hi lauren, ellie here from michigan. you mentioned streaks in top coating. well I've learned a technique that helps with streaking. its called paint and roll, use a syntec paint brush to apply the paint then roll it with a small sponge roller to remove streaks. comes out smooth and projects turn out flawless and beautiful. just thought i'd share what works for me. i also do it in sections as i go along before the paint dries. love your channel its very helpful. The color of those drawers is quintessentially Danish modern-- the most important influence in the mid century.
Beautiful. I like two tone but i would have painted the legs or stained them to match the drawers, I don't like three tone.
Nah. People like different things. She is going to do every piece differently and try new techniques and new color palettes. In this case, she preserved the nature of the piece. She’s genuine and talented, and she’s teaching as she goes. Fabulous. 🙌🙌🙌
Hi Lauren and Nieman, I love the MCM style. I really like what you did with this piece. I think if it was my project, I would have kept the base either the color of the paint or the drawers. But the fun thing about watching your videos is that I get fresh ideas and you are keeping us current regarding products. Please keep up the great work!
bold move to have a 3-tone piece....certainly different than what we are usually shown, AND THAT IS WHAT MAKES YOUR CHANNEL SUPERIOR!!! You show us things not seen elsewhere...It's why we keep coming back...keep up the good (creative) work.
I'm sorry. I usually love most everything you do. I'm not a big fan of MCM but I think the legs and bottom would look better painted to make the piece more cohesive looking. I am constantly learning from you so thank you.
I like the walnut tone better than the light. The piece looked to be in great condition to begin with. Some flippers just use the restore a finish and re-sell without painting or completely stripping. This might have been a good candidate for that. But I like that you use your creativity to make something your own.
That dresser was in such great condition! As an experiment, if you ever come across one of those again, you should see if you can just clean it up and resell as is. That piece would command a lot of money in my market with the wood! Less time and expenses, you might come out even or ahead! Just a thought, great job on the paint. I'm thrilled to see you introduce these all in one paints!

I lived through the "modern at the time" that my parents liked SO MUCH" and I didn't like it at the time... But, you have a talent of bringing it "up-to-date" while preserving it's "original character" (because it was UNIQUE at the time and needs to be acknowledged as a design-type that met the needs of adults at the time (post WW2 generation)).

Love how this turned out. The only thing I might have done is to have painted the legs/bottom the same blue. But that's just me.. The paint looks goods and sounds great...its only one step. Whoo Hoo!
Great video! Great piece. The colors are awesome. Going to use the same blue on my, six high, chest of drawers. I can’t decide if I should paint the wood knobs blue or leave them wood tone.

I had 6 brain surgeries last year and got hooked on this furniture flipping (and TH-cam in general) to keep my mind off the pain! Totally understand and I’m sorry your still hurting! Since being on my feet again I’ve managed to flip and sell 3 pieces! Fun times! Speedy recovery!

Beautiful ( as usual)! I used your discount code and purchased two 32oz paints from the One collection. This Fathom Blue is too beautiful not to purchase and I also fell in love with Restoration Bronze. I want to use one of them ( not sure which one yet) on a Dresser and two nightstands set. I think both colors would look fabulous on these!

This is the best of what one means when imagining midcentury. That color with the wood is outstanding. I agree with another comment that the base should match the drawers but then if it didn't turn out exactly,I would hate to regret that decision. I hope the lady who had it since she was small,the one who sold it and had horses could see it,if she cares to. Thank you. As usual the filming and sound is so good.

For me personally though, I would have painted the base and the legs to match either the paint colour you chose or stained them to match the wooden drawers.

I think overall the piece looks ok. The only reason I say “ok” is because personally, I would’ve done the drawers in a natural wood tone. I love the color of the paint, and that it’s an all-in-one. Great job Lauren! 😊

LOVE this piece and how it came out!!! I love the combination of the dark wood with the blue which is a beautiful blue and I like the natural that you left the base. Stunning!! Very beautiful! I would have kept the base veneer as the base has vertical streaks from either the wood or sander. But it is gorgeous. Love the style.
Oh, if I’d only kept all my MCM pieces, but in the 70’s it was so passé! Love the drawers. I think the base should match the drawers though, cause the wood looks blotchy. Love your videos, Lauren. 🤗💜

You are such an inspiration. I don’t have the creativity to do the prices that you do but may start with some small pieces. Paint has come a long way. I love the finish on the drawers, so rich looking. Please take care of your back. Maybe raise the projects higher. your 60 year old self will thank you LOL.

It would be cool to see a console that has the stereo system inside! They were SO popular back in the 70’s but great pieces! It had entertainment inside a really pretty MCM cabinet. Oh! Maybe redo a victrola!! You are so talented whatever you do will be amazing!!
Great video! Awesome makeover! I like the three tones. I’ve been looking for the right color combination, first or my six drawer chest-of-drawers, and now I’ve found it. It however has matching wood knobs and I can’t decide if I should make them blue.

I love the paint color with the drawer color...I would prefer the legs to match the drawers...but...it still came out so pretty.

I’m getting ready to refinish a Barney Flagg Drexel dresser. Refinished ones run about $3800. I got it for $50 and it’s going to test every one of my skills.
I love the colours you’ve chosen but for the Unstained wood base. It needs to be stained the colour of the drawers, or at least paint it blue! It’ll improve the overall look 100%
Have you given any thought to putting on a furniture clinic. People would pay for supplies, the piece and instruction. It would make a great video

I love updated MCM, but... I think the base was constructed with cheaper wood under the veneer,. With that veneer gone, the base's vertical color streaks and blotchy grain detract from the sleek horizonal MCM look. Still a cool piece, though. I hope you get a quick sale.
