They are applauding Calco performing a shell jump. Sten also attempts a shell jump but misses it. This allows Calco to stay on dry land while Sten has to swim a bit.

Maybe an ignorant question, but why are the colour pallets so different for each player?
Different video outputs or console revisions. The SNES could output several different video signals through it's multi-out port, depending on which cable you used. Bottom right looks like RF, bottom left looks like s-video, and the top two both look like composite, with top right probably coming from a 1-chip SNES.

i love grandpoobear such a good streamer, humble and always talks to his chat.... can't stand the streamers that just play and ignore the chat...
The interview about this race where the four runners talk about how challenging it is to hold right + run, and how the complex speedrun tech also included sometimes holding left instead, or levels that go up, and even some that go down... it was a bit awkward at times, but still funny. Now I get to see this "amazing" game getting... played pretty much normally I guess?

Well, all speedruns look like normal play, the different is doing frame perfect inputs and tricks that speed up the gameplay or character, stuff that we can't notice as viewers

why are they playing the japanese version? Is it faster to run or something like it?
Surprised no one answered your question yet... Yes. Its faster because Japanese text takes up less space to say the same thing compared to languages that use the latin alphabet like English. This happens in a lot of games, causing the Japanese version to be preferred. There may also be other reasons that I'm not sure of, such as being able to eat the dolphins.

Man, all the smw speedruns are the same? i mean, there is some speedrun in agdq that doesnt involved skips? i know a route to complete the game in like 30 minutes with a lot of skips, but in my opinion, the point of doing a speedrun of this game, its to pass most of the main route

Im not sure you know what a speedrun is. It can be done in any way that is "speedy." They have different categories which imply whether a game is sped through normally or with glitches. Usually, the implications are that glitches are allowed UNLESS it's classified as a glitchless/skipless run

The category is "No cape, no Star World." Anyone can beat the game in under 30 using Star World, but this category specifically disallows it.

TheWaynelds Starless here means no star road, not no star powerup.
The category is called "No cape, No starworld". They can use stars.
