Watching this makes me so sad. The expansion packs in Sims 4 lack all the great qualities the Sims 3 ones had. There is less stuff, hardly any new skills or traits or places to explore or stuff to do....
I think Sims 1 probably had the best expansion packs, plus it was the first time round so I didn't feel like they were just repeating the same concepts to make the same money from the same people. It's weird when you move up a game and have to wait for all the expansion's to come out again so you'll have the same variety of content...
i inly have sims 4 and i think the packs:Outdoor retreat, holidays, and get to work are pretty cool soooo in sims 3 i can't believe the oacks look even cooler
Same. I was and still have half excited for City Living, but I can't help but feel disappointed at how many customization and sandbox options were left out. Sims 4 is just a thousand steps behind both The Sims 3 and The Sims 2. I'm still trying to get myself to enjoy it though. I do on some occasions but right now I'm having a blast playing TS3. There's still so much to do in the game that I haven't experienced!
When the City Living ep was announced, one of my friends (who doesn't own the game) sounded very excited about it, claiming that she always wanted to play with apartments (implying she was considering buying the game). Thinking it must be really good then, I figured I'd check out LGR's review. Then, I remembered the atrocity that is the map and how limited everything is. So, shame on me for believing for a second that it was going to be like Late Night. And shame on my friend for not installing LN like I told her to do months ago when I let her borrow the thing because she wanted it so bad lol.
@Artoria Pendragon Ahhh man! I feel the old man comin'! Haha. On the real tho.. You had the whole map to explore, and you had the story prog mod that made time progress so realistically. Sims 4 runs way better though but I sure wish it was as expansive as Sims 3.
@@8BitDarkNESsR3v14 I'd even settle for sims 3 graphics if they get rid of the pudding faced kids. Also, add Sims 3 pets, and personality traits, and Sims 2 supernatural creatures which were very disappointing in Sims 3.
the biggest flaw with The Sims 3 is it had no Open for Business pack like Sims 2. What a letdown. Running any kind of business you want with full control over it was really fun.
I agree! Open for business is my favorite Sims 2 expansion. When I was a kid, it taught me how to create a successful business and I still play it sometimes 😊
That was replaced with resorts which was fun to run. Open for Business in TS2 beats retail in TS4. But I enjoy having retail lots my sims can visit even though i don't control them
Felix Crombie I love making supernaturals have babies and see what they come out with. That’s probably why the Generations and Supernatural expansion packs are among my favourites.
I love supernatural, but hated those damn zombies. If you go to the weather settings, you can set what moon phase you want, they only appear with a full moon. boom. No. Zombies. 😍
I cannot believe how old the Sims 3 is now! I miss the customization tool and the open world but I have to admit the Sims 4 loads way faster, even on my 7 year old HP laptop.
@@bibaoreo4355 I don't. I only purchased the Generations and University expansion packs for the Sims 3 (with Generations being an all time favorite for me).
Am West Seasons: true Generations: true, but also false... I don't really feel like I have any new interactions / features with the expension pack installed, but you probably still do play with the features. Pets: False, It only adds pets... you don't even have to get a pet. You can also just make a normal household without a pet. And I (and many other people) almost never get a pet in Sims 3
Yeeees I loved the open map where you could just run around. I loved that. And every single pack he listed as his least favorite were my favorite not including the Katy perry one.. I love the future one and supernatural!!!
Sadly LGR's vid here didn't age great at all. Hearing him be so negative about Sims 3 packs was probably funny back then but seems really petty when compared with how awful Sims 4 actually is. LGR basically doesn't like anything that's not "realistic", which for him apparently includes Duke Nukem detonating and murdering and sleeping with everything, but his dislike doesn't actually make any Sims 3 pack bad any more than him liking Sims 4 would make that game anything other than a giant dumbing down.
222ofcups while I agree the Sims 4 packs have been extremely subpar, but there’s no way that the worst Sims 3 pack is better than any Sims 4 pack. Why do so many people find any way to hate on anything new?
My favourite packs are the ones with weird supernatural elements 😂. I'm more of a head inside the clouds kind of gal than a down to earth person like this guy.
FuzzyWuzaCat Same where. I’m more attracted to whimsy. This review is a personal attack lol. I’m joking. I think it really comes down to what you expect from the game and how you play it, and the Sims caters a little bit to everyone.
@@brianc4632 Yeah, I don't like playing realistically because I have real life, and what's the point of playing real life when I have real life. I play videogames to experience things I can't in real life.
yes! I'm getting The Sims 3 in a couple of days (Yes, in 2017) and these are the first expansions i'm planning to buy when i get the game, but i can't decide which one first...
+goddessOfLove I love the hair and the clothing :D But those zombies suck sooo much especially because you cannot turn them of like you can with all other supernatural beings..
Well I DO like it f.ex you miss out on some wishes and if you play with supernaturals which I do (that is the reason I got this ep so if you do not play with it why do you even have it?) werewolfs turn in the full moon so hunting in a pack works out which it does no other time when your pack is not your family etc So if I play with werewolf it is important to have the full moon turned on for me (werewolf lifetimewish etc
Natsuki8000 is worthless, i entered origin and they sell it right now for 19.99€ and i bought it for 59.99€ i was so freaking shocked ! Because the game is a crap they just want to sell it .
I feel you, mate. I've lost two kittens to owls or simply getting lost in the past two years. Trying to find a cheap copy of Pets to recreate them right now.
The only reason I switched over to TS4 is TS3 is so laggy, even with Twallen's mods to fix it. I just got tired of how long it took to do things. Didn't make sense to purchase all of those expansion packs and the game becomes unplayable.
@@TanyaOwens That's just telling everyone that you use an old computer or don't know how to optimize it. I have an optimized 2014 computer and it runs Sims 3 well.
kylee_97 - Me too! Sort of. I got it for digital art-related stuff, but gaming was one of the things I wanted it for the most. In fact, the guy who helped build this computer asked me if I played TS3, and built the computer around it, since he was familiar with the game. :)
I remember playing World Adventures, Late Nights, along with the Ambitions and pets for hours. Video games make for a great childhood. You learn so much
With more RAM and Sims3 on SSD, this game now fking rules. World Adventures is actually very fun, since it add a twist to the overall grind... just like a real vacation :)

