they’re necessary now, but I’m just saying that figuratively speaking a child should not have to think of these things. And as parents we should not have to worry about the safety of our children while they’re at school . Sorry for the rant/ ramble. Just fed up with the district. Fed up with UD. Fed up with paying taxes for a place that doesn’t do anything for us. To those who say to move if I don’t like it, I wish it was that simple. I just hate what has become of the place I used to be so proud to call home. But it’s no longer that great place I grew up.
"All school protocols were followed"...NOT if the student GOT INTO THE SCHOOL with a gun and drugs.
