the inherent capabilities of oled overrides the issues. At this price point a WOLED will be a fantastic first introduction for people who never had an oled. Fantastic pricing
Really loved this review, very positive but covered all the problems these early panels have, I had one and loved it tbh. tech has moved on, but there are really no bad OLEDS
I wasnt too bothered, the text issues seem a bit poor, but the gaming aspects and getting pure black looks incredible to me. I am really interested in this
The panel analysis was fascinating - 1 nit is really good to see for old tech. The ABL was always a problem, as the screens can look patchy when you see sections brightning up
Uniform bright mode is a clever add on - I had one of these WOLED panels and that issue was always a concern for me - glad they added that on and it seems to work a bit
Wow, your calibration on the panel was amazing, turned it from something average to brilliant ! why dont they apply these out of the factory a bit better??
A lot of it would depend what colour space you are using - if an OLED like this came calibrated to sRGB like the results I showed, it would look relatively desaturated compared to its native wide gamut
Thanks for the analysis. Always good to get technical background on what is good and reasons way it might not work for someone. That text issue is the biggest one for me. Hard to tell how it looks with me in front of it but zoomed in it looks hideous.
I just bought a Corsair OLED - cost a fair bit more than this - but im very happy with the quality - huge step up from my previous TN panel I had for years
Thanks Dominic and Kitguru, was a good watch, I dont think i would invest in an old WOLED panel today, id rather save up a few more hundred and get something a bit more modern
I am very happy with this panel, the tech might be a few years old but the image is still great. I cant say I even notice the fringing on the text - maybe it would be more obvious if I saw a new OLED
Learned a lot there, didnt even know anything about WOLED - LG seem to be right at the start of this technology, I thought Samsung started it all back in teh day
These first gen LG OLED panels are not bad. I still have one in a bedroom I use from time to time - technology have moved on - I would try and wait a year for prices to drop on new tech
It’s a clever business decision to offer this at the price. Great stepping stone for a lot of people. Buy this. Keep it for a few years. Then upgrade to a new oled 🍺
Did your test monitor get hot to the touch Dominic? I had one of these and returned it, it was really so hot after 1 hour of use in my room. I dont even live somewhere hot
Really good value. You wonder though are they clearing old stock they have had for a long time and trying to make it look sexy when it’s just old tech. Oleds should be well under 500 already in my view
That rear is a bit messy looking, but I guess you dont look at it when its running - overall seems like not a bad purchase - especially for people who want their first OLED
Does anyone own one of these, are viewing webpages ok, or is the text hard to read - like does it shimmer ? I saw the close up in the video and it looks awful
Its a good screen, and while its an OLED< there are some great screens around the same price, or a little more like some QD OLEDs too for around 700-800 bucks
Been using this monitor for months with no real complaints, 240hz OLED at 1440p is very reasonable at its price fitting within the market segment quite well.
This looks like it'd be quite a step up from my current TN panel (HP 27XQ, i think). I had an OLED TV for about 5 years. During that time, it never suffered from burn in, as i was very vigilant. I would hope that this panel is not particularly vulnerable to it IF one takes good care of it. 🙂
Thanks for the review! Actually not that bad of a monitor solely due to the price, especially in AU/NZ :) One thing that annoys me about this monitor is that I can't have it run the pixel compensation/cleaning after 16 hours (or if the display is in standby/off). So it gets kinda annoying every 4 hours lol
I have so many things id rather upgrade becore the monitor but thid price is getting better and better. Maybe in 5 years theyll start to become mainstream and be price just a bit over the ips counterparts. Oled is incredible there is no doubt.
My biggest concern is the monitor causes eye strain quickly? Because i have a oled at work and I just couldn’t be on it more then 4 hours without hurting my eyes like crazy.
@SLICKOMODE apparently it doesn't affect everyone. It arrives tomorrow, so I can just give you an update after some use. I'll keep you updated. The older version with the woled is also on sale for even less, like $370. Apparently, the woled doesn't have that issue
Pixel shift etc doent work to prevent burn in. Any game which has the same info in the same area is going to burn the image into the screen eventually.
that's effectively average colour temperature, testing over a range from black to grey to white. 6500k is the standard, above is cool and below is warm
technically its not going to break any records or win awards, but these W OLEDS were always decent for the day. solid cheap option
Great review, I remember these first gen OLED screens were thousands. time flies.
They've certainly come down a lot!

runs warm, but its not bad - looks like a decent screen for the price
I love kitguru and monitor/hardware unboxed for good accurate testing - some people dont use the right tools and give poor results, thanks !
thank you!

