I agree wholeheartedly, but I blame Magic being so expensive as the root cause of why that doesn't happen so much. Most people can only afford one or two decks, and use them to win prizes to compensate for the investment, so they better are competitive!
@@Xitoshi that's kind of the beauty of arena, it's way cheaper to put together decks so you can try out way more stuff, plus it's always easy to find someone to play against
I was honestly wondering if he should avoid playing Wizard class until he had the Trisky in hand, to not just get stuck with 25 cards to dump haha. Didn't seem to have too much trouble in the end though. One of those "control the game until I have infinite resources" deck plans where you can kind of fiddle around pretty easily until you get your game winner.

Actully, both Cyclone Summoner and Koma would be misses. The match 3 opponent is just using the green-blue precon straight out of the box. Had the deck been altered, the most likely cards to be cut (Vortex Runner, Bookwurm, Bubble Snare) should not be there.
Man this is one of the coolest decks you or anyone else I've seen do in a long time! So refreshing not to see decks based around "what's winning games" or which are all about taking 5 turns in a row to win the game (like a couple decks i'm sure we can all think of off the top). Yea you would have to self curse. Curse Of Surveillance, Curse Of Silence, and Curse of Leeches could all be applied to yourself without any drawbacks. Not saying it would be good, but maybe possible lol

That’s quite a deck if I’ve seen one. Spell slinging is pretty popular right now as is extra turns. Maybe an idea (at least for the sideboard in more of a best of 3) could be test of talents to extract any duplicate copies of another instant or sorcery that’s big currently. I think it would work nicely with the curse of silence because you can tax the extra turns or the opponent’s counter spells to make it more likely that you’ll get rid of their extra turns

I made a orzhov cleric commander deck and my favorite combo that’s also standard legal is moon blessed cleric/ teleportation circle, with the speed of standard I don’t think it’d be as good as it was in commander but to search out all of the enchantments starting turn 4 feels really nice
Unfortunately the opponents' decks here were FAR from tournament ready- vampire spawn, bubble snare, and more made it clear there was not much competition. I'd still love to see it for the lols though!
I made a Triskaidekaphile / Curse deck. Have not won with the 13-card wincon yet, but it's a really fun deck, although I have to be careful to not mill myself out. EDIT: first game playing with my deck after watching this video, I won with the 13-card wincon! LVD, you are good luck.
The first time I tried Historic Triskaidekaphile I won with 13 life =) I played 2 copies of Spectral Adversary to save Tris from sweepers/ removal but leaves them on the board for the upkeep trigger next turn
I know Curse of Shaken Faith didn't meaningfully assist in killing the opponent in Match 3, but I think it did work slowing down the opponent's game plan up to that point
You could maybe try going into black instead of red, using the curse of leaches instead of the red one. That way you would have access to duress to get an early look at their hand and know how to properly curse of silence them.
@@LegenVD Ya, I can see that, especially in a counter deck where you are holding up your mana for the opponents turn. The leach would probably force you to be more proactive on your turn instead to keep it as day, especially on their turn.

Card says "other than that player". You can deck you opponent but have to target yourself with many curses in order to do that, probably the best wincon in a mirror match !

I do wish Curses were more visually attached to the opponent instead of just sitting around like boring ole global enchantments. Kudos to SnowCrash's style! Not only the self-destruction, but choosing NOT to take out the Trisky. And also, oh my what great handle-deck synergy they have.
This is a junky deck. Keep that in mind. I dont think you should craft it unless you dont care much about ranked. This deck is made for fun matches in normal games.

I have one of these built! Curse of leeches, dogged pursuit, cleric class, warlock class, cosmos elixir... I wouldn't call it a "good" deck per say, but it consistently wins against all but aggro outside of ladder

It might be too obtuse since you would need lots of discard and counter spells with your opponent drawing so many cards, but fun to think about.

My problem is still no animation for the alternate wins, so half the time my brain assumes the opponent conceded anyway!

I wish Underworld Dreams was still an option in Standard, it was such a good card, and rarely played so no one expected it.

In match 3 you could put the 4 curse of surveillance down and deck your opponent as an alternative win con.
