I love having Panga on the couch for these runs. Whenever I played games like this, I wanted to ask the developer WHYYYYYY. And here, they can actually do that, and he replies in snarky and sarcastic ways. Glorious.
"Killing" the Yoshis at 29:35 was actually saving them from being trapped for eternity, and we dont even know if they fall to their deaths or to freedom. But being stuck there would have been certain death.
I'm a little disappointed during this run that at his 10th death the people didn't start chanting "Ten" a few times. For those unaware it's a wrestling reference that I'm sure grandPOObear would have enjoyed.
Eh, I think it's always a mixed bag by the nature of it being a bunch of different runners and games. I don't know if any year is much better than others, but more that certain runs are better than others.
Damn, Carl's doctor salary is coming in. But instead of donating $1000, he should just donate _himself,_ because Carl *_IS_* the cure to cancer! Or was it Salty Sagan's Spaghetti Sauce?
I understand how this Game exists. I have no idea why it exists. I would have thought, for sure, Mario Maker would have been the death of Rom hacks o.0. Great Run Poo. Keep being a runner for the people; by the people.
ROM hacks > Mario Maker... much more freedom and creativity with a ROM hack. I love them both though. Either way, it actually seemed to kickstart the ROM hack community a little, bringing more people into it.
The most sad thing about Mario Maker is the eventuality that servers will go down and all levels will be lost forever. They will just be TH-cam videos at some point. That's one reason I love ROM hacks, they will be playable 100 years from now.
TASbot has total control of the game. After he does the mole portion, he can spawn anything he wants. He could have programmed in flappy bird. Its really crazy what you can do with SMW
masterjun has an article commenting on what he did, but basically he changed the credits by rewriting them real-time once they spawned, as they were still offscreen.
With TAS, you can start a series of glitches that end with you being able to rewrite the game's code using all four multitabbed controllers. The part after Luigi appearing was just a nicely crafted slideshow.
Depends. Some people get into it through events like this or RPG Limit Break; some naturally get into speedrunning their favorite games, some find sites like speedrun.com. If you're talking about getting into GDQ itself, registrations for potential games/runners/volunteers start up a few months beforehand.
Psh, not collecting all 900 korok seeds. I did. Only took... like a week of comparing my map to an online one and trying to figure out which ones I'm missing. Which is a lot harder than it sounds, since the location you start getting a lot of koroks is nowhere near where they're marked on the map...
yeah these hack runs are cool because its new levels you havent seen. Most games its just everyone has seen them so many times. This is new, and you can make new levels to keep them different.
It's a ROM hack of Super Mario World based on some levels that PangaeaPanga also did on Mario Maker. They use a flash cart to play the hack on a real SNES, though. ROM Hacks are basically modifications to the coding of a game that override portions of the original in order to do all kinds of things like simple cheats, translations to other languages, new levels, new content, just about anything really.
Go take a look at Lunar Magic if you are interested in making these, it's an editor for Super Mario World ROMs. It's SUPER easy to start making a SMW ROM Hack and the community for it is huge. It's one of, if not the biggest, ROM hacking communities dating back 15+ years and is so popular it is the reason Mario Maker exists.
Hey, Thanks GDQ and I hope everyone enjoyed the run! That TAS segment blew my mind!
Best run of the entire event.
Grand POOBear Poo! I love your videos.
I've been subscribed for at least a year and watch every minute of your content.
What a run. In the words of Lockwood "Clutch-ness". GJ
the most entertraining run ;D
why are you talking like that?
I love when Poo does a run, the hype is off the charts I love it
I love having Panga on the couch for these runs.
Indeed, all we know about their fate is that they suffered heart attacks as soon as the ground suddenly collapsed from beneath them.
Oh they died
Death is certain for them either way.
Poor yoshis
21:45 - grandPOObear
1:26:35 - TASBOT run

How does he get so good at so many games? Something's fishy...

He's the people's champion for a good reason.
33:07 One of the most HYPE levels. You can here the crowd ramping up toward the end!
