    I particularly clicked on this one to know more about the taxes, as they are quite confusing. Being there local and national taxes. And then 2:10 happened. 😅

    Great video and very informative! Since living in Moraira/Benissa many years ago, my dream was to return one day and buy my own house but after watching your video, I feel that my dream will always be out of reach. There are just too many monthly expenses. I’m used to spending just €2k a year on rent in China. Interesting that there are so many Roma people living in Pego. Although I lived in Romania for some time and met a lot of Roma, most of my experiences with them were unfortunately not so positive despite my efforts to befriend them. Although China seems to dislike most foreigners nowadays, it might still be my best option if I can survive in Europe. I envy you so much.

    • @traveltomoney
      @traveltomoney  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Wow! Only $2k a year in China? I didn't realize living there could be so inexpensive. I'd imagine there are also areas in Southeast Asia like the Philippines, where you could rent for under $2k per year. What part of China? How was the quality of life?

    • @roxythefoxsayfurismurderan3187
      @roxythefoxsayfurismurderan3187 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@traveltomoney Thank you so much for your reply! I discovered your channel through Karl. He inspired me to consider €1 homes in Sicily until he wound up in Pego. It seems any house there less than €20k at least needs a roof replacement. In 2001, I moved from Romania to Qingdao, China and ended up falling in love. The first apartment I rented only cost me about €1k a year but it was too small for my foxes and plants so i found a traditional house with courtyard just outside the city at the foot of a mountain, near the sea. I still rent it because I wasn’t able to find a way to get my fox out of China. For me, the quality of life was almost ideal except for the fact that I love Europe so much, especially that part of Spain. It’s always been my dream to live permanently in the EU. Due to the low cost of living in China, I was able to save enough to buy a house in Europe but after watching your video, I worry I will go through my savings too quickly. Still, I plan to visit the Costa Blanca soon, perhaps in October and I’ll keep an eye out for you. Cheers!

    What I find interesting is how much your costs vary from ours. We live near Gandia. Our home is close to fifteen times the price of yours yet our property taxes are just a bit more than twice as much. We're paying about 45 Euro a month for property insurance. My last water bill was 500. I think it goes to show how much these things can vary.

    • @traveltomoney
      @traveltomoney  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Wow, that is very interesting! A 500 euro water bill is a huge difference! Thanks for sharing. 🙂

      @@traveltomoney the water bill shocked me too. But my wife has a lot of plants and runs the irrigation more than I would.

      It's good to have good bars on ground floor doors and windows. This is everywhere in Spain. Alarm systems and cameras are priced pretty reasonably. I'd also recommend getting to know your neighbors. My street has a WhatsApp group chat where everyone looks out for each others homes. I've only heard of this happening one time in the last 5 years in my town. I don't think it's quite as common as it's made out to be ... at least not in my experience.

    • @traveltomoney
      @traveltomoney  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! In Spain, the demand for short term rentals seems to be very seasonal. Of course, if you price low, you can always have some business. The laws require registration with the government, a 24% tax rate on rentals, and a property manager has to meet each guest and register their passport, so there are definitely things to consider before starting a short term rental business. 🙂

    • @MariPasq123
      @MariPasq123 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@traveltomoney that’s interesting. It makes sense that vacation rentals would be seasonal and wow! Good to know about the tax!! I spent 3 weeks in Spain last year and we weren’t met by a host at a each vacation rental so I’m sure there are some work arounds, just like in the US. I understand you’re merely stating what the laws are.

    Thanks . It looks like they rip off people. Person has to pay for water he did not use and for electricity he did not use. I can imagine how much would one had to pay if he bought a house for 80 000. For 15000 euros I can go to Spain for holidays 3 times. Thanks again for your job but looks like I finish dreaming about the house in Spain.
