This is very good. I just quit my job in the US from the stressful politics, and watching this project makes me feel very relaxed and adds fuel to my desire to start a new life.

Don't wait too long. As soon as you are sure you have the funds do it.

I did it backwards, I built in Thailand at 37 Im 40 now its nearly done but its a pool villa. My theory was get it done early so no hassle later in life. I’ve got assets inc house in my home land but building so young and I didn’t go cheep wasn’t easy. So now I save on holiday costs and when I come to retire I’ve got lots of options.
Few highlights, all double glazed, 1600m of land 500m of living space, pool 5x15m infinity edge, build fully to European regulations.

Every time I see the new building around I wonder why people don't have the ventilated windows , it helps cooling the place down tremendously. I noticed since I was younger, the old houses that was built always have windows near the ceiling to let the heat out. Nowaday, I think the builders probably think it's unnecessary because of air-condition. Some people use wind turbine, exhausted fan, those help too. All in all, I still think that vented windows are better of.

Vented soffits and ridge vents always worked well in the US. I am considering an fan system in mine.
