I just subbed to your channel, referred by Joe Pie. I’m a steam turbine/ generator mechanic by trade. I’m forever in awe by the power of steam and find the old Industrial Revolution stuff fascinating and beautiful. If I’m not mistaken, Fred Dibnah had restored a huge old steam roller which paraded through his town for his funeral. I’m not sure where you hail from, but the accent suggests you may be familiar with Fred (rest in peace). I’m just beginning to watch your videos and look forward to more creativity and craftsmanship.
A little tip-off from Keith Appleton sent me here and I am very pleased to have found this channel. This really is a lovely engine. Merry Christmas to you both, or frohe Weihnachten from Germany! Cheers 🥂
Beautifully made! One to be proud of. Personally, I'd add a couple of shim washers under the drain cocks to bring them upright, but that's just me liking things upright! Looking forward to your videos in the new year!
@@modelengineeringadventuresI doubt it’ll be anytime soon, I’m pretty clueless with lathes and machines like that 😂, I’ve started watching more of Keith’s lathe videos though so I’m slowly learning
Hi Andrew, i know Keith i send a comment first merry Christmas to you and your family from me Daniel in Canada. i wanted to make a suggestion, perhaps a modified Airplane engine , by designing one with a cam a and rocker valve installation instead of a reed valve, a mini cam is easier then a reed valve further because of the tollerences required for gas type engines a cnc maybe the requiired application. Steam engines are more forgiving then gas engine builds. I am my self buying a new lathe as my old one was damaged due to someone toying with it , which i could not repair. iam going to buy two lathes one very soon and a second the first is like keiths warco, but its a 8 by 24 the second a 10 by 22 offered by king canada, next a bigger replacement for my current mini milling machine which good for a bottom line one with a 350 watt motor but it has a three inch wide deck not suited for the required 4 inch milling vise and my cheepo four inch rotary table allthough they can be fitted but with a loss of travel. Like keith i am not a fan of these DRO's i guess like keith i am old simple school to some extent. I will though stating this instead mount three cheap vernier calipers to my new lathes one for the tail one for the saddle and one for the cross slide i feel a simpler method and each can be read individually one more for the vertical end of my mini mill which has a huge amout of slop in the fine feed dial. I had a laugh when keith offered you an exacto and a wood mallet to put your gas attempt to rest, i think a preist should be called in before the gas engine burial? keith could make the funeral arrangements for the engine buriel, he is quite funny his humer fantastic. he is a model engineer not a musician decades of experience i trully thank keith for all he has taught me using simple common sense formula's that do not require rocket scientist degree's as some other builders on youtube like to present us with teacher chalk boards like that guy Joe Pie he likes to use rocker math that no one but him can understand. Blondie hacks she's also good but with very complicated set ups at time that are overly complicated where as Keith uses a piece of hardwood in his mill vise to place parts on then mills them, model builders are always critisizing keith for what they beleave are un orthodox methods not accepted by the college of Nasa no it alls. I remember when keith first introduced the bench belt sander to sand down metal parts i thought great idea i am buying one, but people started sending him comments i guess stating the bench belt sanders had no place in the home machinest work shop. i always worry something will happen to keith then they will start removing his video's that would be utter destruction of the greatest model steam engine teacher on the planet for beginners. Several known home machinests have copied alot of keiths pointers he is well respected and loved by many. i got very concerned about his biopsy thing i hope he is ok medically. I will start Andrew watching your channel also and keith both. Must go best of luck on your projects and merry christmas happy new year to you and your family. Daniel from Canada:

Thank you Daniel. I am fortunate to live near Keith and call him a friend. As long as we enjoy our hobby that's all that matters.
