Sometimes I like to see what a change in dialogue could do to a bad game. For instance, in this one I would have started off with something like "10000 years ago the 99 Dragons clan was entrusted with guarding the soul portal artifact, a gate to the spirit world. But guarding something does not pay the bills, and it turns out the same skills needed to guard something makes you good and attacking someone. So we became assassins. Some work by stealth, some work slowly. Me, they call on me when they want a lot of noise and don't care about collateral damage. I'm not very subtle, but I enjoy my work. I am Drake." There you go. Back story and establishing this guy as a block of muscle. Then later when facing attacking a building you could have had him say "Normally on this kind of job I'd have a team of my clan behind me. We could attack from different directions or do a full frontal attack with many guns. But my Clan is dead. Doing this work solo requires special techniques. I don't know them. All I have is my guns, and my Tattoo. I hope it's enough. Time to start learning." So you give a reason why this guy is an idiot. You see he is lost without his clan, and he is vulnerable. That could have made the meathead likeable. But NOOOOOO, we have to have the arrogant idiot and solo muscle. Waste of potential of what could have been an interesting story of character growth and stuff. Ah well.
It is truly astounding how much better the stpry would be with those two changes. It'd give Drake an actual character arc and set up his character for the intended franchise.
Considering that Drake dual-wields firearms in a trench-coat, I get the feeling that Drake of the 99 Dragons was trying to cash-in on the success of the likes of Max Payne and The Matrix, but fail to understand what made those work so well.

I've found a digitized comic copy. It isn't any better, but it somewhat explains things a little clearer, although not perfectly. Here's the link: lparchive.org/Drake-of-the-99-Dragons/Comic/
I also had that problem with the characters. The game treats it like your already supposed to know who all these characters are or what the world does or the stuff you have does. This is the first time we hear about this stuff. They can't expect us to know about them.
Fun fact, during my playthrough of this game, I actually found out that the easiest way to defeat the cyborg during the tutorial level is to constantly run away from him as you fire at him. (No jumping involved.) This is due to the fact that the cyborg has to stop in his tracks every time he does his attacking animation, which allows you to simply back away from it.

It is not that the hit detection is worse in the pc version, it is that on the pc version they removed the auto aim that made so drake would automatically aim at the enemy making him hit way more.
Yeah; I did eventually hit on other reasons my bullets weren't landing hits. The arm animation is janky and the camera control is choppy even with the mouse sensitivity cranked up.
@@Darklordjadow1 yeah and the reason this port is so bad is that the original xbox ran on a windows operational sistem so bad developers instead of making a competent port would just shove the xbox version on a cd and sell it.
I highly recommend you get an original Xbox, they're not too expensive, highly modifiable to put emulators with thousands of games on the hardware, and collecting games for it is pretty cheap at the moment. There's a lot of really good games on it, such as KotoR 1 & 2, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Ninja Gaiden and Black, an FPS made by EA back when they weren't evil.
I counted 5 deaths in-story, but if Drake had to die off-screen to bring the Master's body or soul to the Serene Garden that'd bring his total up to 7. If you mean deaths during gameplay, well there's no way of counting that.

So what we have here is a tie-in to a comic/animated series that would have existed if the game based on it was successful, who would thought the 6th gen had it's own Cheetahmen/Bubsy.

Ouch. I hope you just sleep for the next week to shake off the horribleness of all the shitty games of the year, and the general horribleness of the 'tripul aayy' industry in the past 3 months. Wonder if you unfortunately played Fallout 76 or Battlefield 5.
I did not play Fallout 76 or Battlefield 5. I have little interest in shooters unless there's a unique hook... or it's Doom. Come to think of it I didn't play most games that came out this year. Shaq Fu, Marvel's Spider-Man, the Quiet Man, and I only just got to checking out Starlink: Battle for Atlas.
Yeesh. There were actually plans to make a franchise out of this. Anyway, Merry Christmas, Jadow. May the games you find under your tree be better than this.
so, DarklordJadow1, how long til you can get to review "Fallout 76"? I know it WILL be a while since its price is still kinda prohibitive for that but I'll be waiting for it... and for .EXE's invasion to your station when "Sonic '06" gets its turn to be put thru "Jadow's Force-Choke"!
Actually, the claim that the game was only developed in six months might not be true. If you’re interested, here’s a link to an interview with a QA tester for the game (which I found neat): www.badgamehalloffame.com/blog/interview-andrew-bado/

