I don’t even know what to say about this as a 20 year old Jewish white male. I work at Stop and Shop in Hempstead NY. Hempstead is a majority black and Hispanic neighborhood. We weren’t given a debriefing on what happened and what to do if it ever god forbid happens to us in Hempstead.
They treated the killer in a calm fashion smh just look as they were searching his pockets. Smh he killed 10 ppl and they were searching him like he was just being stopped for a stop and search.
Everyone had eyes on that area at the moment, also, if they roughed him up or violated his rights, his lawyers could of argued to have the case thrown out. He will get his in prison, that’s if he don’t kill himself before going there

I want to know how this man was raised. What did his parents do to cause or prevent this? There are always signs before gun violence before it occurs. More parents need to take responsibility and make sure they set their children up for success within their communities. This could have been avoided. Parents can't keep blaming social media, this stuff happened before social media was major. Even when I was growing up as a Gen Z, my parents still checked what I was searching on the computer. They made me leave the room if something graphic was on the t.v or they changed the channel. Though at that time there wasn't much they could do beyond that, unless they were worried, they let me keep the privacy of my text messages. There are products and applications that help parents monitor their Childrens activity online more than ever, and if children can't trust their parents to go to them for help or to have a conversation. That's another issue all together. You're acting as if teens aren't still out in the public being shitty little teens as they always have. News flash they still go out and hang out with friends. And for some people who have really bad in person social skills or anxiety, social media helps them have happy healthy relationships. 99% of teens don't commit acts of terrorism like this. People like this 18-year-old who are raised in hate and without a general concern or sympathy for others are not the majority. The problems that most teens cause and face are the same just online. This had little to nothing to do with social skills, this was a raising failure. Everything this man was taught eventually lead to this moment. Though I agree something needs to be done to make social media safer, more adults harass, abuse, attack children and teens on social media than most would care to believe. There is never just one root to a tree, it branches out. Social media doesn't have to be the demon people see it as. This is a problem of poor parenting, bad programming and moderating, lax of internet safety, and experiences they observe or go through in the outside world. Adults and Parents need to set better examples and be leaders for the next generation.

As an American, I believe that a Hate Crime Task Force (HCTF) should be created at the federal level to combat these home grown Domestic Terrorists. (Hate Groups) The federal government needs to go after and eliminate these groups directly at their door steps, at the source. A separate group from any other police or military organization in the United States. If they want war, give them war, on a legal and Federal Level. I guarantee the government would have no problem recruiting and/or assembling the necessary troops required to combat this Plague on our society. As an Asian man, I feel for the black community. As I experienced racism before, but it has never been violent. I can't imagine the day-to-day Black Americans have to wake up to every morning.

Parents can't keep blaming social media, this stuff happened before social media was major. Even when I was growing up as a Gen Z, my parents still checked what I was searching on the computer. They made me leave the room if something graphic was on the t.v or they changed the channel. Though at that time there wasn't much they could do beyond that, unless they were worried, they let me keep the privacy of my text messages.
There are products and applications that help parents monitor their Childrens activity online more than ever, and if children can't trust their parents to go to them for help or to have a conversation. That's another issue all together. You're acting as if teens aren't still out in the public being shitty little teens as they always have. News flash they still go out and hang out with friends. And for some people who have really bad in person social skills or anxiety, social media helps them have happy healthy relationships.
99% of teens don't commit acts of terrorism like this. People like this 18-year-old who are raised in hate and without a general concern or sympathy for others are not the majority. The problems that most teens cause and face are the same just online. This had little to nothing to do with social skills, this was a raising failure. Everything this man was taught eventually lead to this moment.
Though I agree something needs to be done to make social media safer, more adults harass, abuse, attack children and teens on social media than most would care to believe.
There is never just one root to a tree, it branches out. Social media doesn't have to be the demon people see it as. This is a problem of poor parenting, bad programming and moderating, lax of internet safety, and experiences they observe or go through in the outside world. Adults and Parents need to set better examples and be leaders for the next generation.

As an American, I believe that a Hate Crime Task Force (HCTF) should be created at the federal level to combat these home grown Domestic Terrorists. (Hate Groups)

If they want war, give them war, on a legal and Federal Level.
