Love watching Salonen conduct - he is so connected with the music. He conducts beautifully! And at the end he so graciously thanks the orchestra, sometimes individually certain members, but you can see in his eyes how grateful he is. Bravo Salonen.

It's a revelation to hear the full ballet score.
I've known the version for piano duet and the orchestral version all my life, so to discover completely new Ravel is a treat to brighten this cold, wet winter's day, thank you!

Gorgeous! Ravel is one of my top favourite composers -- ever. Strange how there are alot of empty seats. This performance is the best. Thanks.
We are glad you enjoyed it!! Regarding the empty seats: The recording is from October 2020 - due to the Corona pandemic there were restrictions concerning the distances in the audience as well as between the musicians on stage. We were grateful to be able to perform with any on-site audience again though.

Oui, c'était une triste époque. Les règles d'hygiène n'autorisaient pas plus de visiteurs et le NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester n'était autorisé à jouer qu'avec un orchestre réduit.

Wonderful to listen to -- not so wonderful to watch. That pattern on the wall behind the musicians is disturbing. It may help with acoustics or it may be an artistic choice, but it sets off my trypophobia (look it up).
How nice that you like our music. We're sorry that you can't enjoy the video visually - and yes, you're right: the special patterning in the concert hall is good for the acoustics.

Such wonderful piece. It's too bad Salonen gets so fussy with details and with controlling the sound & balance on a minute technical level - wildly micromanaging - that he completely misses the inner core & beauty of the piece. This is a cold technical performance, very well executed by the excellent orchestra musicians that reflects a very superficial understanding of the piece. There are many MUCH better performances.

Вы не знаете, вроде бы, ни зтого произведения , ни его партитуры....