I hate how they keep taking sh*t out of the game only to resell them in expensive expansion packs. I mean, look at The Sims 4. The base-game is bland as f*ck - it literally has no life and half the time spent playing...oh did I say "playing?" I meant waiting. You pretty much have to stare at a loading screen every 5 minutes. The Collector's Edition was sold for almost £70 in the UK when it made its debut. Since then they have either added recycled/re-skinned items or items that should have been in the game in the first place and tell their fans how cool it is that they're now added. "We're sorry to tell our fans that pools cannot be added to the game. *Adds pools to the game in an update.* Oh look guys! Aren't we kind? See, I told you we DO listen to you and now we've added pools! YAY!" DON'T F*CK*NG REMOVE THOSE FEATURES THEN! Like... "Oh here's a downgraded game with better graphics, you'll have no Genealogy, no swimming pools, no open-world, no terrain tools, no toddlers and NO of many other things that you've previously loved in The Sims franchise! HAVE FUN!" Don't get me started on those "Game Packs" because they're pretty much the same as sets on The Sims 3 Store which you had to pay much less money for. "Oh but no we're going to call them "Game Packs" instead and sell them for even more money!" What next for expansion packs, The Sims 4: Rain, The Sims 4: Snow, The Sims 4: Brighter Sunshine and Summer Things, The Sims 4: Makin' Even More Magic Than The Sims 1, The Sims 4: Things We Said We Could Never Add to the Base-Game... Listen EA, I've been playing Sims since I was still sucking on my thumb. I love the franchise but this sh*t is unacceptable. I'm scared to think what The Sims 5 is going to be. The Sims 5, The Sims 5: Aging, The Sims 5: Ability to Save Game?
You guys must have the crappiest computers. The only time it loads is when you're going to another world and for me it's like 10 seconds. I blink a few times and bam I'm there. Like ????? wtf are you talking about?
I admit, your review, despite being 4 years later and probably in the latter half of the Sim's 4 lifecycle, has helped me to decide which expansions to get for my Sims 3.
May I ask? Do you use mods? I remembered mods were my favorite part of sims2 mostly for the creative things people created. Every time someone brings up the sims I always think fondly of the baby grill that grilled real baby sims.
Take sims 4 better graphics and the good things about it, then take a cup of Sims 3 and then one cup of every sims 3 expansion, then let it cool for a little while. Now you have........ *SOMeTHinG THaT wiLL nEVeR ExISt!*
Come on man, Supernatural was one of the best ones that 3 had. It added a lot to the game and shouldn't be portrayed as a bad pack just because it's fantasy, that's completely up to personal preference.
Had to come back to this video. Sims 4 just isn’t doing to for me at all anymore. So I’m re-downloading all my sims 3 packs and Im just soooooo excites
Shocked by seasons being your top one, I wasn’t a huge fan of that one. Personally I ran it on a crappy laptop, but I just found most of the features somewhat useless for the way I play the game 🤷🏻♀️
I bought it (on sale) just so my author sims could write horror novels. I disabled the supernatural life states in options, and used mods to disable the annoying zombies and that full moon glow effect, which I can't stand. Eventually I grew to like the life states, particularly fairies, so I enable them for Moonlight Falls (they don't really make sense anywhere else). Not bringing the zombies back though.
one of the reasons i didn't like island paradise is that it is extremely glitchy. i would enjoy it much more if i didn't have to use resetsim every five seconds because my sim is stuck in a taxi boat or somehow swam into the ground
Funny enough, two of my favorites are Supernatural and World Adventures. My current game is based mainly on those two 😅 there’s just SO much to accomplish, explore, and collect. I love it!