This is one of those runs where you don't want to even blink. Congrats to the crew and the cool crowd.
Commenting here for Grand POOBears' run and the TASbot segment afterwards... Awesome accomplishments! One of my favorites of this GDQ!
Awesome run, Poo. I was stoked once I saw you were running this and had to watch it immediately.
one of the best runs of 2018, Good runner
20:03 for the start of commentary
1:25:35 for the start of the TASBot commentary
1:15:22 BrownMan (Ray Narvaez Jr. Currently a streamer that formally to work for Achievement Hunter) donated $5000.

The Man. The Myth. The Poo.
DRAM 2 v1.3 patch notes:
- Removed Cape from Green Palace.
GPB's laugh is the best laugh of all time. Its so contagious! makes you want to laugh too.
Poo is the best streamer in this entire event!!!
1:11:11
"This day's a big day for Poo"
But is it the biggest night of his career?
Poo's trying to single handedly take us to two million.
20:04 Cut to game
21:48 Run starts
I'm a little disappointed during this run that at his 10th death the people didn't start chanting "Ten" a few times. For those unaware it's a wrestling reference that I'm sure grandPOObear would have enjoyed.
For a speedrun event these videos sure take a long time to get started.
How can you even talk while playing this haha
That ACE exhibition at the end, though
Wow, just wow
Also, 21:45
Poo's giggling is adorable!
Oh my God I know, how could you resist laughing along with him?
The regular run was beyond impressive. But man, that TAS was way better than the Monkey Ball one.
So now we just need Dram running Mitch World and were all good
This run was hype af. One of the gems this year in a very mediocre marathon overall imo.
Eh, I think it's always a mixed bag by the nature of it being a bunch of different runners and games. I don't know if any year is much better than others, but more that certain runs are better than others.
The flow from the get was outstanding! Fantastic run and even better cause! Happy Holidays! *(:-D>
Run has come a long way from the day 1 deaths lol
These games make the Souls series look fair and balanced.
Loads of energy and fun, best run I’ve seen so far.
Poo's reaction on this TAS is priceless
Avogadro’s constant... that’s clever
1:29:15 *THINGS ARE ABOUT TO GET REALLY STRANGE*
dat mind fuck TAS run
Damn, Carl's doctor salary is coming in. But instead of donating $1000, he should just donate _himself,_ because Carl *_IS_* the cure to cancer! Or was it Salty Sagan's Spaghetti Sauce?
rather his twitch money
God damn I love the prizes segments. Haha.
SUPERKICK PARTYYYYYY
Best run of the week
Finally seem Linkdead's face.
You're cool, man!
39:47 IF I GO DOWN, IM TAKING YOU WITH ME!
I hate people killing yoshi‘s tho
I guess you could say that was some...
TRICERATOP-NOTCH GAMEPLAY
I'm not sorry
It was a great pun during Dram 1, and it still is now
anyone know why Carl wasn't there?
Mr.Carlozan he also posted a video yesterday
Mr.Carlozan Must've, no idea they had computers in the afterlife.
Peter Klint He dident wanted to He enjoyed it at Home (He said it in one of his Vids)
jokes apart, pretty much 'cause working.
He's not very....cape-able.
ba dum pshhhh!
Deaths 2018 WUT HOW... TAS runs are insane
Wow! Loved it!
when they said Tasbot Breaks super dram world they were not joking xD
GOSH i love you Grad POOBEAR
"doin the lords work" haha and that one guy sounds like kip from napoleon dynamite
Can someone help me find the 5 appearences of tas bot? I cant understand what he is saying :D I watched the super monkey ball and this one
I only understand "3 at the end of few des"
This is so stressful to watch.
I don't get how the end credits were changed. Did the other three controlers code them during the run of the 1st one?
I understand how this Game exists. I have no idea why it exists. I would have thought, for sure, Mario Maker would have been the death of Rom hacks o.0. Great Run Poo. Keep being a runner for the people; by the people.
