This peace took me completely by surprise. I have heard it before on the piano but when played by an orchestra I have discovered that it’s one of the most beautiful peaces of music ever made. So simple yet it brings together joy, sadness, anxiety and introspection all at the same time. Bach you will live forever.
This needs a proper attribution. This is a paraphrase of Bach's Prelude 855a in e minor by Alexander Siloti. It is, effectively, an original composition by Siloti, based on a simple (but lovely) prelude by Bach.
Definitely! The missing mention of Siloti is criminal. (And let no know say, "Oh but this is an orchestral version of the Prelude by Charles Coleman." Please. It exactly follows the Siloti harmonic arrangement and would simply not exist without Siloti's celebrated arrangement.)
Well not really original right? He took advantage of/ripped off the left hand making it the theme since the beginning, I recognized the e minor in it immediately
@@StoneChords It would not be YT without some highly critical and exaggerated negative comment... Not even a mention of the beautiful interpretation and our unique opportunity to access this concert.
Bravisimo.
This is what I refer to as 50s baroque or 50s Bach. Back in the day people spoke of Bach as "the other Beethoven". Those are probably the conductors who made Bach so famous today. Today we play Bach on the piano, Bach on the guitar, Bach on the saxophone, Bach in the style of jazz, but no Bach on a philharmonic orchestra. It's as if that's not allowed anymore. If Bach is so important it should be part of your repertoire. When Mendelssohn introduced Bach's music to the world he performed his music on a symphony orchestra and came with his own interpretation. Every conductor did the same ever since...till today. I doubt Bach would've been as famous today if we had Gardiner and Koopman instead of Stokowski and Charles O'Connell.
Imagine Bach would have been forgotten ... How bad a place the world would be ! However: Next to Mendelssohn the help of digital media helped rediscovering hundreds of composers these days. It's just so bloody sorry that modern performers/orchestras want to have a lemma in the Guinnes Book of World Records, being the "specialists" that can perform Bach's Saint Matthew's Passion within 5 minutes. Even Koopman was influenced by that fashion that made the strings of an orchestra squeek, due to ultra-sound speeding. You might be quite right about Stokovski and O'Connell !
Music has no boundaries. May the world be peaceful.
Never heard this beautiful piece with an orchestra, usually played on piano but I love this rendition, full of emotion - just gorgeous! thank you
It's a knock that opens the doors to souls...

Absolutely beautiful! What a wonderful Transcription! Thank you for sharing!
Alexander Siloti arranged this composition by J.S.Bach, Prelude in E minor, BWV 855a

T'his was a great concert. You should upload the incredible Prokofiev PC 3 with Alexander Toradze :)
I didn't know John Travolta was conducting the orchestra

Any questions, almas fósiles?
Bellissima interpretazione.

And I don't see enough colors in the orchestra.

Change the title . It is e minor prelude ,siloti.
John Travolta?
That doesn't sound like Bach at all.
Yes, it does!