Holy moly, Into the Future was a LOT lower on this list than I expected. This pack was worth it for the robotics alone, let alone the alternative futures and future-based tech, including vehicles and hoverboards. Same with World Adventures, which added a multitude of new and different skills and interesting locations to explore...
my list(expansion packs) 1) Island Paradise! 2) Night Life 3) Pets 4) World Andventures 5) Seasons 6) Ambisions 7)Supernatural 8) Into the Future 9) University Life 10)Generations 11) Showtime
My top 3 exansion packs must be 1. Seasons 2. Supernatural 3. Pets I really loved Island Parasise and University life , but those "worlds" were so laggy to me. I still enjoyed playing it though.
That's just so unfortunate. I agree with LGR that Sweet Treats was one of the worst pieces of content for TS3 (not counting the ridiculous store) but if people want to pay over full price for it, that's their choice 😂
I have to say that I seem to be the exact opposite Sims player. I think feel the same way about sims as I do about movies - my life is real enough, I don't particularly need more reality in games and movies. I only have Supernatural and Pets so far (and high end loft stuff because it was about 2€ on ebay). And I love both EPs. I really like the potion making, the witches and fairies are probably my favourite creatures because they mainly have advantages, not like the vampires who get sick from being outside in the sun and the werewolves that can't change back during full moon. I will get ambitions and generations but I don't know if I will care about too much. I mainly want ambitions for being able to get some careers and being able to have commissions as an ability. I am not sure if seasons will be for the better or the worse, I hope for the first of course. The stuff packs... Well I will get some mostly because by now they're quite cheap on ebay and some contain things I'm interested in. And after all I am not even slightly interesting in sims 4 at the moment unless they bring out brilliant EPs in the future so I will stay with TS3 for a while.
+SmilyLily1996 If you like supernatural stuff, I would definitely get Ambitions, since it includes ghost hunting. I like playing with supernatural, odd families, but the other expansions also flesh out with things to do and add supernatural things too. Like having university life and playing as a vampire with a famous self pity blog.
Well, I gotta disagree on most of these. I do love Seasons, though, and would probably place it at the top too, but I also love Supernatural and Into The Future, although I agree the zombies are obnoxious (though they lead to some pretty funny situations if you're going on a date with someone on the full moon), and while I do like Late Night a lot, it's nowhere near being my favourite, probably because I personally hate big cities.
It’s so strange because my ranking is almost the complete opposite where I love the outlandish expansions. It really comes down to your play style and what you expect from the game. I do enjoy the grounded and more immersive elements of the Sims, but it’s the whimsical ones that keep me playing and buying.
+BeeVlogs try downloading the new sunset valley from German group..it has all the expansions packs all together in sunset valley! even the islands! Download the latest version(0.45 I think)from their website! and many lots r in German but it's not that bad..there's a save game in English but i think it's better not to use because it may lag ur games. use a few nraas mod as well like overwatch and errortrap, register is cool also to lags and freezes. story progression is awesome but it can drain a bi of the performance
My List (from most fav to least fav): 1.Generations 2.Supernatural 3.Seasons 4.Late Night 5.World Adventures 6.Pets 7.Island Paradise 8.University Life 9.Ambitions 10.Into The Future 11.Showtime
+Betch well island paradise constantly freezes on my game so I damn near wanted to put it last, they would rather water taxi everywhere and I honestly don't care much to own a resort. as for pets, well I really love the addition to the game, but I love the traveling to the new worlds and completing the tombs a lot better. And as for University Life, I guess I liked the idea of social statuses and the ability to earn degrees but don't really see a role it plays in the overall game. i hardly notice the expansion pack when I'm not actually at University. I'm just the kind of person who likes the adventures and the different worlds to play in.
Dude, I love ALL the expansion packs, including Showtime. Though if I had to pick, the one that I like the least would have to be Late Night. Don't get me wrong, I love some features in it, but I'm not a city person.
Btw LGR, Katy Perry's Sweet Treats is STILL available on Amazon. So it hasn't really stopped being manufactured. I got it just last year for about 16 bucks. Too bad for you, but I respect your opinion about it. But I think it has cute stuff.
It's nearly 2025, and The Sims 3 expansions are still $20 each, plus the game doesn't even launch without a fan-made patch applied to the executable. And it looks bad on modern graphics cards. EA is just awful at everything.
Then you're looking in the wrong places. In the USA (which is what this video is referring to) the base prices have gone down significantly on places like Origin and Steam, dropping from $40 to $20, and are frequently on sale for much lower during sales. simsvip.com/2017/02/21/steam-sale-purchase-sims-3-titles-5-3/ Not only that, but they're found very frequently in retail and thrift stores for less than 10 bucks each for expansions, and stuff packs I've seen as low as 3 dollars.
Wow, thank you for this information. Just started a new game some days ago.. Seems like I've missed the last sale. I was just suprised they still are at 40$ (resp. 40€ here in the EU). The Sims 4 packs are all for 20 regulary (this is what the stuff packs are for sims 3). But I will keep my eyes open for these kind of sales. Thanks
December Baby u can get them for 7$ dollars in europé i live in sweden and have almost every pack just that idk if i should buy anymore but u should look online
"Dirt cheap." Still 20 bucks per pack. -A- Got a Generations + World Adventures combo pack for 20 together, though, so I guess I won't complain... as much...

