Excellent step by step vid. Important to note that the smooth part of the pins that go on top are sized a little longer than the bottom ones. You sort of point that out but the wind noise was loud during that part. Took me a second to figure out why they were not fitting correctly. After inspecting them closer i noticed they were not exactly the same and switched them up. Worked out perfect after that. :)
I hope people see this so you can help them out! I've been thinking of recreating this video since it was one of my first videos and I've upgraded my mic and camera since then!
@@ufixitauto5237 Well, this is one of the best i've seen. Clear, quick and concise... and the camera work is great. There's so many garbage vids out there that love to ramble on before getting to the point and then do extreme close ups on everything where its hard to tell what's what. The pin and bushing kit i used from 1A Auto is like the ones you took off with the e clips. If you do a redo of this vid, i would say do it exactly the same but maybe show that there are different types of kits available out there that work... i.e., some with e clips some with a nut to hold on the pins. Cheers!
Great video! My factory pins were riveted on so I had to cut them off. The top pin on the top bracket was seized on the bottom side. It took a while to hammer out. If you have these kind of pins I would recommend cutting off the bottoms pins first, then both ends of the top pin and get the bracket out so you can hammer out the stuck piece
So happy I stumbled across this, my know it all body guy said he could try to move the door a bit but since they have welded mounts it’s pretty much screwed.. I can clearly see your door had the same symptoms as mine and a couple other videos iv just watched. Thank you
I'm sorry about the audio only coming out of the left side! This is when I first started my channel and didn't have the equipment I have now. I've since gone from a GoPro to an actual high quality camera and have gotten a better mic. I have gone away from doing mostly voice overs, to commentating as I go and I hope you enjoy the content more! I look to invest as much as I can back into the channel to give you better quality content! Thank you so much for your support and for your feedback!
Except for the wind noise perfect video. Straight and two the point. I have a 2000 Silverado with the exact same problem.I am going to use your methods to fix my problem. Maybe do it today! Thank you. P.S I don't see why your channel doesn't have a lot more subscribers. Chris Fix does the same kind of content and is at 9 million,
This video was perfect! The step by steps really helped me with my gmc. Just replaced the pins on my driver side and now it closes and shuts as it should and man it was a relief. 💯😎 Thanks for the video and I hope to see more awesome steps in your future videos
Great video you explained everything well. You where talking to us and not telling us how to do it. A lot of other people don’t know the difference. Keep up the good work. Have a good one & happy late new years.
I think it's important to note that the new pins with the bolt are way better than the aftermarket c clip pins. I used the set that utilized the c clip and they did not fix my issue so now I have to replace them with the ones you used
Thank you sir! Saw another video to replace the pins but those things were $250! Just order mine not looking forward to remove the door! Its heavy and saw you pickup it up like nothing... lol thanks again!
I have replaced the pins twice in the last three years. Oem pins were with c clips. A lot cheaper, but these new nylon nut pins seem to be a lot sturdier. Thanks for the heads up on an annoying but common issue.
Mines an 04. Had to buy the pin kit with the bracket as the OEM pins were not coming out of the hole and it just bent the bracket. They were hard to install and for some reason my door still sags a hair when opening. And the top bracket bolt isn't in because the part on the door that the bolt threads into didn't line up properly. So now I have to take the door back off and try to do it again. My hinges are tight and hard to move by hand but the door opens and closes fine. Backing them off isn't the best idea that will just cause it to wear faster.
Yes! Good tip! Unless lifting a truck door is easy for you, lowering the window is a great tip to making it easier for one person to take off the door! 🍻
Hey man. Great video, Great instruction, I would recommend investing in a mic that is better quality only came out the left side. But good job bro keep up the good work I am gonna sub in hopes of more videos just like this one. I am ordering the pins tomorrow from your link.
I appreciate the feedback! Since this video I did purchase a mic, so hopefully you'll see that fixed from now on, but please let me know if you do catch any more issues like that!
😬 No idea. Lots of different things depending on the rattle. Could be the hinge position, the latch, the door panel, the pins, the door, the car (if it's been in an accident and has had bad body work) or a few other things.
My 04 avalanche door is just like this, maybe a little worse. Only bad thing is I broke one of the bolts off along with a piece of the pin trying to tighten the door before I knew it was the pins that were worn.
i did this today amd it did not fix my shagging door and i dont know how you did it but i tried to man handle the door back on and it would fight me every single time then i used a jack and after the 8th time i gave up and pulled out the cherry picker for all of my effort and it didnt fix the issue
Was your truck involved in an accident? Or something hit the door hard? I'm thinking that the only other things it could be, in your application, is misaligned door hinges or possible a bent body.
@@ufixitauto5237 i just got the truck 3 weekends ago and it doesnt look like it was, but when i replaced the pins with new washers they all when on smooth didnt even have the tap them in and the very top one was very loose like it has play even with the new washer
@Scott W. so far so good. And my brother has a 2002 Tahoe that is dying and if anything, I'll give him the truck when his Tahoe dies and see about maybe getting the same truck but see if I can find one fully loaded :)
They gotta be cut out 😬 looks like mine were already replaced before I purchased the truck, so I had it easy! I had an angle grinder ready just in case 😅
You're not the only one! It's a terrible design. Mine has not crapped out on me yet luckily, but I am going to be looking for an upgraded design and then I will be coming out with another video!

What year model?
I have no idea how you managed to hammer yours out. I trued a drill, hammer, and then ended up bending the hinge. I had to order new hinges. 🤷🏻♂️

Thank you for making this video. Extremely detailed, no bs, helpful video. I never would’ve found the pins you were using if it were for this video.

EXCELLENT video. I got these 2 hinge kits arriving tonight, I am so excited to start reducing the wind noise in my Sierra! Cheers brother.

Did you put the oem ones without grease or with grease?
Scared me when I saw the grinder. Nice video.
Great video thanks, took me 18 mins to do mine :)
You made this look EASY. Going to attempt this on my 2000 Silverado.
Best of luck!

Will this stop the door from rattling when I go over bumps?
😬 No idea. Lots of different things depending on the rattle. Could be the hinge position, the latch, the door panel, the pins, the door, the car (if it's been in an accident and has had bad body work) or a few other things.
What are the plugs like on the passenger side?
Very well done!
Thanks this is very hopeful video 📹
Very well done.
This weekends project looks easy to do but mine are pressed in not the snap ring
Great video thanks for sharing.
Great video thank you 🙏🏽!!
Was the door really heavy I have the same exact truck year and color and wondering how heavy it is thanks
It does have some weight to it. I was able to do it all myself, but to avoid hurting yourself I would recommend having a second person to help 😁
Tks for video nice work helpful to me

How did you get the door on?
Did you replace the hinges also or was it just the pins/bushings?
Just the pins and bushings 😁

@joeydelmarsjr.646 maybe the whole hinge needs to be replaced. Definitely uncommon, but possible.
Is that a crew cab?
3 door extended :)
Thanks 😊
You're welcome :)
Hardest part is getting your door back on and no videos that I've found show it.

POS factory hinges
Make a vid on ur stereo
You didn’t even show the final result. If your door closed properly or not.
Oh, well, it worked 😁
i changed them about 6 months ago and it’s sagging again
Its just a common fail point for them 😬
Mine just has longer pins that go through not individual ones
At least that’s how it looks I need to double check mines an 04
I wonder if someone already swapped them out? If not, it's good to know that GM did change them out throughout the years haha
You are going to have to cut off the pins if they were on from the factory.
No need to do all that
Why not Explain. ??? Lol
