Airhead here. It´s nice to see that the whole procedure didn´t change massively over the course of 37 years xD. The "dropping" method only works properly though if the threads are in order. Some folks think it´s necessary to apply force until the water is squeezed out of the screw :D Thx for the video. Cheers!
Metric vice grips 😁. Guess I better sell all my old Harley SAE set! Wish I could ride with you and add some rocks to my coil covers but I am probably half a world away.
@@GreaseAndGravel The DOHC engines are bucket and shim style aren't they? Not the lock nut type seen here. In which case it's a very different method to adjust the clearance.
@@GreaseAndGravel Tell me about it, I hate the shims .. though I guess you have longer intervals between adjustments with the shims so swings and roundabouts.
The manual says to inspect and adjust every 20000km. Mine was a bit tight on two valves, but also ran well before. I'd just do it if I were you. It really is a very simply job. Similar to an old classic car. Shout if you have any questions@@lufunodreadierambuda5800

Great job very well explained and without special tools thank you for not over complicating it.
Thanks, I appreciate the feedback!

Thanks for the comment, Phil. yeah, that would have been awesome. There's an adjustment kit you get to convert the metric vice grips to imperial ;)
Surprised you’re putting parts on concrete floor.
Is it the same procedure for my 2010 GS engine?
Yes, 2002-2012 is the same:
Inlet 0.15mm (SOHC Models)
Exhaust 0.30mm (SOHC Models)
Inlet 0.13mm > 0.23mm (DOHC Models)
Exhaust 0.30mm > 0.40mm (DOHC Models)
Yours will be DOHC

@@edwards0matic Mmm... I am actually not sure. If that's the case, it is a pity. The lock nut type is so much quicker and easier.

Jy's baie snaaks 😂😂
Dankie
Haha dankie Billy🤣 Ek dink dis net jy wat so dink😅
My 2008 GS clock 90k, do you think is time for valves clearance, or there's any symptoms if the are out. But engine idle very smooth.

Yes, you can definitely do it yourself@@lufunodreadierambuda5800
Is this guy insane?
Thank you Robert, at last someone noticed!
Not every top dead Ctr is the right one. You did not say that. You have to test all valves.
NIce ratchet.
Homemade tools are the cheapest ;)
Unusual tool choices! Is this a joke? The knowledge isn’t. The tool choice is comical.
It’s clearly a joke I just don’t know why 😂