I remember buying one of these at the time for 1,500. amazing to think they are now 1/3 the price in a few years, amazing
Good review Dominic - love your monitor reviews, I bought an OLED already based on your testing months ago, thank you !
Great to hear!
@@KitGuruTech ❤❤
Hey really cool idea - nice to see cheap tech on offer for deals
Glad you like it! Got more reviews of more affordable monitors coming up
Awesome thanks Dominic 👌🏻

Yeah they have updated some of the interface in this panel to help compensate. It’s clever
1 nit?? LOL
Text fringing is obviously bad - thanks for highlighting that dominic, very good!
Welcome!
looked quite bad up close in the video review
@@johnerikson2443
I would buy it for gaming, seems its done well in Dominics tech - no lag even on an old screen like this
3 year warranty burn in - thats pretty good, was surprised they would offer that, especially on a budget panel like this one
Uniform bright mode is a clever add on - I had one of these WOLED panels and that issue was always a concern for me - glad they added that on and it seems to work a bit
Yup it's a must have feature for one of these panels!
Great feature to add. Based on what I saw in the review it needed it
@@DavidLeBon-qq9vr They did fluctuate a lot - so I read, never owned one . so good to see them trying to address it with some new options.
Yeah rewatched and saw that. Missed it first time
Love these reviews, not even in the market for a new monitor but the videos are entertaining!
Glad you like them!
Good to see prices dropping - not a bad option for the money !

OLED for the win - love the technology, still saving for one soon
Great testing - thanks !
If the HDR was better this would be a superb gaming monitor - the setup looks massively out based on the results
viewing angles of an OLED are amazing - if thats important to you, great if you run 3 at angles which I used to do a lot for work
Thanks for the great review, epic stuff!
This is the best video for a monitor breakdown that I have ever watched.
Great tech. Nice to see it at this price even if it’s old gen oled.
Agreed!
There are a lot of issues with WOLEDs that people wont remember, and it hasnt really changed with this screen. For the money though its not too bad
Thanks for the analysis. Always good to get technical background on what is good and reasons way it might not work for someone. That text issue is the biggest one for me. Hard to tell how it looks with me in front of it but zoomed in it looks hideous.
Obviously zoomed in it’s more noticeable. But it’s still there. Everyone sees things differently.
I just bought a Corsair OLED - cost a fair bit more than this - but im very happy with the quality - huge step up from my previous TN panel I had for years

Fair enough!
I remember 27" OLED screens costing something like £1500.. crazy the way prices drop in tech 😂
Makes the price point all the more tempting 😁
It’s a really good price. Looks like there is very little wrong with this screen for the price.
It’s a good one for the money
I am very happy with this panel, the tech might be a few years old but the image is still great. I cant say I even notice the fringing on the text - maybe it would be more obvious if I saw a new OLED
Interesting to see your test results Dominic, thanks - I think my friend actually bought this last week, so weird timing
It’s a pretty great set of results for old tech. Shows how advanced and ahead of the time oled has been.
Looks like a great gaming monitor - cant see this being beaten for 500 - HDR seems a bit hit and miss sadly
it has a lot of selling points - not sure why people say this isnt good, its amazing for the price, if it dropped to 400 would be bargain of the year
Just ordered mine for £470
Newegg has it for 400usd

The red subpixel is prone to burn in. Other than that they’re beautiful IMHO.
sub 500 OLED - its starting - in another 2 years, the better stuff will filter down the list a lot
Yes definitely
Hope so myself
Nice to see the return of the WOLED to the budget OLED market - nice to see they updated the OSD to offer some brightness stability options as well
Yes indeed!
sRGB color controls would be good as Dominic said

Great analysis. So much work in this man. 😮
Much appreciated!
I bought this monitor on amazon last week for £500 and i love it.
Great to hear!
@KitGuruTech if you're after an oled for reasonable price this is fantastic value.
For gaming - OLED is the way to go, the other issues wont annoy most people tbh, but i appreciate the detail in key areas
That uniform brightness is a useful feature get annoyed with weird brightness fluctuations you get depending on window size.
I get it why people would want glossy finish for movies and stuff, but for work on a desktop? some companies like Apple charge more for a matt finish
Did your test monitor get hot to the touch Dominic? I had one of these and returned it, it was really so hot after 1 hour of use in my room. I dont even live somewhere hot
£499. Absolutely great for an oled. No one can argue that.

Love the rear of that monitor looks very unusual.
Very tempting, great review Dominic.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks Dominic, great review, I might see if I can get one of these on a further sale later in the year on black friday
Thanks!
Those results surprised me - it did very well considering the age of these WOLEDs, didnt think they were even around to sell anymore

Excited about 2025/2026 and what OLED panels we will have for 500 price points - cant wait to look back and see how things develop from now to then
It's a year or two away not much will change
Like that design aesthetic they have used throughout the monitor with that same recurring shape.
I would not touch this screen now, it has a lot of problems. Mine failed and I never replaced it, fought to get my money back
Super article. Nicely done Dominic