Simmee and Soulfish all the time!!!❤️❤️
Watching this makes me so sad. The expansion packs in Sims 4 lack all the great qualities the Sims 3 ones had. There is less stuff, hardly any new skills or traits or places to explore or stuff to do....
Yeah man. It just goes to show how lackluster EA really has become
Who else plays sims3 in 2020?
Sims 4 got boring and I had to download sims 3 because I realized that it was more better

@@sophiemather7772 I couldn't agree more, personally The Sims 3 expansion packs are waaaaaay more enjoyable compared to The Sims 4

I want to but I have Catalina and EA still hasn’t said anything about the 64-bit release since March
I hate that they are literally ALWAYS sick in seasons
You're playing some weird game then. XD Not once have my sims gotten sick.

MeiLiRose _ I love that
My sims got sick in university so thats nice

My most favourite expansion packs are:
1. Seasons
2. Late Night
3. Generations
Rashaan Griffin is seasons that good ?
For me:
1. Pets
2. Island Paradise
3. Seasons
Stuff Pack:
1. High-End Loft
2. Town Life
3. Master Suite
Fahmi Habibie isn’t island paradise really broken? I heard that the map is very bad
Abby Mulligan oh thankyou ! i’ve already decided to buy it ❤️
For me:
- University
- Seasons
- Pets
The Sims 4 has this creepy soulless basic feel that I just can't stand to look at for more than 5 minutes
Celine Hatting sims 4 feels too plastic
YES! I can barely play in game- and prefer CAS to actual gameplay. But even then I can't even look at CAS without all my 350 peices of CC
PERSONALLY, I think the sims4 dress up is a little better then the sims3 dress up, but I still like the sims3 WAY MORE.
Sim 4 is an garbage

@Artoria Pendragon Ahhh man! I feel the old man comin'! Haha. On the real tho.. You had the whole map to explore, and you had the story prog mod that made time progress so realistically. Sims 4 runs way better though but I sure wish it was as expansive as Sims 3.
@Artoria Pendragon Yeah. It has not aged the best.

