    I recently bought a used SR500 that is one level below the one here. It's essentially the same bass with two less strings and Bartolini pickups instead of the Nordstrands, all for the grand total of 350 imperial credits. Ibanez makes the best basses that money can buy!

    • @andesneko
      @andesneko 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, but whatever you tell yourself, it is more than just a pickup change.
      PS: The 500 is still a great instrument.

      The material the body is made out of is different. This bass is made out of Ash the 500 is made out of Okume.

      Heard the Barts in the sr5 series are not real barts but like “designed by Bart” for that specific bass.. idk but worth further investigation.

      I have a 605 and the 500. The difference is night and day and I have the 500 up for sale.

    I wish it had 35 inch scale. Unfortunately there is no chance for me to try it, only order it, and given that I usually play metal I am very interested how the low B sounds

    • @ashplaysbass
      @ashplaysbass 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The low B on soundgear basses is surprisingly tight in my experience! I would definitely recommend string it with a .130 or .135 though, just to get a little extra tension
      Tldr; it’s a solid sounding B, not the best but not the worst; bigger strings will make it perfect

    Dear Henning, could you do a video about why guitars come with snot-colored bindings and hardware? I've never really understood why the manufacturers make such a weird choise. Like, Ltd have a snow white guitar with an evertune and snotty yellow binding. Epiphone have a black Prophecy flying V with binding in a greenish snot-color. I'd love both of those guitars, but I don't have enough punk sensibility to actually buy guitars that are decorated with lines of snot.

    I have a BTB 6 and an SR 5, both Bartolini, (also my main bass, MTD AG 6, also Bartolini) and I love them... But dropped a Nordstrand P pickup in my Sire P7 5 string and fell in love with the sound! Clarity without that tingy noisiness! Might opt to eventually switch to Nordstrand on the whole arsenal!

    6 String Bass got me to thinking about the Fender Bass VI model again. Very strange concept. More like a Guitar in Bass tuning, then a 6 String Bass. Could be a very inspiring piece of gear.
    The originals and reissues are rare and expensive. But there’ a Squire Version and a hardtail Harley Benton version of it.
    That sounds like a fun shootout, Henning! :)

    Sehr gutes Review ! Man konnte gut hören, wie der Bass in allen Lagen klingt und wie die Klangregelung klingt. Besser als andere TH-camr, weil die zu viel quatschen und zu wenig spielen.

    Total tangent here, but what amp is that above the Morgan and to the left of the Red Seven? The one that looks like it's made of wood? It looks beautiful! I'm a sucker for that aesthetic

    What a fat guitar... Nice one! I love that it has a active/passive switch. If you have a good bass, it will sound great passiv. And the extra "stability" it gives you is great - You are playing live and the battery dies. That is what I mean by stability. And I love the switchable mids... You should check out the Sire MM Basses, they have an enormous range, similar to this one. The mid frequency is also freely choosable...

      If you’re a composer it’s phenomenal, and no matter what, anyone who can play a 6 string well will be able to do way more than you on a your 4 string. 24 extra notes you cant play if needed without changing your whole tuning and losing string tension. I have 4,5, and 6 string basses. All different tools for different purposes. Btw if 4 strings is fine for you, no hate, but it sounds more like either you’re not skilled enough to see the value, or you just a modern day bass hipster lol
