0:56 the levitate Gengar is just drawn an inch higher lmao
"drawn" is such a strong word here lol
@@viiranen true haha
guy don't even try do draw a floor or shadow lol
Afro is cooking with this design 😂
What do you mean ?
Hes litery perfect
This is something I thought about a LOT when I was 9 years old. I always wanted to try designing them myself, but I could never really draw anything that suited my brain's satisfaction since I wanted immediate results alongside just not being able to draw very well lol. I was very surprised to see your tweet and also see it start a new trend (and even seeing a friend of mine blow up).

is that jack canada 😱
This is the most unique Pokémon idea I’ve heard in years ngl
The idea of pokemon being slightly different based on which ability they have is a cool idea. It would invite some nice creativity to their designs though it could come with a cost regarding competitive battles. Players can easily determine what abilities the opponents' pokemon have by recognizing their altered appearance, removing some surprise tactics.
Regardless, this is a concept that I wish was explored more.
I love how levitate Gengar is just Gengar but lifted up slightly, like yeah what did you expect?
I like the idea of the different ability forms having ~subtle design differents, like how animals irl aren't all identical and they have slight variations
You started an entire movement
Just looking at the alt forms montage at the end, if the official games had these forms my team would probably look waaaay different, that intimidate arcanine or technician scizor would just have to be added, so much cool art
I have a dumb idea so here it is: Some Stemas don’t seem to fit in put in the wild, so to differentiate from Pokémon, make them only accessible through labs that can be found, where you have to fight a trainer for each lab, and different labs hold different stemas. I also think it would be fun to have hard scientists protecting the advanced labs, where multiple types of stemas can form in.
Ability Forms sound sick, they should add it.
BRILLIANT I love little details like this
Chromato is going directly into my top 5 faves.
Lmaoo the Gengar that's just slightly floating above the ground is so funny
i wouldve wanted my art here but i read the post where you asked for permission too late... oops
i still rly enjoyed making alternate designs for magnezone!!! thx for making such a great idea for alternate pokemon forms!!
Its a great idea. But you hit the nail on the head about the art and how much work itd be to make 1-3 extra variants for each mon. And we know how little time Gamefreak gets to make its pokemon games typically
Omfg, yes, I would love this to be their next gimick! Having variant designs based on ability would be amazing. I'd literally try for a living dex of every design. XD
i like how when you showed the open team sheets example 5/6 of the pokemon shown only have one possible ability
So basically what Spectrobes: Beyond the Portals did but with abilities instead of defensive and offensive variations
love how the hashtag exploded and everyone's just having a blast sharing their versions
who knows maybe in the future we could manifest this in canon, alt versions fanart were a thing years ago waaay back then
then regional forms then became a mainstay starting with Alola
I really like the sillier onesXD That said, if this was to actually be adapted in the games, I could see it maybe working only with hidden abilities, and probably even then for a select few. The starters seem like it would work, since all the starters basically have the same base ability, just changed to apply to their main type, and then they have the hidden ability which is more unique. I feel like that could work
Speed Boost Blaziken would look like Sonic. The two already have similar proportions.
10:18 AHA! SMILING FRIENDS REFERENCE!
You should do a series on giving Pokémon scientific names. And steam creatures
The ditto one is amazing
Every Intimidate user just becomes Jojo drawn.
8:34 HES HERE
OOMF IS HERE!
I can see the "different forms for different abilities" easily being made into a pokémon in the future. It's def more interesting than other gimmicks we have see before, for example spinda's spot variation (I don't hate spinda btw, just think it feels a little underdeveloped).
Surprised there wasn’t even a single gardevoir ability form art huh, you’d expect people to jump on it
No you're right we need Klefki in game to have randomized key combinations like Spinda spots.
ive always thought of this idea since i was smaller but never looked it up before an then BOOM youtube blessed me, maybe it was getting tired of me just thinking of it.
I could definitely see this in another Kanto remake.
I love the Wingdings before Breloom
Darn it I miss the stream. But I do like the concept of the abilities changing an appearance.
9:52 I love the one by proxentauri they added so much detail it looks 3d like the games
hey i drew that one, thank you !! i'm glad you liked it :)
If you rearrange the letters in stema you can get the word “meats”
6:56 Maybe these can be like your equivalent of Eevolutions (and yes I know you already did designs based on them that isn't the point) in which you start with 3 but gradually branch out into more as the game gets sequels. Of course, this is just a possibility, not a suggestion and we have no idea if this game will or won't get a sequel.