Show of hands, who would rather see the entire #OutofthisWorld sitcom than to play Drake of the 99 Dragons? (Am I the only one who remembers Out of this World? )
On-topic, I never thought you'd have a game that could make you scream with the rage of a Red Lantern. Then again, when you try to play a game with Goddamn (because I feel just damn isn't enough) awful hit-detection, a crucial recipe you need to get WORKING in a shooter-game, of course you'd be pissed and with piss-poor aiming but the enemies' aim is nigh 100% accurate. Off-topic, the Tea who commented on your video isn't your ex-girlfriend, I take it?
Seemed the best way to convey how I came within an inch of rage-quitting, buying an XBox, and reviewing that version. It took a while to figure out any kind of way to make the game playable. I was seriously at my wit's end with that first stage- it seemed literally impossible. And no- to my knowledge the "Tea" who's been commenting on my videos is not my ex. She spelled her name "Taiya" online and insisted that it was pronounced the same way.
@@Darklordjadow1 I see... of course, this brings up a legit question: how would a more abysmal version of an already difficult and unfair by design game make it easier to review?
@@Feltzer342 I hadn't realized at the time that the PC version could be exploited to make it easy. I saw footage of the X-Box version and the lock-on system making levels a breeze; figured it'd be easier at the time.
@@Darklordjadow1 You know, Jadow, with the way you describe that... it makes it sound like they traded off one poorly coded problem for another, hoping the player wouldn't notice. In this case, they gave you rather piss-poor aiming in exchange for Drake's bullet time not slowing Drake down as well. In the Xbox version, it's the reverse.
@@Feltzer342 well the slow motion slows down Drake as well, but the slow mo doesn't slow your aiming or firing. In the X-Box version slowing time to land hits doesn't really help you much, but the PC version is so broken that it's essential. That's my impression, anyway.

Yeah; this is why I was asking if you had a spare X-Box lying around. I fully gave up trying to play this for a while.
Darklordjadow1 My first ever Xbox was Xbox One. Only got PlayStation when I was younger so I could play NCAA Football. Then that evolved.
MERRY CHRISTMAS JADOW! 😁
Love your videos and content
Praise God, Santa and Jesus! You actually did make a review of this infamous game. And Merry Christmas btw.
Merry Christmas, Jadow! Thank you for this bountiful gift. I hope you have a great holiday.
ProJared makes this game look easy.
Thanks.
He also makes everyone else look like better people because we don't cheat on our partners XD
@@matthewbraith0411 *Fine wine, this is*
Merry Christmas, Jadow! Thank you for suffering through this game!
24:55 I love that line
Was that strategy you used to break through the levels worked on the tutorial or was the level too broken for even that to work?
For the tutorial, just glitch onto the central platform and spend an hour emptying bullets into the cyborg. I have no better way to do this.
Review the Spiderman ps4 dlc story
I'm so curious on what the death counter got up to.
I counted 5 deaths in-story, but if Drake had to die off-screen to bring the Master's body or soul to the Serene Garden that'd bring his total up to 7.
If you mean deaths during gameplay, well there's no way of counting that.
@@Darklordjadow1 Yeah, I meant ingame. It looked like it got pretty high. Good thing there wasn't a drinking game tied to it.
To quote adam seslor from his review of this game "running is an effort"