And being able to build your own stores was way cool
That was replaced with resorts which was fun to run. Open for Business in TS2 beats retail in TS4. But I enjoy having retail lots my sims can visit even though i don't control them
There are mods for Sims 3 to run businesses like in sims 3. Check Mod the Sims and NRAAS.
Search in Sims 3 store. There is a city where we can own our business.
I agree that supernatural is for a specific player tho
Yep, like me.
Defiantly me im gonna be getting sims 3 supernatural again

Felix Crombie I love making supernaturals have babies and see what they come out with. That’s probably why the Generations and Supernatural expansion packs are among my favourites.
I love supernatural, but hated those damn zombies. If you go to the weather settings, you can set what moon phase you want, they only appear with a full moon. boom. No. Zombies. 😍
Those zombies drove me crazy. Thanks i never knew that.

He voiced a duke nukem character in a game once
what game?
Ava Grant he already sounds like a narrator
AKSquid What? LGR didn't voice Duke, Jon St. John did, then again LGR's impression is pretty spot-on so I bet you could confuse the two ;)

Seasons: true
Generations: true, but also false... I don't really feel like I have any new interactions / features with the expension pack installed, but you probably still do play with the features.
Pets: False, It only adds pets... you don't even have to get a pet. You can also just make a normal household without a pet. And I (and many other people) almost never get a pet in Sims 3
the worst pack in the sims 3 is much better than any pack that the sims 4 ever comes up with
+God That is sadly true
This does not seem to be the case based on this video or his other Sims 3 reviews.
222ofcups while I agree the Sims 4 packs have been extremely subpar, but there’s no way that the worst Sims 3 pack is better than any Sims 4 pack. Why do so many people find any way to hate on anything new?

Omg, I totally would! Except, do I want to uninstall all my games so I can reinstall them in order?
HAVE FUN!"
Don't get me started on those "Game Packs" because they're pretty much the same as sets on The Sims 3 Store which you had to pay much less money for. "Oh but no we're going to call them "Game Packs" instead and sell them for even more money!"
What next for expansion packs, The Sims 4: Rain, The Sims 4: Snow, The Sims 4: Brighter Sunshine and Summer Things, The Sims 4: Makin' Even More Magic Than The Sims 1, The Sims 4: Things We Said We Could Never Add to the Base-Game...
Too many truth in one comment.

Come on man, Supernatural was one of the best ones that 3 had. It added a lot to the game and shouldn't be portrayed as a bad pack just because it's fantasy, that's completely up to personal preference.
World Adventures and Pets are low on the list too? The hell?
He did not once say it's bad, he just says he dislikes anything too out-of-the-ordinary.

i HATED supernatural. i only keep it in because i like the planter pots, literally only keep it for a PLANTER POT. PLANTER POT.
I bought it (on sale) just so my author sims could write horror novels.
I disabled the supernatural life states in options, and used mods to disable the annoying zombies and that full moon glow effect, which I can't stand.

