    "Welcome to the next generation of electric guitar strings.
    These strings have been re-engineered from the ball end up. The result is something you'll have to hear to believe. With 6% more magnetic permeability for higher output in the 2-5 kHZ range, they have more punch, crunch, and bite. They'll bend farther, sing louder, and stay in tune better, because they are the strongest electric guitar strings ever made."

    The difference is noticeable to me. It's just more of everything. Louder, punchier, more clear on the highs. The difference is clear to me both with your clean and distorted tones. Nice playing

      I've noticed this a lot recently. Also.... playing low gain (plexi style) shows longer sustain for the tube amp sag. I love these.

    Great video. I absolutely adore these guitar strings. I put a set on 2 different guitars about a week ago and they have not gone out of tune over the past week at all. I'm thinking about doing a review video on just the guitar strings and I can show how they compare to the sag of a moderate gain tube amp compared to what my other guitar has which is not Nyxl.

    I'm watching this after I've tried these strings finally. I myself have played D'addario for 25 years, and am making the switch to the NYXL's, but first need to use up, and unload about 120 new sets of the regular XL's. The NYXL is the best new string I've played, and the clarity between strings, and the fact they hold tune better was a no brainier for me

    I got 3 sets of these yesterday and I played them on a stray style guitar and I feel like on a clean channel they were quite mellow for chords. but they were noticeably brighter with gain, overall they're well gid no gonnae lie. think I'm gonnae stick to these for a while

    Definitely brighter. I just got the 9 46's. I say try these if you play solo's and want the high to shine. But the normal XL's have a darker tone that great for rhythm and deep tones. Both are great strings imo. I prefer the nyxl strings myself though. I prefer high tones. Thanks for comparison! The nyxl's sound great clean! I think the harmonics resonate better as well!

    Just bought a set of 10s (10-52) and boy do they sing! Playing with them clean is just great. And their sound through distortion is so pronounced yet thick at the same time. Just wow.

  • @daverenick4782
    @daverenick4782 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the informative video.I was breaking a lot of high E and B strings...My bridge needed to be buffed out....anyway I decided to try the 10-46 NYXL's since they are advertised as stronger. It seems like I'm the only one...but they feel much stiffer to me ...more like 11 gauge....they are definitely harder to bend...and I bend as much as Albert king.
    The regular daddario 10-46...I've used them for many years and I can play for hours...these start to hurt my hands in 15 minutes. My tech guy said try the NYXL 9.5 strings....Even to manufacture such a gauge means the designer is aware that if you are used to 10's and have some reason to double your string cost....you are going to need to step down the gauge if you want the comfort of 10's. I have not seen anything but positive reviews.......the only one who agreed with me is the tech who put them on at my request.....Anyone else notice the increased stiffness and significant difficulty in bending compared to the old 10's?

    Do these rust easily? I live in a humid area and D'Addarios always rust 3 days after playing, while Ernie Balls never rusted on me. Still D'addario for me has the best string feel out of most of 'em and I really wanna upgrade to the NYXL instead the usuals.

    Honestly my only issue with all these new string is that there made to be bright and im know they never make them flatwound and on these nyxl your using the mid notes sound warmer but i feel the high and lower notes are brighter its not my sound but it is interesting to hear these new strings

    I'm a new player and very confused about what strings to get. I like to play metal riffs and currently use Ernie Balls Super Slinky 9-46. Would you prefer D'Addario 10-52 or Elixir 19077 10-52?

    • @mastertheguitar
      @mastertheguitar  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      String brand is very much a personal choice, most people settling on a string maker that ‘works’ for them :) When I first started I tried them all pretty much and finally settled on D’Addario and have used them ever since on my electric guitars, preferring NYXLs these days. Gauge wise if you’re playing metal you might indeed prefer a gauge that has chunkier bass strings likes 10-52s for more solid feeling riff picking but the step up from 9-46 might be too great. You can get hybrid sets that have lighter strings on top and heavy on the bottom you could try first. Things like fixed bridge vs trem guitars also factor in how the strings feel. For the record I use both 10-52 and 10-46 gauges :) HTH

      @@mastertheguitar thanks mate. I'll give them all a go and see which ones I like most. For the price I'm pretty happy with Ernie Ball. I've only been playing for a week and learning on my own. My mission is to learn how to play before I go blind again. (diabetic) 👍🏼

    I feel like the nyxl are so much better far like clean. Like blues or smooth rock and the others are better for harder rock I don't know I saw these strings and wanted to look them up thinking they'd be acoustic strings but unfortunately they're not. • @mastertheguitar
      @mastertheguitar  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've got two Suhrs, Pro Series S3 I got back in 2008 and the blue custom Modern in this video which I got in 2012. Awesome guitars.
      I only use NYXLs on my electrics now, I restrung with a pack of EXLs I had and just couldn't get on with them anymore! Just didn't feel as smooth on bends or under the fingers. Sound wise there's not a huge difference between the two, but I guess I'm used to and prefer the sound of NYXLs as well. Was weird seeing as I had played EXLs for decades. The NYXLs last much longer for me so on the long run it's probably saving me money.

  • @vejichan
    @vejichan 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How long does the nyxl last? Are both suhr basswood?

    • @mastertheguitar
      @mastertheguitar  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm finding I don't need to restring for months, current set on my Strat has been on there for nearly 6 months (and several gigs)! hah! Didn't realise :) I used to restring a lot as well. Of course it's depends on finger calluses, sweat etc. so everyone is different but on the whole they definitely have a longer lifespan IMO.
      Regarding the Suers, the red one is Basswood with a maple cap and the blue, Mahogany with maple cap. HTH.

      +Pranesh Rai it's been a very long time since I tried a set of Elixirs but as far as I can remember the NYXLs seem brighter to me and are bright enough for my needs.
      There are many personal factors when choosing strings as well as many factors affecting 'tone' the path from hitting a string to the sound you hear has many variables. As such one set/brand works for one person but not the next. Best thing to do is to try and see :)

      The NYXL plain strings have slightly higher tension but in the order of micrograms and weirdly the wound strings have LESS tension than the standard XLs. They are more hard wearing (I think they wear frets down a little faster than standard strings) which may give that rigid feel. Of course everything is subjective :)

    He desperately tries to find advantages, the nyxl just have less highs and sounds duller...

    If you have a 7 string I do not recommend these

      I've used NYXL's for my 7 -string guitars for few months now and can honestly say that I prefer them over any other strings out there. They stay in tune way better and don't break so often which is useful in gigs/studio.

    I didn't like these strings at all. Just made me go and buy another set of Elixir Coated Electrics. They're 10000000 times better.
