    Recently bought a bold specifically for the intercom function. It's great. The "Hey Cardo" voice command works nice. The reception is great and when you get back in range of your another unit it 't always reconnects automatically. Considering this is the top of the range it's definitely worth the money.

    I can't believe you made a video review of a Cardo whose only change is bigger speakers, and didn't review the speakers. You basically spent 3 minutes reading the product description out loud.

      I agree. What was the point of this speaker review? He mentioned the size and the price difference. You know what it wasn’t a real speaker review?
      Because they suck!
      I bought one and those speakers are not worth $70 extra above the already crappy 40mm speakers. They aren’t going to review the sound because then it won’t sell. I returned the the one I bought to cycle gear the next day. I’m just using my AirPods and the music from them sounds 1000 times better.. And JBL, You should be ashamed of yourselves for this over priced garbage !!

    I've had the Packtalk Black for about a month and it works great with the iPhoneX. The sound quality is awesome (my pipes are very loud 02 Heritage Springer), plenty loud; the voice commands are responsive; it's easy to pair; the battery life is awesome; and it's easy to install. I have it in a C3 Pro.

    Love my Packtalk Bold! Top notch product with top notch sound from the JBL speakers. We now have 12 of them in our riding group and they significantly increase group riding safety not to mention when someone needs to stop. Seamless reception of phone calls, music and intercom amongst the entire group and all done hands free with voice commands. Well done Cardo!

      Nothing is new here. They’ve already reviewed the unit and the jbl speakers in the past. Just the color and packaging is different.as for sound quality, it seems helmet speakers are some what of a contentious subject. A lot of it has to do with the helmet, instillation, etc. some people say these are a game changer some say they sound worse then stock. If you are looking for good sound quality but want a communication device, I’d look into in ear monitors. Cheers.

      This review was on the whole unit, not just the JBL speakers and since the Packtalk Black is like he mentioned, basically a blacked out version of the Bold, this review is just covering the minor changes. As far as sound quality. I have the Packtalk Bold with the 40 mm JBL speakers. When I'm riding with my son and we talk back and fourth, the quality of our voice is excellent. When I ride solo, I listen to music and the sound quality is as expected from JBL speakers of this size. Great mids and highs but if you're looking for great bass, these speakers don't really deliver much bass due to their design. I would say the bass is acceptable for the design but it's nothing that will rattle your head lol. The sound quality is good enough that I would recommend them. Any more questions about the Packtalk Bold or the JBL speakers I'll be happy to answer.

      Just a few weeks ago I bought the JBL 45mm speakers to pair with my Cardo packtalk slim. It's borderline garbage. The speakers literally start getting distortion at around 80% of it's max output. You want to know what's a pretty good alternative though? My new Samsung Galaxy buds live! They don't go into your ear canal very far so the seal isn't phenomenal BUT they lay flat against my ears which makes them fit under my helmet. I personally feel like the audio quality from my cheaper wireless earbuds are better than these JBL speakers. Obviously if you want to have a microphone, my solution won't really work but I figured I would share anyways.

      There's no way of knowing what the sound quality is like from this review, but better made speakers of the same size can sound wildly better. Larger speaker drivers that are also higher quality has the potential for dramatically increasing the sound quality. I mean, the speaker industry is pretty big right? Home audio, car audio, the bluetooth speaker market and the headphone market. Better sound quality in a device that is all about sound seems like it has the potential to be worthwhile.

LOVE this combo: the stock speakers were actually okay, but the difference with the large JBLs is undeniable. So far the audio quality is good and it's easy to use, unfortunately it's still not loud enough at 80 mph wearing a Arai Defiant X on a Triumph Street Triple R. I have no idea why these brands don't put louder speakers in their helmets. Even on a bike with a big windscreen, the volume is inefficient.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you wearing ear plugs while riding? It may sound counter-intuitive, but wearing ear plugs will reduce the wind/ambient noise and allow you to hear the speakers next to your ear that much better. For reference, I commute on a Street Triple Rx for an hour on the highway with the speakers playing just fine. Either that or the volume on your phone might be lowered and not allowing full volume through the headset? Might be worth looking into. -Pat

      Just keep them at the store you plan on buying them from cuz they are not worth $350.00. If you cant even hear the music that you want through the speakers then it isn’t worth buying at all. And for just the intercom feature then that’s up to the user to determine if $350.00 is worth spending on these things. I personally think they are way way over priced for the quality you get.
      I would say for the intercom features $150.00 is more then enough for these things.