ROM hacks > Mario Maker... much more freedom and creativity with a ROM hack. I love them both though.
Either way, it actually seemed to kickstart the ROM hack community a little, bringing more people into it.
0 online DRM, No server reliance.
Will outlast mario maker.
The most sad thing about Mario Maker is the eventuality that servers will go down and all levels will be lost forever. They will just be TH-cam videos at some point.
That's one reason I love ROM hacks, they will be playable 100 years from now.
At first glance, that dude in the thumbnail looked like Gilfoyle from Silicon Valley.
OMG! This is ridiculous! This is platforming at its finest.
No love for Ryukahr? Doesn't he hold the 2nd place record?
He does in Any%, but since it was a 100% run, Poo only talked about the 100% leaderboard, which is just Panga and him.
Why does the midway point trigger becoming a larger Mario in TASbot, but not during Poobears run?
TASbot has total control of the game. After he does the mole portion, he can spawn anything he wants. He could have programmed in flappy bird. Its really crazy what you can do with SMW
It does make it look like there are differences between the ROMs though
Too sweet!
Didn't show the text box in Bridge of Poly
No ovaries.
1:30:13 Mario has cappy, but he's in the wrong game.
wow I can't believe you would say the B word
Poobear
BLUEGLASS IS LOVE!!!
A gap in your bridge? Pfft, just get over it.
1:13:46 Commander Keen cosplay?
What is that Zelda looking book in the thumbnail of this video?
What is Phil Jackson doing in the thumbnail?
How did the tasbot change credits? Great run!
masterjun has an article commenting on what he did, but basically he changed the credits by rewriting them real-time once they spawned, as they were still offscreen.
Slain087 Nice! Will check the article, thanks!
Link to article, for future readers of these comments: tasvideos.org/Masterjun/Doc/AGDQ2018.html
What Book is this zelda Book???? How is the exact Name?
Ok what the fuck how does somebody actually accomplish this
The level of skill to beat this at all is incredible... to be able to consistently beat it this fast is absolutely insane.
Scarf!
33:45 SO epic :D
1:10:06
I don't get the TAS run - was the Cappy part and the part where Luigi comes in actually part of the original ROM? or is it a joke
With TAS, you can start a series of glitches that end with you being able to rewrite the game's code using all four multitabbed controllers. The part after Luigi appearing was just a nicely crafted slideshow.
Wow that's kind of insane... thanks!
You don’t put the start times anymore?
#slaypoo. I'm obsessed.
How does one get involved in this type of thing?
Depends. Some people get into it through events like this or RPG Limit Break; some naturally get into speedrunning their favorite games, some find sites like speedrun.com. If you're talking about getting into GDQ itself, registrations for potential games/runners/volunteers start up a few months beforehand.
who is this announcer?
PogChamp
Psh, not collecting all 900 korok seeds. I did. Only took... like a week of comparing my map to an online one and trying to figure out which ones I'm missing. Which is a lot harder than it sounds, since the location you start getting a lot of koroks is nowhere near where they're marked on the map...
Hey Poo you sexy sexy beast!
yeah these hack runs are cool because its new levels you havent seen. Most games its just everyone has seen them so many times. This is new, and you can make new levels to keep them different.
YOSHI KILL B)
who let this normie into adgq with his super mark young bucks t shirt lmao good run
I am totally a Mark ;)
tas
Is the thumbnail a meme now?
Hyper Everything is a meme now
Why do you have tens of minutes of useless video at the beginning of every VOD?
Is this made on the Mario Maker or?
It's a ROM hack of Super Mario World based on some levels that PangaeaPanga also did on Mario Maker. They use a flash cart to play the hack on a real SNES, though.
ROM Hacks are basically modifications to the coding of a game that override portions of the original in order to do all kinds of things like simple cheats, translations to other languages, new levels, new content, just about anything really.
They hack the original Super Mario World ROM to be able to do that.
This is either run on an emulator or on a SNES.
Easy. I can do this with my toe nails... after they've been cut off.
thats not 100%, he miss a lot of coins
