  • Hello People of the Earth!
Thanks for joining me for more guitar restoration videos! This 1961 Gibson ES-125TCD was a real treat to work on. It was made in Kalamazoo Michigan.
    Cheers,

It's cool to see you do these a year apart and how much more confidence and experience you have from the first to the second one. Great work all around. Thanks for sharing it with us!

The entire body of the guitars made out of plywood, I don't know why that surprises you?

Love that you used the word "cure". 👂👍

Hi Scotty, i saw a video of Mike McConville the other day where he said he was going to send that GPS workstation to you, it looks like you've received it. Nice job on this neck reset once again, still under 1K subscribers, i don't understand that, you deserve way more. Cheers.

That steam tool is pretty sweet. I got an ES125 on the way. Hoping I don't need a neck reset. Seller says it's a solid guitar though, fingers crossed. Can't wait to get it though, wanted one for some time.

Are you going to attempt the neck reset if it needs one? Good luck!

That was great, lovely work, but the steaming part was terrifying.

I like those guitars... especially the TDC. Have you ever seen Ted Woodford here on TH-cam. He uses foam cutters for neck removals and avoids all the steam and danger. I see you're responsible about getting it out of there quickly, but it's essentially the same process with tools that are familiar in shape. Pretty slick.

Yes Steven, Ted is one of our IanHatesGuitars gang members and I feature both of their channels here on my channel. Great channels! I have 4 foam cutters. Steam can be 10X quicker on this sort of neck joint but I did use the foam cutters on the last ES-125TC and they worked fine. It just took forever 😅 My most recent video on the ES-125T is in this link: Gibson ES-125T Restoration (1959)

Cabinet grade plywood is hardwood sheets glued together and is in the area of 2-300% more stable than a single block of say mahogany.

Now I don't feel so sad I missed that nice 1966 model. Plywood block for the neck pocket? That's a cheap design.

Disappointed by the presence of plywood. Come on.
