  • What is Dataset connectivity with the XMLA endpoint in Power BI? | PL-300 Tutorials Ep 13| Power BI
Power BI Premium workspaces and datasets at the 1500 and higher compatibility level support open-platform connectivity from Microsoft and third-party client applications and tools by using an XMLA endpoint.
In this video, I have explained XMLA Endpoint connectivity in Power BI, what is it, how to optimize it, and how to connect with SSMS.

Very well explained! I was trying to understand XML end points using different available articles but your demo made my concepts on xml very clear. Thank you very much!

Interesting thanks. Now what kind of updates/modifications,... can we do using the endpoint now? What kind of interesting use cases are there

This depends on your use case. For example, you can create measures, calculation groups using Tabular Editor, you can delete a dataset or you can insert some records. Even people use XMLA end points to insert or delete rows into the datasets using their onw applications.

Thank you for your efforts, I have a question for you, if you do a change into the dataset using XLMA end point, we won't be able to download it, is there a way to solve this issue, any thoughts?
      Thank you in advance

I'm having the following error message when connection to the Analysis Services server:
The integrated security 'ClaimsToken' is not supported for native connections. (Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AppLocal.AdomdClient)

Pls reply, What is the use of this XMLA end point.

I have already replied… XMLA connection can be used to connect with third party tools such as DAX Studio, SSMS or tabular editor. Also apps such as ALM toolkit to perform activities such as deployment on Power BI Service

How do I setup gatway connection to schdule refresh for XMLA ,

    • @BIConsultingPro

You just need to install Power BI Standard Data Gateway on a Server or Machine that is available online 24X7 or at least on at the time of Data Refresh.
Also, XMLA refresh can be achieved via SQL Server Jobs or you can do it manually via SSMS

Hi Dear, thanks for this valuable and useful information, I have a question: is there a way to allow the users who are shared with them the dashboard to change some table figures, as I need them to update the projections by the monthly base for instance. then When they update the figures, it's automatically reflected in the datasets....I hope I can deliver my point to you

    • @BIConsultingPro

Yes, You can but for that first, you need to create either your own app or a Power App. Once you have this, you can perform read/write operations.

Hi, we are facing a typical issue where we are trying to convert SSRS reports of 2012 version which use semantic model, to Power BI, so these SSRS reports use Semantic Query to connect to the database but they are not supported in Power BI. Any idea how can we convert these semantic queries from XML to SQL Query or MDX

    • @BIConsultingPro
      @BIConsultingPro  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Are these Semantic Queries in SQL or XML?