For alternate forms in the games, there could just be an option for the 'averaged' normal form that could also be used for competitive?
Technician breloom looks so damn cool kinda wish this was a regional form or mega or sum like that
7:57 Just so you know, there’s an ability in base pokemon called Super Luck which boosts critical hit chance. Since all the other abilities in the video are original with unique names, I thought you would want to know.
I doubt different forms will ever come but different attitudes, maybe.
Oh my god not the Crewmate ditto lol
Maybe they can do this in the games for only some of the pokemons, just like regional forms, gigantamax, and megas
It will probably be mostly gen 1 since its gamefreaks favourite
4:00 Giga Impact Entei?
At the time of this post, I just started the video, and I would like to say that Gen 3 introduced both form changes, and abilities in the Pokémon games. Game Freak could have done form changes based off of abilities starting with Gen 3, but it would be difficult because then they would have to take into account of other factors to fit each form.
YOU made the original tweet??? I can’t believe I didn’t notice
10:17 Mr. Frog!
8:37 Filter Aggron lol.
8:34 also these Voltorbs are very cute.
Whomever let bro cook needs a medal
I have to tell you, there are 3 types of light receptor cells. Rods, cones and light sensitive ganglion-neuron-cells. Those are also in the retina and primarily focus on the motoric side of light sensation, like the reflex to turn your head to movement, to close your eyes because of movement and to change the size of the pupilla.
btw. i like your ideas, but i see why you think it is not likely an option for mainline pokemon.
The unnerve Mewtwo is proof that GF could implement the concept without bloating the budget.
This is so cool!
i know it wouldn't have been realistic but instead of the hatchet you could have done the pistol shrimp gun hands
These are wonderful designs
Bro cooked!
Please got let them do this it would be so cool 🙏
Thank you for the video.
The game looks so cool so far
@cringeyvanilla ate and left no crumbs - 8:34
finally, no more "fake magic guard" boots unaware clefable
yeah lol
now get ready for skill swap magic bounce onto opponent and use trick or treat, then use ghost type curse with clefable for “fake unaware”
Could you make a Fakemon based off of carbon? Also don't have it evolved but have it combined with other Fakemon to basically create a carbon dioxide Fakemon and a methane Fakemon by having it combined with an oxygen Fakemon add a hydrogen Fakemon and so on and so forth ...
Also what if are you way to distinguish video game from Pokemon to make it feel different and not a Pokemon rip-off is to have instead of catching your Fakemon to have them on your team how about when you fight them they drop animal parts like bits of fur and teeth as well as little orbs that represent the periodic table or other materials and you basically combine these objects in a mad scientist chemistry set kind of thing and maybe do a Cooking Mama mini game to determine how good their stats will be like IVs in Pokemon
nice work
what if you use the old desing as a middle stage
Guhlade 💀
I LOVE❤❤❤❤ those design
0:58 WING DINGS MENTIONED
UNDERTALE/DELTARUNE FANS UNITE
RAAAAAAAAAHHH
also there might be ability forms for one or two pokemon, not a form for old pokemon, but a gimmick for a new one.
Awesome!!!!!
THAT'S OOMF 😭😭😭😭
Been watching n0Rtist for a while and glad to see they started an entire art trend and are now getting attention
That would be very cool if abilities did change 'em a bit, but not too much
This singlehandedly create some of the greatest fan alt forms Pokemon designs on Twitter I've ever seen
Yeah! My favourite was the a agron one shown at the end. It was so detailed!
let him cook
Let him cook now
let him cook
I SAID, LET. HIM. COOOK
He’s COOKING!!!
*edit music*
I'm convinced that one of Pokémon's big selling points is as a starting point for people's imagination and creativity
You're absolutely right! Even if I'll realistically never code my own fangame, I love creating my own Pokemon and revamping existing mechanics like types and the damage formula
yoo i drew the reuniclus at 9:51 !! thank you sm for featuring my stuff, love and respect your work so much as another artist who loves turning science concepts into character designs :) using s/m/l cones to make different forms is so cool
I love that you based them on different parts of the cell! My favorite has to be Regenerator, but all of them are fantastic. I also love how you did the shading.
@@prof.reuniclus21 thanks so much!! love the username lol, reuniclus is so underrated. i do biology research so i was rly excited to apply my knowledge from the field into these designs!! the guy whose research i based the regenerator form on actually saw my post and he thought it was cool, i think i peaked haha
@@Proxentauri That’s so cool!! Biology is such an underrated subject honestly, most people skip right to ecology instead and pretend that it’s all biology has to offer. There are so many ways to gather empirical data, and it also helps us understand ourselves.
Having someone acknowledge you when you cite them has always been kind of my dream, lol.
Whoever made that Gengar Cursed Body vs. Levitate drawing is a genius XD

just imagine kingdra with a military sniper in his mouth
bro theyre gonna look like moonscorched Levi from fear and hunger lmfao
That one Peashooter variation in GW2 but as Kingdra would go hard