i lived for the meltdown during your review of katy perry's sweet treats
"Number 9: Katy Perry Sweet Treats"
*holds up middle finger*
You know what them no longer making or selling Sweet Treats means, right?
It means EVERY copy of Sweet Treats is a limited edition.
SmilyLily1996 oh
Can't agree more
Well i forgot bout' this!
I actually own all EPs by now.
No yet all SPs though. Might not get most anytime soon either tbh
With Island Paradise, anyone else have a ton of lagging? Thinking about uninstalling.
I uninstalled it. It lagged way too much. I wasn't able to play it anymore without the game crashing.
Thanks, for me it was such a cool town, but wasn't worth it.
+Emma Stone It's such an incredible game, the exploring and all that. it's a shame
Yeah, it sure is.
How long did you have it installed before it started giving you trouble?
It’s so strange because my ranking is almost the complete opposite where I love the outlandish expansions. It really comes down to your play style and what you expect from the game.
I do enjoy the grounded and more immersive elements of the Sims, but it’s the whimsical ones that keep me playing and buying.
I think supernatural is better then into the future but my least favorite is easliy island paradise. that one is broken it doesn't work
I liked Island Paradise but it was very laggy and it sometimes crashed :C
Ikr, I can't even play in the town because it's so laggy :/
+BeeVlogs try downloading the new sunset valley from German group..it has all the expansions packs all together in sunset valley! even the islands! Download the latest version(0.45 I think)from their website! and many lots r in German but it's not that bad..there's a save game in English but i think it's better not to use because it may lag ur games.
use a few nraas mod as well like overwatch and errortrap, register is cool also to lags and freezes. story progression is awesome but it can drain a bi of the performance
Samee I had it with Seasons and it lagged a lot 😞
fullscreen
+BeeVlogs true, you need a beefy PC to play it
I wish I kept my sims 3 games (I sold them BIG MISTAKE) Sims 4 is now boring :/
Hyponia
what?
You can get sims 3 on steam.
iron mask of hell
steam gives me viruses :/
Woah, kiddo, wipe your mouth.
*I can still see some of the bullshit around your lips.*
*Hyponia*
I'm 10 would I be watching that?
‘ only Houseboats, scuba diving, and owning a hotel’ being the highlights. Yet we only have one of those options in the sims 4 😭
My List (from most fav to least fav):
1.Generations
2.Supernatural
3.Seasons
4.Late Night
5.World Adventures
6.Pets
7.Island Paradise
8.University Life
9.Ambitions
10.Into The Future
11.Showtime
How could you put "World Adventures" above Pets, Island Paraidse and University Life?...
+MoonlitGamerxo Oh well that makes sense actually.
But I think University and Pets are probably in my Top 5 lol
Dude, I love ALL the expansion packs, including Showtime. Though if I had to pick, the one that I like the least would have to be Late Night. Don't get me wrong, I love some features in it, but I'm not a city person.
Btw LGR, Katy Perry's Sweet Treats is STILL available on Amazon. So it hasn't really stopped being manufactured. I got it just last year for about 16 bucks. Too bad for you, but I respect your opinion about it. But I think it has cute stuff.
+James Burns Ayy my man
It's nearly 2025, and The Sims 3 expansions are still $20 each, plus the game doesn't even launch without a fan-made patch applied to the executable. And it looks bad on modern graphics cards. EA is just awful at everything.
i remember the f*cking zombies, always locking the doors lol
I just build a fence. They annoy the living hell out of me, when they pop out and eat my plants. And their constant snarling, sheesh.
I remember playing with supernatural as a kid and I was so scared and confused when the zombies came and destroyed my garden.
Nope, they aren't cheap. In fact the Sims 3 expansions are still more expensive than the Sims 4 expansions :D
Then you're looking in the wrong places. In the USA (which is what this video is referring to) the base prices have gone down significantly on places like Origin and Steam, dropping from $40 to $20, and are frequently on sale for much lower during sales.
simsvip.com/2017/02/21/steam-sale-purchase-sims-3-titles-5-3/
Not only that, but they're found very frequently in retail and thrift stores for less than 10 bucks each for expansions, and stuff packs I've seen as low as 3 dollars.
Thanks
Wish they were that cheap in Europe. €40 per expansion on Origin.
Steam sales are your friend. The Sims 3, all the expansions, and all the stuff packs are $5 each right now.
December Baby u can get them for 7$ dollars in europé i live in sweden and have almost every pack just that idk if i should buy anymore but u should look online
"Dirt cheap."
Still 20 bucks per pack. -A-
Got a Generations + World Adventures combo pack for 20 together, though, so I guess I won't complain... as much...
Lol
When they're on sale they go for $9 each.
+Len the Trendy Tetraodontiforme I got University, Late Night, and Seasons for $20 from eBay.
Some cost 40 euros in Europe.
+Sergio Serezedo More like all
My favourites are Seasons, Pets, Supernatural (fairys😍) and university life...
yesss yass those are the best
PinkDonut Unicorn YESS AND LATE NIGHT
And Generations! :D
"All of these are going to be dirt cheap soon"
> Every DLC is still $20
