    Elegant solution.

    I shortened the brass tube and the plastic tube, then attached the plastic tube and bottle (that came with the press), nice and clean, no noise, zero issues.
    Mine is all tucked up neatly behind the press, and super easy access. Primers roll down the tube, never kinks, and primers never get hung up in the hose.
    But hey, if thats working for you, thats all that matters. My concern with yours, is all the primer residue leaking out from the spring bending open.

      Thanks and I have no schmutz from the primers coming out of the spring. It all falls down into the catch bin in the top drawer.

    i just draped the plastic tube off the front with it going into a soda bottle, have had no issues.

    good solution, mine came with a clear flexible tube and catch canister though, I assume the earlier models did not.

      Mine had the tube, but not a catch canister. The tube just kinked up too often for me to like how it worked with my mount.

    Why couldn't you use the clear tubing that comes with the press?

    • @scorch101
      @scorch101  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DonziGT230 the clear tubing kinks and hangs up on the hole drilled in the table. When kinked it does not freely pass the spent primer. The spring stays in a circular cross section even when the ram deforms it always allowing the spent primer to freely dispense.

    Curious about your Husky bench. Do you find it to be a sturdy reloading bench when using your Hornady LNL AP? Any flexing of the top when using your press?How thick is the wood top? Is the top fully supported underneath by a metal top to the drawers below? Can the wood top be replaced if necessary? Thanks !

    • @scorch101
      @scorch101  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is a very sturdy bench and I also bolted it to the wall to keep it even more rigid. There is no flexing of the top and the wood is about 0.5 inch thick, The metal only runs around the edges I believe. I think it would be difficult to replace the wood top. Thanks for the comments and questions.

    Nice solution, maybe put some rubber tubing around the spring where it contacts the cams and take out the screeching noise?

      I have found now after a couple years, the hole worn by the spring is now silent.

    why not just bend the tube so it sends the primer to the rear of the press and put your catch bucket under-behind the press?

    • @scorch101
      @scorch101  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The mount that I have my press on had trouble with the hose kinking and primers getting stuck in the tube that I had to constantly clean out. With the spring, I have NEVER had a primer get stuck and the spring just does not kink.

    Set your decapping and resizing die up on a single stage press. Knock out the primers and resize the brass, then wet tumble. If you don't wet tumble, get a Frankfort Arsenal depriming gun I've got at LnLAP and don't deprime on it at all.

      Thanks but I only have so much room in my Reloading shed and already have three presses in there. I have started to wet tumble however in addition to my other cleaning methods and now have near new brass when I do reload.

    I have the exact same setup with the exact same problem and its driving me nuts! do you have a link to those HDX bending tubes? What department in home depot did you find them in? thanks for the video! thumbs up from me!

    Run the plastic tube that comes with the press into a trash can with a small piece of dowel taped to end so the weight keeps it in the trash can and the problem is solved.

    • @scorch101
      @scorch101  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No issues with that. I like the fact that the "primer mess" is hidden in my top drawer.

    the plastic tubing that comes with the press does the same thing...and no grating noise...

      As mentioned now that the hole has worn, the spring is silent.

    I just connected a plastic tube that runs through my bench to a trach can.

      If that works for you great. It did not work for me.

    I got a longer piece of clear tubing from Lowe's.

    • @romansten9
      @romansten9 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pat McBride I like that idea. Quieter, won't cause any wear, and you might even see the primers fall if need be.

    • @scorch101
      @scorch101  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tried that but it kept kinking and backing up the primers. With this I have had zero issues and the 1,000's of primers collect neatly in the bid I have in the top drawer.
