I can confirm as an Australian, we do say "thanks" at the end of requests and some greetings. One example is "G'day, howzitgoin'?" to which the other person replies "Not bad, thanks."

I'm no scholar, but I think J *was* one of the last letters to arrive in the Latin alphabet. Remember that scene in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade where he almost dies because he forgets Jehovah was spelled with an i? The letter J just didn't exist in that era. Julius Caesar's name would most likely have been spelled 'Iulius'.
Romans also didn't have the letter U for the longest time - they used V instead. Hence the band CHVRCHES.
Correct. "J" and "U" were added last to the Latin Alphabet. Before this, V's were pronounced as U's or just not pronounced at all, (if they were at the beginning or end of a word, i.e - deus vult), and J's were pronounced as Y's, like in "yes" or "yeet" (some of the time), the rest of the time they would've been pronounced as a J, like in the name Julius.
Julius Caesar's full name was Gaius Julius Caesar, which, at the time, would have been written as, "GAIVS IVLIVS CAESAR". It would've been pronounced exactly as we would pronounce it verbally, but it would've been written drastically different, because the letters that we would've used to write it wouldn't have been invented yet.

KFC's Canada site for months had been hijacked and when you clicked on the to go to your cart/order would open a spoof site, that looked identical to the real one. This went on for over 6 months after showing a local manager this and emailing the company. I wonder how many ppl had their info stolen over that time.
I feel bad for people who fall for scams.

Bill Birsay I like Barb too. She seems like an awesome person and she's hilarious. But her nasally voice is so grating, especially compared to Ellie, who has the voice of an angel.
And yeah, that's my position on Branden as well. No one can be that stupid. It has to be an act, and it's more annoying than it is funny.
Bill Birsay Maybe it's just that he isn't good at articulating himself? Like, he knows what his point is, but he doesn't know how to convey it in a way that makes sense in verbal conversation. He HAS to be a smart guy. Rooster Teeth doesn't really hire idiots. Most, if not all of them, have college degrees from a really reputable school.

I never learned that holding a finger up was considered rude
I was taught that the hand was more rude
The hand implies stop and the finger implies one sec or one minute, which the people usually whisper. The hand is way more rude to me.

Ellie is just wonderful. I was lucky enough to meet her in Toronto at Fan Expo and she is just as lovely in person. So friendly and personable

Gus is slightly wrong the total debt of the UK is around 1.4 Trillion and of that around 2.5 billion is from the south sea bubble. It's still crazy to think that a financial failure from 300 years ago is still being paid off today.

This might be a regional thing. I'm from the South (USA), and in my experience, the "one finger" method gets an ass whippin'. Never really thought about it until right now, but I myself have had my ass beaten for absent-mindedly forgetting to politely use my full hand to ask someone to wait a moment. I don't know why we're like this, or where that comes from, but it's definitely a thing at least for some of us. Never realised there were people that would tolerate having a finger shoved in their face-- But I also can't really identify why I find it so deeply offensive. Huh! This is like the standing to pee vs. sitting to pee thing all over again.

effluviah idk I feel putting one finger beside your own face signifies “hold on a second” as opposed to putting a finger up to their face to say “shut up for a moment”. Like you said maybe it’s a regional thing.
It also depends soooo much on the face made. Can be extremely apologetic, just saying one moment politely, or the rudest thing
The finger definitely seems more douchey. I think its because most people associate the finger as "Be quiet" but like to a child. So its like calling them a baby and being "too important" while doing it.
The nhs does still use leeches. It is for flaps(when the move a bit for flesh/skin to cover a wound) to get the blood circulation working again. I seen it on a nursing placement it was pretty cool. Xx

Nothing makes me more happy as an Englishmen then seeing Americans and British people talking together and getting confused by small things like "uni" curry chips and just hearing everyday things in different ways, plus I LOVE Gavin and Ellie
