- HOW TO PREPARE FOR NURSING SCHOOL. Are you heading into nursing school but are unsure what to expect or how to prepare? In this video I’ll share all the things I wish I had known before starting nursing school. I’ll cover how to prepare for nursing school, what supplies you actually need for nursing school, which nursing school books you need and if you should get them in digital form or hard copy. I also go into some study strategies and how to find some life balance while in school.

I'm a 53 yr old CNA and I've finally decided to go nursing school. I've always enjoyed being a CNA, but in the past few years, it's been really hard to make a living. I feel like it's a little too late for me to become a nurse, but there is such a shortage and I also want to upgrade my living situation.
It's never too late and having all that experience as a CNA is going to be so beneficial for you! Go for it girl! You got this!!!

I’m starting nursing school in May super excited and scared at the same time. I’m a mom of 3 beautiful kiddos. They definitely keep me on my toes! I’m 33 yrs old and finally my dream of becoming a nurse is going to come true! Can’t wait!
I relate with you. I'm starting practical nursing too in May and I'm a mother of 3. I'm not sure how I'm going to manage but I'm so happy I finally got admission into nursing. 😍😍😍

This is EXACTLY what I needed to hear! I've often heard horror stories about nursing school, so naturally I got into panic mode when I was accepted into my program. Though you don't personally know me, hearing from a current NP and former nursing student that I will make it through nursing school, is just what I needed.

I finished nursing school in December of 2021, and this week I started my first nursing job 😄
I’m a senior in high school and interested in going into the nursing field. This was the only video that made me feel like this is something I could actually do and not make me feel terrified.
The internet can be a scary place. And people like to make things seem crazy. You got this!

I'm 42 and am working on my prerequisites before nursing. I dropped out of college 18 years ago when I was put on hospital bed rest with my oldest. Five kids later and I'm finally going back to finish what I started. This video gave me hope that I can do this, even at my old age. Thank you!

My advice is to get an ipadpro for sure...gamechanger. Do all your undergrads stuff first, then do your prereqs

I've just been accepted to nursing school in Oklahoma City, to start January 2021! I'm 33 years old, a wife and mom and am getting really nervous about nursing school!! Our daughter is 10 years old and has a rare genetic disorder that causes epilepsy. She's g-tube dependent, wheelchair-bound, non-verbal but communicates with her eye gaze device. She's a princess girl and 100,000% the reason I want to be a nurse. I can be paid to be her in-home nurse for 40-hours a week, which is stellar! But also, we have had so very many doctor appointments in clinics and unfortunately many inpatient stays - when I see those nurses taking care of my girl I think "I want to do that for others, too!". Thank you so much for your nursing school content! I learn best with videos and note taking so I really hope my school is not book-driven learning! haha!

Thank you so much for making this video. You're right, I have been through so much and I have survived. I can do this. As a 40 year old single mother who has been caregiving for my own mom and spending lots of time in the hospital over the last 10 years, I have had the burning desire to be a nurse for years. I have also talked myself in and out of it, dropping out of prerequisites because I thought it was going to be too much and ruin my relationship with my now twelve-year-old son. It's videos like this that help to remind me that I have what it takes an I can accept the challenge humbly. I have survived so many other things. I can do this. From the bottom of my heart, thank you
You CAN do this! We are always our own worst enemy. I am a 27 year old male who has been dilly-dallying for years now, even though I know I could be a top-notch nurse. Raised by nurses. I always doubt my capabilities but I'm tired of limiting myself. I'm starting believe I too can do this. Best of luck to you.

I start Nursing School in 2 days (Jan 2nd). Have experience in studying with other degrees, but this will be totally different and more grueling 18 months. I'm a 31 y/o male starting this journey, have to work part time, but single with no kids so I can do it. I eventually want to be a Practitioner, but I'm really excited for this. Your videos have been so very helpful Liz!! I'm starting a Certificate 4 in health and nursing prep next year to begin my pathway into nursing and give me that extra boost in knowledge as a personal preference, I'm already looking at nursing textbooks but you telling me to relax has really helped me slow down a little. Watching this as I finish my first semester but still super helpful 😂 also yes 100000x to the whole idea that it’s hyped up to be the hardest thing in the world. I definitely heard that a lot, especially since I’m doing an accelerated program. I’ve had 1 or 2 exams a week which has been intense, but it hasn’t been as stressful/hard as I thought. But again, only finishing my first semester, so I guess it’ll only go downhill from here lol

Stick to that because you may say that you’ll give everything that you have but once you get used to the work you’ll give a little release. And near the end, wanting to be done is real and you have to push through.