Really loving your content
Years ago I remember seeing this game in a bargain/clearance bin, at the time I thought it seemed cool but I didn't have an XBox.
Pushed it aside to find Gungrave: Overdose (PS2) under it.
Dodged a bullet there!
:D Thanks for the gift, was hoping to see this at some point
So what we have here is a tie-in to a comic/animated series that would have existed if the game based on it was successful, who would thought the 6th gen had it's own Cheetahmen/Bubsy.
Great review, as always. Merry Christmas, bro!
Talk about Headless Kamikaze (from Serious Sam) logic in playing this game..
6:43 that scream
It's like Max Payne if Max Payne was horrible and programmed by drunk people.
Merry Xmas, friend! Thanks for the video.
Holy shit the Sonic Boom shade lol
I think we've finally found the perfect game for DSP =P
6:24 to 6:49, I never thought I see the words Game Over that many times in 21 seconds... this game is a mess.
thanx for the xmas video buddy. really love your gaming videos & looking forward to seeing you play more garbage games in 2019 😊😊
But.........i'd love to see you play something decent for a change. maybe just pick one of your favourite games & tell us why you enjoy it.
have an awesome xmas & thanks for all your efforts 😊😊
This is the worst Max Payne game ever
the fact that this game gets any comparison to Max Payne is giving this turd more praise than it deserves, lol.
I was wondering what happened to the Bionicle dude.
Really funny review, Jadow!! I hope you had a great Christmas! 🎄😂👍
Could you review spiderman 2 for pc?
The Drake of the 99 Dragons bus broke down before it even started.
@@Darklordjadow1 Well considering the AAA landscape I don't blame you.
Quite sure the original Tomb Raider for DOS handles shooting while jumping better than this 2003 game
22:00 son of a Glitch
This thing is on PC!? Damn O_o
I really don't have any interest in Fallout 76; the live service survival game thing just isn't my bag.
Just saw that you uploaded, guess I'm staying up for another 30 minutes.
Why doe Drake not have pupils?
I HAD to click this as soon as it came up on my Notifications.
Talk about a Matrix wannabe with a laundry list of issues. I’m glad I never played it twice
Given the gameplay, Drake of the 99 Dragons is more closer to Max Payne
Merry Christmas man
Happy Holidays Jadow, lets play a shitty game
Edit:
Why didn't they just make him a Zombie that has an has an inner monologue?
I wish I could double- or triple-like this video! You deserve it after all your suffering!
Actually, the claim that the game was only developed in six months might not be true. If you’re interested, here’s a link to an interview with a QA tester for the game (which I found neat): www.badgamehalloffame.com/blog/interview-andrew-bado/
The Quiet Man is your new worst game over sequence isn't it?
I'm curious as to how many games also come close to being the worst.
I like how when you get a Game Over, the time still runs!! Shit, this game is terrible!
It hurts already
this may seem like the worst game to go on steam, but its not, Daikatana is, its on steam, sadly i actually have it on my watchlist, i wont get it until i can find out how to patch it
The Order 1886 and Mighty No.9 should've looked at this game and learn not to sell the franchise before the first game comes out.
Also Cheetahmen, Bubsy and ride to hell. Sadly as time goes on some lessons are never learned.
Tis the season to be jollllly... fa... lala... lalalalallalalalalla.
well that blows
Actually, you did have a good reason not to review this game; Projared already did. :(
Yeah, well I don't watch ProJared
6:18 I think the developer's answer is... you don't.
Show of hands, who would rather see the entire #OutofthisWorld sitcom than to play Drake of the 99 Dragons?
(Am I the only one who remembers Out of this World? )
Are you going to do an update to the worst games you've reviewed ?
this game main character is a lamer version of scud
im certain that disposable assassin
would do better
I wouldn't say this is the worst game ever. The game was enjoyable with some neat ideas, just that the final boss wasn't so friendly.
1:04-1:19 I will never not laugh at that.
