Love the video!! I am relatively new to watercolor and thought I had to buy all the pre mixed colors in order to paint but love watching you mix all own colors! I have a lot to learn and practice. Can you share your cool primary favorites and your warm primary favorites? I have learned so much from your videos, please keep them coming!!!
What a great video! I am a complete beginner, and mixing colors feels so intimidating. I really love the way you go about matching the colors. This is going to help me so much on my next project!
Wow! That was wonderful. You have been instrumental in helping me learn to match colors just using the primary colors, or a variation of them. Than you!
This was very useful, thanks. It was interesting to compare it with Draw Mix Paint's method for oils. He emphasises matching the value first, but that doesn't work for watercolour since a transparent wc mix doesn't really have a value, but more a value-density. Black will have a darker value for a given quanity of the mix than red, but the absolute value will ultimately depend how much you put on.
This is really great !! I come back to this tutorial weekly to practice . Thank you for providing so many ideas for practice. Just like doing scales when you are a musician, practicing these helps so much when doing a piece later.
Thank you; thank you; thank you!! Another fantastic tutorial and you couldn’t have timed it better. I really like your use of a minimal palette, (hot/cold primary’s,) when doing a lot of your tutorials. This video was really helpful, I am literally signing off and making the same view boxes you used. Oh QUESTION: when making view boxes, does the colour of paper matter? I’m guessing it’s watercolour paper, but they do come in different tints of white. Thanks again & I vote 🗳 for Ruth to be your guest more 🐶👨🏻🎨
Awesome! So happy this helps 😁🙏🏼 As for the color of paper, I alternate between the slightly tinted Saunders to a clearer Arches. Honestly it didn’t make as much of a difference for me (: But if you find it easier to do on whiter paper definitely stick to that for this specific practice (and then for a full fledged painting you can use whatever you like). Hope that helps ^_^
Thanks Liron, again a very interesting, informative and entertaining Episode. Your video has tempted me to combine a "Liron Yanconsky Split Primary Pallette" for myself and have some joy in color mixing. You mention the colors: Pyrole red French Ultramarin Indian yellow Manganese blue Quin. Rose Lemon yellow Would that be your choice of a split primary transparent pallette for mixing any color and everyday? Or would you want to name other colors for more versatility and/or transparency? Your feedback is as always most appreciated.
And I’ll add to SJL, my Ultr. Blue granulates heavily with some of my yellows. My French Ult. Doesn’t do that. Teoh has a great vid on the differences, but it’s important to note it’s the same pigment (PB 29) (: th-cam.com/video/MQYOLJPixdA/w-d-xo.html
LOLLLL when they have their little mouths half open and their little front teeth are poking out looking like tiny human teeth!!! I can't!! Dogs are too cute!!! Edit: I forgot to say thank you! This was immensely helpful! I just recently got into watercolors (I am an oil painter) and mixed media and mixing watercolors is different from mixing oils. Color theory is the same, but if you make a mistake with tone in oils the way you fix it is different from watercolors so this was very helpful for me!

Wow! This video surprised me. I thought “oh no that’s going to be a hard color” and you got it in no time! Makes me think I can do that too. Thanks
Love how you show how to match colors!
As always - excellent! THANK YOU FOR SHARING RUTH!
We want to see Ruth more often! The video is helpful as usual.
This video was so relaxing to watch for some reason 😆 Thanks so much for the tips!
Wow! That was wonderful. You have been instrumental in helping me learn to match colors just using the primary colors, or a variation of them. Than you!
Very helpful. Was just trying to match an array of colors, and didn't realize I could do so with only a few basics. Thank you.
This was very useful, thanks.

Great tip on colour mixing Liron ! 👍🎨👏 I had forgotten about this method. Always nice to see cutie Ruth 😍❤🙋
This was fantastic!!!
This is so interesting and so helpful! Thanks for this demonstration!
Wow! This was really great info. Thank you, Liron!
Gracias,, muy buena forma de jugar con los colores y aprender a la vez.
Super useful!
Happy to hear Laura 😁🙏🏼🙏🏼
I really like this exercise. It does help with your ability to match colors well
Thank you Paul! 😊🙏🏼 In a full fledged painting, while you’re in the midst of it, this skill is indeed very useful 😊
That was REALLY useful. Just going to cut my 'card window'. Thanks Liron.
Great colour mixing tutorial! I love how you just get right to it and give lots of examples.
Very helpful!
Liron!! Thank you! Very very good demo! Love Ruth!
Excellent demo. Thank you.
This was really interesting. I'm a beginner and need to learn more about color mixing. Thanks.
Really helpful.

Thanks for the video! Do you mix a good amount of the colours before painting to ensure you have sufficient mix for the painting?
Thanks Liron,
again a very interesting, informative and entertaining Episode.

Really informative 🙌💝
Thanks, can't wait to try this.
Liron, do you have any suggestions for how to match colors for real things like flowers? 💐
Thanks for sharing your talents and wisdom with us 💖✨💞💫💝
Very interesting! Thanks! What is the Stan Miller color matching video link?
This is very helpful! Thanks!
Happy I could help! 😁🙏🏼
amazing!!
Thank you Karissa 😊🙏🏼
That's so helpful! Thank you for the tip.
I really love seeing your "messy" palette 🎨. It looks so well loved and comfortable. Like a favorite pair of jeans. Great video.
Fantastic, thanks so much.
Very useful. Thank you 🙏
The is so helpful now I can match any colour
So you are matching on a scrap paper. If you need to create a medium quantity you would have to do it again just matching in a bigger puddle, right?
Yes (:
W h o a . Blew my mind. Thanks!
Looks to me....quinacridone rose magenta and manganese or pthalo blue are a must in my palette not just primary 🙄
What’s the difference between French ultramarine and regular ultramarine?
French is redder. I can’t really tell the difference.
And I’ll add to SJL, my Ultr. Blue granulates heavily with some of my yellows.
My French Ult. Doesn’t do that.
Teoh has a great vid on the differences, but it’s important to note it’s the same pigment (PB 29) (:

@@LironYan the owner of Daniel Smith paints said the French UM particles are larger and that’s why it’s warmer.
Hey, i do it the same way!
good
Bruh, you been peekin over my shoulder..spy cam in my "studio"? Same technique I've always used. Made much easier after I learned more color theory.
The video was very nice! But Ruth is the Best 😂
What are those magazines you’re using? The Bloo… something

Haha, the intro made me laugh out loud. The rest was ok too. ;)
very useful 👌i liked testing my knowledge by choosing my colours before you said them 😂👌
My OCD can NOT handle your pans being so contaminated with other colors in them! Love your videos though!