@Korbreeto you just gave me a visual i wish i’d never seen…
Very happy to have my drawing shown there
Congrats man 🎉
SAME!!
Congrats man it's damn cool 🎉
Technician breloom looks like the “Nothing personnel, kid” meme
Now I want to see an actual Pokemon one day with a different design for each ability, and maybe even different stats!
As much as I want different ability forms for each mon, having different stats is no different from a separate species/regional form of that mon
That feels like Lycanroc with fewer steps.
I think ability "stances" could be really cool and more realistic. SV is already experimenting with multiple stances (out of battle, battle, flying, swimming, etc). For example a Raichu with Static would be more curled up and defensive looking, while one with Lightning Rod would be more active with its tail sticking up.
Kaephoon's Gooey Goomy referencing the character from Kirby actually made me laugh really hard
Funnily enough. Using pokemon rules, having a high crit chance is kinda like having a high chance to ignore defensive buffs when attacking
The Pokémon Adventures/Pokemon Special manga did something to this effect in the Red/Blue/Yellow chapters with Arbok. Different patterns on its hood meant that each Arbok had different abilities - and ultimately, hiding those patterns negated the ability to use the ability.
im so happy this concept went viral cus its such a good idea I NEED TECHNICIAN BRELOOM TO BE CANOOOOON
This is something that is both cool, but at the same time, a completely bad change. Here's a couple reasons:
1- An entire bloat of new designs: Now, as cool as this concept is, we have to remember a little something... abilities didn't exist in Generations 1 and 2. This essentially means redesigning a lot of the Pokémon to have more variants. This isn't like when they gave over gender differences, where the changes were small, and not all Pokémon received them.
2- There isn't just one species: There's something else this causes, and that's having a lot of different variants mixed on one Pokémon. Things like people being split on "oh i love arbok", "which variant", "shed skin", "dude that looks like, awful, intimidate arbok is clearly the best."
3- Predictability: By doing this, you give away what your strategy is in multiple Pokémon. As an example, pick Clodsire. You never know if Clodsire is gonna run Water Absorb or Unaware. But doing this, the design clearly gives away what they're doing. The only predictions are in the movesets, but it's not as game changing as having to battle Clodsire on what strat it is, besides analyzing the team composition. Or Urshifu, on team preview alone, you don't know if it's Single or Rapid Strike. The prediction becomes a thousand times easier, and it makes competitive Pokémon less of a mind reading game than it already is. Which in my opinion, hurts multiplayer battles, because there's less gambles and brainpower required on winning a game.
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.
I thought about the same thing when I saw this video pop up, I agree
The poison heal looks cute
The fact that this was a trend on Twitter. I love the creativity many artists were able to express with their work
Honestly with how much this was getting posted in a server I was in, I was surprised at first there wasn’t a video being recommended to me about it. Knowing you were the one to start this is quite cool though.
1:49 ribombee with the pollen cloak is both genius and extremely cute!!
Regular cat skitty is not real it cannot harm you.

This Trend was a fun concept to look at my timeline these past few weeks, as well as partake in.
Thank you so much for coming up with this idea, and hope you're game becomes a reality one day.
All of those golurks at 8:24 has 4 times the personality i will ever have, each.
Those are my Woopers at 8:47!! It’s great hearing your intentions behind the idea, cause’ that’s the sort of vibe I got from it too- everyone made awesome designs and there are still really cool ones I’m seeing posted every now and then, I can’t wait to see more!

OMG THE GOOEY GOOMY IS GOOEY FROM KIRBY 9:12
Thank you so much for featuring me! Loved the concept and seeing so many peoples artwork!!!
A good way to make this work ingame while still preserving the base desighn would be to have them transform when the ability activates.
Like for examples gallade gets hit with a dark type move and as the stets raise he changes form.
I’m hella interested in this because this is such a unique idea and I plan on using it in my own region.
I just need to build up the motivation to work on it :/
I'm really curious what is it called?
@@Ashera5469 I haven’t named it at all, I just call it California Region or a random collection of letters when I make a project doc for it
Honestly, as an artist, Chromato is now my favorite
the idea of a pokemon having the gimmick of changing form (and possibly evolution) per ability is a cool concept i hope game freak does at some point