Tiffany M. Prevost Awesome. Im 38. I became a Medical Assistant in 06. NEVER WORKED IN THAT FIELD because i got a Banquet job that paid me $36 and hr. ON CALL. Im a single mom. But my kids are grown. I wana go back to the medical field. Being 38. I thought i was too old. :(
I'll be entering into the RIBN program, four year program, where I'll be attending my community college and university at the same time. Basically, I will get my ASN in my third year. After that, take the NCLEX exam during the third summer. Then I will get my BSN in my final year. I'm very glad I got accepted into this program because it's about 40k to get my BSN. The program is very rigorous though. After that, I'm planning to get my NP and hopefully work at the hospice center. Wish me luck!

Amazing timing for me! It's finals week for my last semester of pre-reqs, and nursing school starts in just over a month. Almost time for 5 back-to-back semesters of stress, but it will be so worth it!

I have to say that this video (i havent finished yet) is like the best thing ever. I plan on going to college for nursing. And i havent even stepped foot into a classroom yet and i alrrady feel likebi can do this. Thank you for this video! And like someone else said you are like the nurse mom. Wish I had seen this video back when I first got admitted to nursing school but there was no TH-cam back then!😂i did psych nursing for 15 years and decided to stay home to raise my two babies(one is in college now and the other one in high school!) I applaud you for being such an inspiration.

I just discovered you today, and you are wonderful!! I've already watched 3 of your videos and look forward to watching more. I am 38 years old, married with two kids and began taking accelerated full time courses in Jan 2020 to get into the nursing program for Sept 2021. I worked full time at a children's hospital as an admin and wanted something fulfilling and decided to make this change as I knew I'd regret it if I didn't. I feel comforted to have these videos to refer to, thank you :)

i've been in the medical field for about 7 years already, mostly on the clerical side, and now i work as a porter. when i graduated high school i wanted to become a nurse but my mental health took a turn and looking back i honestly would not have survived nursing school and all the challenges. now that i'm 27 i truly feel ready to take the plunge! thanks for making this video, it's made me quite excited to get started.

I enrolled at a Junior College last semester after not being content with where my life was going after graduating from university, and I've decided to apply to their nursing program. how do you know what college to go to since there are prerequisites for nursing schools(different courses for most that i have seen) and what if you don't get into the one you took courses for specifically?
My school is a bit different since I've been in the nursing program since freshman year and all my courses are specifically for nursing students and are like the prereqs. I think for choosing schools, I just looked Ay which one had nursing that I can take at a BSN level right out of Highschool, the location, and how great the schools financial package would be for me.
I needed to hear this I’m dedicating the next 5 yrs to my nursing career BSNlife

It’s so refreshing hearing that some people (like yourself) worked while going through an accelerated nursing program. I just started my program (it is also accelerated) and I am working as well.
I am 36 year old and wanted to be a nurse since I was 18, but after hearing everyone say they struggled I didn’t think I could swing it. I’m finally deciding that even if I fail, at least I tried. Thank you for this information. It was very helpful!

Whelp..I am a 42y/o guy about retire from the Air Force after 22 years. Spent the entire time as a Firefighter. I started down the road to nursing school 20 years ago, but things kept getting in the way. Now, since I am retiring nothing else will get in the way. I start clinicals on 19 Aug 19 and I am so excited. Thanks for uploading all your videos, I like seeing the videos from a "more experienced" individual that the others that are from fresh outta high school and straight into college.

Daniel morris congrats on the retirement! My hubby will retire from the AF in a couple years, so I’m starting nursing school to help that transition. I also started this road right out of high school, but PCSing always got in the way. Now’s the time!! Good luck to you!

This is exactly the video I need. I start my nursing program in January! At the moment i've got a to do list full of things to do including recertifying my CPR, ordering my nursing kit and books, etc.
A week and a half ago I went to the uniform store to try on the scrubs we'll be wearing for clinical/sim lab and it just felt really good.
I know I hear so much about how hard nursing school is/how it was the hardest 2+ years of nurses' lives, but a voice inside my head says, "you'll be fine. Everything's going to be okay. You can do it, you can make it, believe in yourself."
I'm looking forward to it.
