Supposedly the Hen and Roosters from 75-80 are some of the best knives from its time. That late model one you have there looks nice to me. The bolsters make It unique
That Congress has the best bolsters I've seen on a Congress and with carbon steel blades 👍. It totally sucks that I can't buy one here in the UK 😡. Can't find an overseas seller to get one from either. Love the upload👍
Blade rub is hard to avoid on knives with three or four blades. I don't see it as a defect but merely the cost of doing business with multiple blade knives. Good video.
Yeah, I pretty much expect that any knife that has 2 blades sharing 1 backspring is probably going to have some blade rub, some collector types don't see it that way.
Thank you for sharing. I don’t own any congress knives. I have been considering the Boker beer barrel Congress. Love the stepped bolsters on the hen and rooster. I would like to see GEC or Case bring out a jack knife with the stepped Sheffield style bolsters. Adds character I think. I know GEC did the 77 Washington Jacks for Charlie C. But those are rare and extremely expensive. Anyhow thank you very much. Look forward to more videos from you. Always entertaining.
Blade rub is no small thing for the collector and can sour the acquisition of the H&R Congress. That said, I have one identical to this down the color and style of the scales. I had to learn to accept the rub and love it in spite of that.
Hen and Rooster is a strange company. I love the look, history and provenance, and I've obtained some outstanding HR pieces. But others have not been that great. One thing about Congress knives, or any knife that uses several blades on its frame: the more blades, the harder it is for the craftsman to avoid blade rub and fit issues. It's simple physics; the more potatoes you put into a sack, the more likely they are to bump into each other.

Thanks for sharing. I've been looking at Congress knives and there seems to be quite a range of different styles.

Probably the most astute comment on a knife vid I've seen in a long time.
