- What if pokemon games gave us real agency, like the ability to join the evil team? In this video, I look at what the story of the Kanto region would be if Red had chosen to join Team Rocket when the opportunity was offered to him. Would Red overthrow Giovanni? Would he still become the league champion? Would Mewtwo play a larger roll in the story? Let's find out

The only question is how Oak and Mom would react-
I think "oh team rocket came and stole a box of Earth Badges" is more plausible than them being in kahoots with a gym leader.
Now if someone could make this story into a rom hack I’d love them forever! Great video!
Did you try the "Rocket Edition" rom hack of Fire Red? If not, I bet you will like it. You don't play as Red but you start as a Rocket grunt. It is one of the best rom hacks I know about.
This would be a cool series! I’m voting Red takes over Team Rocket. But what happens next? We see the next events in GSC; how do those events change? And what about Team Rainbow Rocket? Super interesting to think about! 😊
It'd be fun to see as you'll have a full powered team rocket, with all the Kanto legendaries, moving on Johto 3 years before Gold leaves on his journey
Good ol' Nugget Bridge. Technically we did kick Team Rocket out of Mount Moon, so I can see why he wouldn't be fond of them for attacking him and whatnot. But it would be cool to see what would've happened. It would be neat for Red to be a bit dark. I mean how often do we treat our own Pokémon like tools, like Giovanni?
I have to wonder if the Master Ball would even work on Mewtwo. I can easily see him using his powers to destroy the ball before it even hits him. In the manga, the Master Ball only worked because Red used his entire team to sneak Pika in close enough to tap Mewtwo with the ball. It was an unexpected outcome. And heck. Even with the Earth Badge in Giovanni's hand, Anime Mewtwo didn't listen to him. So either way, Giovanni or Red would need to earn his respect somehow.
I know it works differently across the different media. I'm sure there's a Whiscash in the anime that just eats one thrown at it. But, for this what if I was trying to stick to gameplay mechanics, so the masterballs would always have a 100% success rate
@@CaptainFidget That makes perfect sense. I am curious as to how Mewtwo would behave in a criminal Red's hand instead of Giovanni's. Could be interesting. Though my best bet is Giovanni would want to be the one making the first capture. Red had the potential to become a right hand man.
My take would be instead of a full on Uniform, a small special Lapel Pin given by Giovanni, marking him as an undercover agent. He would continue filling the Pokédex, if only to determine the strongest Pokémon to obtain for Giovanni. From there, he would challenge Erika before going back to Lavender Tower. Getting the Rainbow Badge would be helpful sooner more so than later. He then returns to Lavender Tower, collecting the Ghost Pokémon and Cubone. And thanks to the PC Box, Oak doesn’t have to know what he’s doing with the Pokémon he’s captured. From there, he returns to Surge with a super strong team to get the Thunder Badge before reporting for the Silph Takeover. Instead of battling the Rocket Grunts, he gets items from them on Giovanni’s orders for his success at Lavender Tower, including Rare Candies to continue strengthening his team. He “confronts” Giovanni after defeating his rival once more and is gifted the Master Ball from the President.
After Team Rocket “Retreats”, he returns to the Celadon Hideout and reports to Giovanni about his progress, turning over the Master Ball in exchange for a super rare Pokémon for free (Dratini or Porygon would be appropriate).
From there, Red continues his journey, gathering up the Marsh, Soul, and Volcano Badge before reporting to Giovanni in Viridian. He “defeats” Giovanni for the Gym Badge, and is qualified to challenge the Elite Four and Champion.
Prior to doing so, he fills out nearly all of the Pokédex and puts together his strongest team to topple the League and claim the Kanto Region in the name of Team Rocket.
Once he’s champion, he appoints Giovanni as his Second in Command (though in reality, Red still reports to Giovanni as a special member), and together, they dismantle the region to their liking as they rule with an Iron Fist.

I would love to see a sequel
Naturally I would say Red let's Giovanni get Mewtwo as even though Mewtwo was the strongest at the time, it still is only 1 pokemon vs the mass amount of pokemon Red has caught and raised. Plus once Giovanni gets the Original Mewtwo he would go back to his work of cloning mew again, Second Mewtwo for Red making the second more powerful and easier to control for Red. From there The world will be in Rocket's hands.
How you made this story so similar, but different is great.

This was a great video, id love to see it continued be interesting to see silvers story play out with not only his dad still in charge of team rocket but with red and Mewtwo by his side, if you spun it off to other evil teams id be curious how you do black and white, would black be king of team plasma and N the good guy

Great video!! I'm super intrigued, I LOVE these what-if scenarios, and looking at the Pokemon universe through a different lens, or from a different angle. I'd be curious to see how each ending would affect the Johto story!

@@CaptainFidget In that case, could you make scenarios for Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD as well? They have two interesting evil teams that I have no doubt could make for great scenarios
